Hopefully after the assault rifle ban and another half-dozen mass shootings at schools happen we'll all realize the problem can only be solved by more drastic action than Soviet-style command and control regulations - you can manufacture this but you can't manufacture that! The sooner we get around to discussing a tax on all guns that we gradually crank up until the shootings stop, the less innocent children will die.

Similar to taxes, I think civil liability of gun manufactures might be an avenue of correcting the any gun/anyone/anywhere position. The prospect of civil liability would make gun manufactures a lot more interested in gun safety. I think a reasonable gun policy may look something like the Tobacco settlements.

That awkward moment when you realize -- an entire generation of elected officials has failed your state:

Florida House refuses to debate guns, but declares porn dangerous

The Florida House of Representatives was in session on Tuesday, considering several issues. These included a motion to consider a bill banning the sale of assault weapons in the aftermath of the mass shooting that killed 17 people last week at Marjory Stoneman Douglas High School in Parkland, Fla., and a resolution declaring pornography a public health risk.

The House chose not to consider the bill that would lead to stricter gun control.

But it passed a resolution claiming that porn is dangerous.

“Unfortunately, just five days after 17 people were gunned down at a Florida school, the Florida House just passed a bill that declares pornography a ‘public health risk,’” state Rep. Carlos Guillermo Smith (D) told the Independent. “Basically, what they have determined is that these are the Republican priorities in 2018: Wasting our time with debate and legislation that declares porn as a health threat, meanwhile we can’t even get a single debate, vote, or hearing on anything related to assault weapons.”

“That’s really sad,” he added.

The state of Florida is complete trash. Just a terrible place to live. If it wasn't for the nice weather, it would be completely unlivable.

The majority of Americans are against the idiocy of the NRA while they support the ability of people to own a gun. The brave students at Marjory Stoneman Douglas High School stood up and declared we aren't going to take it anymore. Owning a gun should be like owning a car have a license, have it registered, get insurance and have some reasonable restrictions. The morons who support assault type weapons, silencers (Donny Trump), high volume magazines, bullets not aimed at hunting, concealed and open carry of weapons, bump stocks, background checks and other make sense policies. We live in a society with laws as a example I'm not allowed to drive a car right now another 5 months because of my heart operation and my defibrillator. It is a pain in the ass but a reasonable restriction on my civil liberties and it for my safety and the safety of others. The unlimited and frankly unintended interpretation of the 2nd amendment and perpetrated by the NRA. The NRA has bowed to a radical fringe of gun ownership likely 10% who on average own 15+ guns. I have nothing against collectors and know some in Canada but all there guns of certain types are deactivated. Am I against criminals who use guns in crime damn straight think a 20 year minimum sentence should be applied. The Repugnants who take money from the NRA are going to be punished at the polls in 2018.

I think that the country is split on this issue... I agree with Zonk on this one - a nice tax per gun would be helpful. Having to pass a test like a driving test would be fine too. But - nothing is going to change until these numbers change.

Another Repugnant hopeful this time in Arizona is about to bite the dust.
A Republican congressional candidate who is billing himself as a “leader of virtue” in his bid to take over former Republican congressman Trent Franks’ vacant seat received a topless photo from a female legislative staffer, 12 News reports. Former Arizona state senator Steve Montenegro, a married minister, exchanged a series of messages with the unnamed staffer prior to the scandal that erupted last winter when Franks was accused of sexual misconduct

Your numbers are out of date right now the vast majority of Americans want gun controls.

Its 2 to 1 for gun control.

Can you imagine right wing media going bonkers if it were Chelsea Clinton in-place of Jared Kushner?

That would be great if the trend continued. But banning assault weapons and wait times are different from gun ownership? Two different sets of questions, no?

It would be wall-to-wall insanity around the clock.

Jared Kushner wants to operate in the White House without a security clearance, which is good because the process is slow or something.

Hillary Clinton used a private email server, which is very bad (and sick!) because she is clearly and obviously trying to circumvent FOIA requests so she can do treasonous stuff without restraint.

This isn't real, dude.

My wife's a teacher. These questionnaires are extremely common and Jesus/parents are the most prominent answers every year at every school in the country.

Bigger picture...these things are graded for content, grammar and completion.

Public school teachers don't care who you choose. Just that you complete the assignment.

The picture is literally a lie. A fabrication. A falsehood to rile up one group of Americans against another group.

Throughout history issues of race, economics and religion have always been manipulated to distract the masses from larger more pressing issues in front of you.

This is a perfect example.

Gun safety classes should be something both sides agree on. That's supposedly one of the purposes of the NRA - to promote gun safety. And they could be involved in making and providing the tests and classes.

And the attempts by people like James Woods to pass it on as real is nothing but an attempt to promote hate and dissension. The lowest of the low buy into it and pass it on in formats like this message board.

Right! You should have to pass a gun safety class every two years. Show that you know how to handle the guns you have safely. I am just a little left of this... no reason to have more than two or three guns unless you are a collector. But if you are a collector - there should be different more stringent rules on storage and inspection.
