I hope Van Gundy enjoyed watching the festivities. With it being in LA, there is even a chance Gores might have been in attendance to see it live. Though probably too drunk to remember anything this morning.

Arn Tellem better fire SVG after this weekend
You need 2-way wings, 2-way shooting bigs, and you can't allow low iq players on the court. Assist/turnover ratio is crucial. Shooting point guards are icing on the cake IF they are plus defenders.

This era may be worse than the Charlie V days if only because we were coming off an era of championships and dominance.
We’re now in the “What might have been” era. It will be rough. Unfortunately Gores will let SvG ride this out because he’s sick of paying people who don’t work/play for the team anymore.

Are you guys serious? They are festivities that first of all Luke could have a shot at winning the 3 point contest and if Lavine or AG were in the dunk contest those dunks from Mitchell wouldn't have got him out of the first round.
I do wish we had these guys obviously but starting a thread over it seems hilarious
Drummond did good on that skills challenge while we're at it though. Hit the 3 on his first attempt as well.

This isn’t about wishing we had players who are good at all star festivities. For me at least, it’s about the big picture and passing on/moving on from legitimate, cheap talent. In Mitchell’s case, possibly a superstar. Other side of the coin is SVG can’t develop talent so, like dinwiddie, these dudes may have looked mediocre here because SVG is trash.
The Pistons roster is set until 2020/2021. We’ll be a 7th-9th place team with no cap space playing in a 2/3rds empty arena with a new GM and coach who have to deal with this mess.
It’s rough being a Pistons fan.

Were you a fan of Mitchell pre draft? Like if I go pull up the draft thread from last year when I was hyping him up, I just don't remember any of you in there talking about him cause I was always talking about him and felt more alone on here with him. Probably just more sulking comments in there about the draft the previous year and how we are screwed.

I’m still pissed we cut Walter ‘Sleepy’ Sharpe. Kid had potential.

Please, please go back and look at how badly I wanted Mitchell if he was there. I’ll be the first to admit I didn’t see booker becoming anything special so he doesn’t sting as much for me as Mitchell does.
Ellenson’s draft/our draft spot was weird, I personally liked Malik Beasley but wasn’t too mad about Henry. Just hope he pans out cuz he doesn’t look like an NBA player currently.

Damn, Drummond lost to Markkanen, Trade Drummond for a 2nd round pick and some bad contracts.
Blake Griffin didn't make the ASG, trade 2 future 1st to get rid of him. ASG is the most important thing in the world.

I wasn't saying you didn't want him. There was a couple of us wanting him that then expanded after we picked Luke. Would be fun to pull it up though and see who all was wanting who. I knew we were picking Kennard though. SVG was using the draft that year to get guaranteed 3 point shooting at SG instead of looking at potential.
Booker I missed on and would look like a fool with but Mitchell had everything but just was inconsistent. That wingspan, athleticism, loves to play defense, etc it was to obvious.

Re: All Star Weekend - Dinwiddie wins skills comp, Booker 3pt contest and Mitchell wins Dunk contest...
Of all these, the Dinwiddie development is the most frustrating. He could be starting for us right now. I know RJ was our starting PG, and Ish took over the backup role, but what point was it in trading Dinwiddie for nothing after only two seasons? It made little sense then, and even less now.
SVG actually hit one out of the park when he drafted Dinwiddie in the 2nd round. He then forgot to walk the bases.
I wanted to draft SJ/Winslow over Booker, so hindsight is 20/20. I did want Mitchell over Kennard though. At the very least, you can't expect to hit a home run every draft, but it would have been nice if we ended up picking either Booker or Mitchell in one of those drafts. We'd be in a much better position now had we drafted one of those guys.

Imagine we would have drafted Wade Melo or Bosh instead of Darko?! Lol
We should have fired Dumars on the spot in that 2003 draft! Oh wait then we went on trade for Sheed and went on to win the title the next year and went to the finals the following year and then the east finals the year after that and the east finals the year after that and the east finals the year after that! Jesus people! Get over it. Drafts are a crapshoot. Luke is going to be a solid player. I'll put this here too. We're in a much better place than we were at the beginning of the SVG era. Suck it up buttercup lol https://www.detroitbadboys.com/2018/2/18/17024858/how-the-pistons-can-make-the-playoffs

Re: All Star Weekend - Dinwiddie wins skills comp, Booker 3pt contest and Mitchell wins Dunk contest...
We have almost 4 years of documentation. SVG is a bad GM/President/Shot Caller, whatever title he wants to aggrandize himself with.
We also have 4 years of poor coaching to boot as well. And, with how he set himself up, he can't blame a bad roster for underperformance. He is the architect of it. It's his botched draft picks, his lack of player development, his failed free agent signings, his over-paying of players.
Dude needs to go, ASAP. Find a time machine, and send him back to 2008, when his coaching style was still relevant.
Get Jerry Stackhouse, Fizdale, or the Domino's Pizza Noid for all I care. I'm tired of seeing this clown and listening to his excuses.

But even with Dinwiddie everyone talked about him like a scrub on here and were definitely not ok with him getting playing time.
I just love the hindsight GM takes from our posters when half of you provide nothing more than complaining in every situation

God remember last year when some of you wanted to trade Drummond at all cost for guys like Brook Lopez for example. Who was that out of the negative Nancy crew actually?

Here's Luke doing the 3 point shooting contest format basically. You put him out there feeding him 3s with no defense and he could win that.
Booker is a really good shooter and I think Kennard is even better. Even at Duke it started to feel like it was in when he shot it at some points throughout the year.

Meh not sure what the obsession with Dinwiddie is. Dude is putting up some numbers on a bad team, on bad efficiency.
38.8% FG on the season? 33% in February..

Dude is a decent player, and that’s about it. The overreactions and dramatics of this board are currently at an all time high. Every move we make somehow becomes “franchise-crippling” to some posters here. The narrative now is that we’re capped out with no room to improve, which is funny, because I remember hearing the same exact thing when people were convinced that we were giving KCP 20 million per year.
