Securing bipartisan agreement seemed especially crucial. Obama’s team “worried that doing so unilaterally and without bipartisan congressional backing just weeks before the election would make Obama vulnerable to charges that he was using intelligence for political purposes.” But Republican leaders, especially Mitch McConnell, refused. McConnell, the Post reports, “raised doubts about the underlying intelligence and made clear to the administration that he would consider any effort by the White House to challenge the Russians publicly an act of partisan politics.” And he was not alone: “Some of the Republicans in the briefing also seemed opposed to the idea of going public with such explosive allegations in the final stages of an election.”

So much for the biased liberal media. They completely give Republicans a pass on this. Pelosi or Schumer would have been crushed if the shoe was on the other foot.

Hopefully out of the bravery of the survivors and the fallen at the Stoneman Douglas High School significant changes can be made in gun control. Two brave young men and one young woman gave up there lives protecting other students.

"The kids, the students at Stoneman Douglas, have been terrific," said Rospierski. "Not just the kids that you've had a chance to hear speak. But I personally witnessed one of my kids, his name is Peter Wang, holding the door pushing kids through the door while bullets are coming at him. I don't know many adults who could have done that, let alone a 14-year-old boy."
Wang, a JROTC student, was one of those killed.

I'm sure Nate won't acknowledge they are trues hero's since they don't meet his concept of being "American" but maybe SD20 can give them his blessing. But then he is bust defending General Bone Spurs.
The U.S. Army is awarding its Medal of Heroism to three Junior Reserve Officers' Training Corps (JROTC) cadets killed in last week's school shooting in Parkland, Florida, an Army spokesperson confirmed Tuesday. The Army awards the Medal of Heroism to JROTC cadets who perform "acts of heroism."

"The achievement must be an accomplishment so exceptional and outstanding that it clearly sets the individual apart from fellow students or from other persons in similar circumstances," the Army said in a statement. "The performance must have involved the acceptance of danger and extraordinary responsibilities, exemplifying praiseworthy fortitude and courage."

Hypocrisy of the tax cuts for business!
They say rank-and-file workers in December voted 93% against Disney's most recent offer of a 50-cent-an-hour raise over the next two years, coupled with a $200 signing bonus. Most unionized Disney World employees make less than $11 an hour, according to the union.

Only 3,000 make more than $15 an hour. The union says the average hourly wage for its members is $10.71.

Eric Clinton, president of the Unite Here local at the theme park, said Disney is forcing the union to accept that same rejected offer for its members to receive the $1,000 bonus due to other Disney employees. [...]

He said the union has filed an unfair labor practice complaint alleging that the demand amounts to punishing members for engaging in legally protected contract negotiations.

Corporate welfare bums and living in a "Right to Work" State.

The Repugnant Party has no shame they are now attempting to use the victims in the "NRA" orchestrated bloodbath in Florida!
Former Rep. Jack Kingston (R-Ga.) suggested on Tuesday that left-wing organizations ― like the one run by billionaire and liberal activist George Soros, a favorite boogeyman of the right ― were using the students who survived the Parkland shooting to advance their gun reform cause

An aide to Florida state Rep. Shawn Harrison (R) on Tuesday dismissed a pair of outspoken Parkland students as attention-seeking “actors.”

Donald Trump Jr. on Tuesday “liked” two posts on Twitter pushing conspiracy theories about one student survivor and his father, a former FBI agent.

All I can say is BS,BS,BS,BS,BS
The Repugnant Party is callous and will stoop to lick any cow plop off the street to make a idiotic point to demean a thinking society. FU

Love seeing Trumps word hoist him up on his own petard!
I think it [Facebook, Twitter, Instagram] helped me win all of these races where they’re spending much more money than I spent.”

President Donald Trump, on “60 Minutes,” Nov. 13, 2016

“Facebook and Twitter were the reason we won this thing.”

Brad Parscale, Digital Director, Trump for President, Wired, Nov. 15, 2016

“…the results of the 2016 election were not impacted or changed by the Russians…”

President Donald Trump, Twitter, Feb. 17, 2018

Logic and facts have never been Donald Trump’s touchstone, nor have they been the forte of those who serve him.

This is huge and could be a sign of things to come. Women and women of color are going to power the Democratic party.

