I honestly don't get how some people think Sabonis was a better passer. For every highlight reel pass Sabonis has available on youtube, I can find you two that are just as good from Jokic, and he's only 22.

the only thing stopping being a top 10 player in the league is his willingness to try and take over games.

the one thing I liked about Porzingis is he definitely had that killer attitude that lived for the big moments, Jokic sometimes seems a little passive but when he decides he needs to step up he's nearly unstoppable on the offensive end. he top scored against the spurs taking less shots than 3 other starters, and his average is only 12.7 attempts per game, he's one of the few players I'd really like to see that figure rising.

He showed many times this season that he can be the clutch for his team . Either scoring or making the good decisions with the ball.

Maybe because some people watched full games with Sabas and not 3 minutes highlights reels from 2 games and some documentaries? Arvydas passing skills were real, believe me. I say this as a Jokic fan, but he's not much better passer than him. You can argue it on either way but there is no way that one is much better than the other.

Having the flashiest passes does not make you the best bigmen passer of all time automatically.

Sabonis had 964 total career assists in 7 seasons

Jokic has 782 in 2 1/2 seasons.

Jokic > Sabonis and its not even close

This doesn't make any sense Sabonis was already pass his prime with 2 bad knees when he got here. His play time was limited,

So its not having the flashiest passes, and its not about about APG or total assists. What metric is it going to take?

Btw, I'm not saying Jokic is not the best passing big man. I'm just saying flashy passes doesn't mean much. I guess APG or total assists is a good start. But you also need to look at turnovers (or assist to turnover ratio). Players who make risky passes will often be on youtube highlights. However, I would not consider them great passers if they turn it over quite a bit.

Before Jokic was Josh McRoberts.

Easily a top 3 had he been not injured

He's throwing all kind of passes , even when is almost impossible to make them, like being crowded underneath the basket by 3,4 opposing players , and then he throw the perfect pass not looking to his teammate for the three point shot. I doubt there are three players in the league who can pull something like that . He's truly great passer not just among the centers . He can compete with the pg's in that department.

Not sure what qualifies as big man but Larry Bird was better... and if not for injuries and in the case of Sabonis' arriving late Walton and he would be considered two of the best to ever play the game.. Kareem was also a good passer

I can't believe the levels of Bill Walton disrespect in this thread...

The only reasonable choice for GOAT passing C.

didn't read the entire thread, but Brad Daugherty deserves a mention if speaking of true traditional centers

Sorry for bumping, but who is still not convinced this guy is goat passer big?

Its funny, someone yesterday said how was he so under the radar during draft, dude is number 1 pick material. But watching him dominate NBA, I just cant believe thats happening. It is so weird seeing guy who is so slow and under the rim player be this good at this level, if he was playing at this level but in Europe, I might be his biggest fan but would still say no chance that translates to the nba. But somehow it does, its unbelievable watching him play, i have no idea how he does it.
