The Lakers will NOT match, because they will chase George and Lebron, both of whom will probably take some time meeting with several teams and deliberating.

I think there’s a good chance we lose Randle for nothing, which is why I was even higher on Nance, and I wanted Randle showcased and traded earlier this year.

To be blunt Mitch and Jim would have not matched and had their ducks in their hand

Pelinka and Magic have been accessed of tampering multiple times already. They go be contacting guys come draft night, well before the negotiation period starts because they are sneakier

Lulz. Nobody is throwing max money at Julius Randle this offseason, especially not early on. You can bank on that.

I think people are really underestimating how much Randle might get this offseason, especially if he keeps his level of play up.

The moratorium ends on July 5th. He cannot sign an offer sheet until that point. Then the Lakers will have 3 days to match. We won't have to make a decision until July 8th.

And looking back at past years, RFA usually is very slow developing. And in a market where there's not much money, I can guarantee Randle's situation will be slow to develop.

And he's not getting a max. Quote me on that.

Really it only takes 1 team, and the Mavs have both the money and the trash team to offer it. Who knows what happens.

Also, Julius Randle in February:

20.4 PPG, 8.0 RPG, 4.0 APG, 58% FG, 63% FT

12 straight games scoring in double figures. Maybe that's a guy we should consider matching if a big offer is thrown at him. I would.

Not dumping here at all but this is how low we've sunk in many ways. 12 straight games of double figures with 8 rebounds for a starting PF isn't "big offer" territory for most top tier teams. Just saying.... I like Randle but as a starter he's not a top 3 player on a top 5 team. He's one of our better players but that may say more about our other players. We need that great player for these guys to play off of. Not sure I'd re-sign Randle for big money before we get the leaders in place.

We got the Cap Space

Magic has a plan A. and he has a plan B. so we gonna see what that is. These two have always been about Cap Space. I think Magic has made it clear with some of the moves he's made who he doesn't like Russell Clarkson Nance all were boys. he's trying to get rid of all the mitch guys. Magic just wants to get his two free agents so he can win. so it's not going to be a rebuild they want to get the superstars. it's going to come down if they can get them. are these the right superstars. they've been pretty clear how they want to build this team.

Guys, we have a thread for IT, a thread for the draft pick, and the 'Around the NBA' thread to talk about Nance and JC now... I think it's time to move on from the trade, and lock this up.