Rebecca Johnson, the lady that lost, seems like another Roy Moore type. She's the widow of Dan Johnson, the guy that previously held this seat. Dan Johnson commited suicide the day after he was outted for having molested a 17 year old girl and committing arson to collect insurance money. He was also a Pastor...

Rebecca had her own issues...She has made light of drug use and domestic violence, used profanity to describe refugees, and lied about how many employees she managed at a job at Louisville Airport.

The craziness of the Johnsons helps explain the big flip...

This doesn't include State/Provincial Taxes or Municipal Taxes in any of these countries so not misleading.
I bought a new SUV for about $70,000 I had 13% added on HST of which 5% was Federal and 7% Provincial added $9,000 to the price of the vehicle. You know better dckingfan those figures are just federal portions of GDP.

Then compare apples to apples :)

Brookings is being intentionally misleading. The US isn't undertaxed and they know it. They are trying to justify their social initiatives and are finding they aren't getting implemented - why? No money - so this is their answer.

You can't take federal taxes out of context - well, you can it just isn't correct. Also, look at the trend line - are our taxes going down?

You must compare apples to apples hell countries like Denmark pay more in Federal tax than USA does in total. The USA isn't a highly taxed country!

\ Ok you guys staaaaaahp!

Before Trump's tax reform we had one of the highest corporate income tax *rates* in the world, despite having one of the lower fed revenue/GDP ratios in the developed world. It's pointless to just look at the United States figures out of context. Brookings is not being intentionally misleading, these are figures based off of what the US reports ITSELF to the World Bank's World Development Indicators and to the OECD, according to standards that every participant in the exercise abides by.

The question is, do we want to have figures similar to those of the EU? Well, we're a rich country and we are full of good, compassionate people, right? So we can afford to pay for healthcare for everyone and it's just a question of whether we are compassionate enough to pony up the money to do it. We are also way smarter than those idiots in the EU and we can probably figure out a cheaper way to do it. But we are not so heartless and cruel to just not help people in need at all, right?

We are also smart enough to walk and chew gum at the same time. We can recognize that expenditures on health and the military are blowing up our budget and still consider guaranteeing health care to everyone who needs it, and because we are super smart we might kill two birds with one stone and figure out a way to leverage nationwide healthcare guarantees into lower overall expenditures on health care. If we can stop yelling at each other for just one fricking second!!!!

Well, I wish them well in getting legislation passed. Hopefully after the assault rifle ban and another half-dozen mass shootings at schools happen we'll all realize the problem can only be solved by more drastic action than Soviet-style command and control regulations - you can manufacture this but you can't manufacture that! The sooner we get around to discussing a tax on all guns that we gradually crank up until the shootings stop, the less innocent children will die.

I think A good chunk of this issue should easily be bipartisan.

Bump stocks , and fully automatic weapons should be fully and completely banned. And that goes for all police and swat teams as well. Only the US military should have that kind of weapon.

In addition and perhaps more importantly we need to not allow troubled human beings or children younger than 21 years old to have access to any type of gun. Where children younger than 21 can only access guns with the supervision of parent. And I’m more than happy bumping that age to 23. In fact, if the legal age For gun ownership is 23 so should drinking, voting And military service. Who’s with me?

But the most important factor is clearly some type of safety and mental health screening. The civil libertarians won’t like it but children need to be profiled and put in databases from the time they’re in third or fourth grade all the way through college.

In addition to profiling children we need to hold any and all accomplices to the letter of the law. No different then a 30-year-old man committing armed robbery...anybody he spoke to about that Robbery can be charged and found guilty of conspiring to commit armed robbery. We need the same for these mass shootings no matter how young. If a 15-year-old dumb **** snot nose kid tells some other dumb **** that he’s going to go to school and shoot up the school, the person he told needs to be held accountable until parents get the full message: that they must communicate with their children and have better relationships with their children so their children will tell them the truth. If this kind of thing happens it must be reported to authorities. Because in all honesty...that’s the only way we’re going to stop these kinds of tragedies. By charging any and all accomplices to the fullest extent of the law. that’s the only magic bullet we got. everything else is window dressing. Children talk. They always talk. They are compelled to talk. They just can’t help themselves. This particular kid was telling people on social media of all places.

That’s why am always perturbed when I hear Shaw and the dumbasses on TBS with this snitches get stitches bull crap. Snitches are hero’s!!
