Thats why theres laws rules and regulations. Except that there are certain folks wanting to do away with some laws rules and regulations. You mean theres no bias on the right? You think modern academia is pushing their biases? The conservative religious right has been doing that for centuries. Cant wait for moderates to smack both sides.
What the hell are you talking about? Freedom of speech is the founding principal in America, how does that compare to smoking? So funny that you talk about laws and regulations, yet forget about the first amendment.
Did you even watch the video of Peterson dismantling Cathy Newman or are you just going to spout nonsense?
Yes, modern academia is clearly pushing their views. Just scroll up and look at the story I posted on Sir Wilfred Laurier and Lindsay Sheppard? Ironically, it was Jordan Peterson's views that they were trying to censor because they didn't like it and compared him to Hitler. We've seen it at Berkeley and countless other universities and colleges trying their best to silence Ben Shapiro, Ann Coulter, Milo etc. There was a video of Jordan Peterson discussing this very topic with other Ivy League professors, it's clear as day that western academia is very left leaning.
No one's views should be censored. The issue is that the right wing, especially the extreme right wing (alt-right aka neo nazis who try to act like they're not **** ing brown shirts in the 21st century) that you're going to bat for, get all up in their feelings when they get called to the mat over their trash beliefs. Ben Shapiro is a passive aggressive racist. he's trash. Ann Coulter, her body of work speaks for itself. she's a racist bitch piece of trash, who openly admits that she'll die alone (as she should, she's a horrible human being). Milo is literally a neo nazi bannonite (who for some odd reason or another loves to have sex with a black man, lol) who worked to stoke the flames of white nationalism in the west with his "dangerous f*ggot" tour. dude, **** all of these people.
listen, we're cool and all as basketball fans. i won't extend this outside of this thread for the sake of the forum, and i mean that. we can talk basketball all day. literally because of the Nets, and the good people on this forum, i won't take this discussion further.
but if you're trying to champion Ben Shapiro, Ann Coulter, and Milo Yiannopoulos, your political views are seriously **** ed and I consider you a threat to my existence as a person of color. are you a white supremacist? because your views clearly align with those who are.
I'm a big fan of Ben Shapiro and Jordan Peterson, not so much Ann Coulter or Milo as I think they are more provocateurs. Both Shapiro and Peterson can get their points across while staying calm and rational. The other 2 just like to stir up the pot to promote themselves for financial gain.
Imo, it is a misconception that anybody that supports their POV are automatically painted as alt-right or racists. There are a lot of Blacks that are conservatives and Trump supporters as well, doesn't imply that they are any more racist or condone white supremacy. For me it is more an ideology, mindset and outlook that I agree with, has little to do with race. I'm Canadian and I live in a multi-cultural city. I am mixed Asian-White and my closest circle of friends include another Asian dude, a Lebanese guy and a Black guy, in fact, some people think that we are anti-white.
I voted Liberal in the last Canadian election because I work for the federal government and wasn't a fan of Stephen Harper who tried to downsize our government but I regret doing so because I haven't agree much with Justin Trudeau's ideologies. He has been supporting terrorists, making a huge deal of the victimization of the LGBTQ community, something I vehemently disagree with. Shapriro's and Peterson's views on the LGBTQ community is spot on, I couldn't agree with them more.
The issue that I have with the left is that they are always the victim, blaming everybody else for their woes and if you don't agree with their ideologies then you are this or that. Imo, they are the ones that resort to violence, yet the media especially CNN would never cover these events, they will make it out to appear that any Trump supporter are automatically violent and part of the KKK which is untrue. I do not support the alt-right nor the KKK but the alt-left are just as bad such as Antifa. They hide behind masks, resort to violence and you cannot reason with these folks because they don't want to listen, they are simply not rational people.
I come from an immigrant family as well and I take full responsibility for my success and failures, I don't believe in taking handouts or blaming anybody else for my outcomes. I am older than most of you have proudly accomplished a lot in my short life, am a graduate of Stanford University (via scholarship), fought mma and now work as a Senior IT Security Specialist during the day and Personal Trainer/Group Fitness Instructor in the evenings. I've experienced plenty of discrimination growing up and even until this day but I love the challenge of overcoming barriers. When I started of a fitness instructor I was told that I didn't fit the profile and through hard work and persistence I became instructor of the year for a large gym and now I get to teach other instructors. When I see people complain about **** and other people keeping them down, I cringe because I believe in the principle of full accountability. I see it with the fitness members as well, there are grinders and there are whiners. The grinders make progress while the whiners stay the same or quit.
Now getting back to the political front, I find it disturbing that not only have the media have swayed largely left, but it has spread to academia as well, hence why I was so bothered by the Lindsay Sheppard Sir Wilfred Laurier saga. She simply showed a video of Jordan Peterson and asking for student's participation in discussing different points of view on how trans people should be referred to but was automatically censored and reprimanded for doing so because her PHD supervisor doesn't agree with his stance and likens professor Peterson to Hitler. University is about teaching students to open minded and to think critically, not force a one-sided political agenda onto them. We know that 90% of political science and university professors are left leaning, so it is actually refreshing for someone like Dr. Jordan Peterson to be able to express his ideology of free thought and expression. From most accounts, he is a treat to have as a professor at U of Toronto and was in the top 1 percentile in terms of likeness. Watch some of the Youtube videos and witness the tirade and rudeness that the certain students display toward him while he remains calm and tries to express himself with tact.
Then you have the Peterson/Cathy Newman debacle that we all witnessed recently. Not only did she make a complete fool out of herself and was obliterated by Jordan Peterson but what was more sad was how she and Channel 4 News handled the matter afterwards. They tried to twist things around to make it seem like Cathy (the real bully) was getting bullied online to the point of having to hire security for her safety, what a joke. So rather than confronting the actual issue of discussion, they tried to change the narrative to play the victim card, which is absurd but not totally surprising. When someone actually filtered for all social media attacks and claims, the truth came out that there were only 2 instances of actual threats toward Cathy Newman, most were just people calling her an idiot or a bitch which is not an actual threat at all. There were actually dozens of cases from the left or from feminists actually threatening Peterson, one prominent feminist tweeted that she would have punched Peterson right there.
Btw, Jordan Peterson has reached out to Cathy Newman's people for another opportunity to have a more rational and down to earth interview but there is zero chance that she will accept imo. She is not up for any type of rational discussion, she simply thought that she could bully and make Peterson look stupid via her dishonest tactics in which she's been able to get away with for so long. She tried to push her own narrative and since that it has failed by large, they're trying to push another narrative and cower away from the actual topics of discussion. Who are the true bullies and victims here? So these are the types of things that sicken me. I don't consider extreme leftists to be rational people, they debate via emotion and when they're confronted with actual facts that go against their beliefs, they will either try to censor, resort to violence, blame other people or play the victim card. Since media is control in large by the left, the truth is often buried but Americans are getting smarter....I think. They voted against Hillary so I have to give you guys credit for that.
MDB, I respect you and everybody here as a basketball fans and also good people even if our political views do not align. I think that this is the power of free thought, everybody should be free to expression as long as they are not intentionally harming others.

Four members of Trump's campaign have either been already indicted or convicted, three of them have flipped on Trump with more indictments under seal and you all act like this investigation is going to lead to Obama getting locked up??
