Cheering for Miami and Detroit to get that 8th seed. No Sixers or bucks but I wouldn't mind facing the Pacers

People here wanting to "avoid" a team that's going to wind up as a 7th/8th seed is pretty funny

I don’t have numbers but when I looked prices weren’t all that different from Toronto, at least for lower bowl. Pistons fans have been complaining about it.

It's true. If we lose to Philly, we have no business talking about the Cavs.

Ibaka and JV would neutralize Blake and Drummond. Possible 1st round sweep would give the Raptors rest for the long run ahead.

I find it funny that some are worried about the 76ers.

Phili will be team to avoid, as I said in pre season... still think they will be dangerous... let them battle cle/boston first...

I agree. I admit I would like to face Cleveland in the EF but that is about it. If not now, when?

Why? Why is it better for the bottom teams to fight it out? Do we really want them to take every game/practice more seriously? It might cause them to be in better "competition mode" come playoffs.

Re: Why we should be rooting for Detroit
I don't see any issue with wanting the easiest path to the finals or perceived easiest path to the finals...thats why you play for seeding in the regular season. You don't want to be in dog fights for 2 rounds then have to face Cleveland in ecf. You want to beat up on some lesser opponents in as few games as possible and save yourself for goliath.

I'm saving my money for the conference finals or the real finals... don't care if it's x2 or x3, still going.

I think Pacers are the easiest among Heats, Pistons, Pacers, Sixers and Bucks.

sixers imho, could finish 4 or 5 which leads to a 2nd round matchup with them - that will be tough.
we want them to finish 6 or 7.
we want them to finish 6 or 7.

Re: Why we should be rooting for Detroit
Probably the biggest reason to face Detroit is proximity. Every game for the Raptors would be like a home game. For me I don't care who we face in the first round we're a good enough team to beat any of the teams that we'd face in the first round in 5-6 games.

For me it's more about gaining a favorable match-up with Detroit... the geographical proximity combined with tons of Raptor fans making the trip to our away games will make for a great atmosphere, and help build a bit of rivalry which doesn't really exist with our nearest neighboring team. The AD/JV match-up is always interesting, and I would love to be a part of dispatching overrated meathead Blake Griffin in the first round.
I agree that we shouldn't really be trying to avoid any of the first round opponents, but there's no harm in recognizing that PHI or WAS would be tougher opponents for us than MIA, IND or DET. As first seed you earn the right to say that the seeds below you should have a tougher path, so let CLE and BOS deal with the Sixers over an extended series while we finish ours in 5.

Tell me about it, my sister-in-law lives in Ann Arbor so a free place to stay too. Might go for two games.
