Any word on how the meeting between the players and referees turned out? Haven't seen anything on this...

My take... it seems as if there are less superstar calls this year. I loved it. This is the least amount of bitching about the officials as a fan as i can remember. It appears the days of driving to the hoop and getting phantom calls are over.

Lebron, harden, green, durant, cp3, westbrook, ect. are all whining more than usual. They had become so accustomed to getting the benefit of every call on every flop and yell. And replays generally show that the referees are more often right than not.

Why now, I wonder. Could it be it to bring some parity to the game? I mean GS went 16 -1 in the playoffs last year. CLV beat us 4-1 in the ECF. Think of all the tv revenue that was lost. Think the league looked at it and said get rid of this element of the game and we get longer series?

Regardless, by trying to get rid of the superstar calls the game, to me, has improved. Refs need to stand their ground and these players need to adapt.

I don't think it was that bad. They just seriously jazzed it up.

Easily a top choice for worst of all time. The sultry lounge singer act just doesn’t work for the anthem.

I thought it was cheesy and screechy. There's a reason the players and the audience were mostly laughing. It was un-listenable to the masses. I'm sure some people liked it though; there's always someone that likes something.

Changing the arrangement of the anthem is tricky enough to pull enough, it could've worked if a singer approached it the right way. However you're gonna do it you basically have to stay in your damn lane, can't treat it like you're christina aguilera auditioning for a guns n roses tribute band. This does give me the idea to get booked at a pawsox game, do the gaudiest oversinging rendition-oat and get myself viralz tho :eyebrows:

I mentioned on here a few months back that I have a friend in Philly who regularly serves Reddick at one of Philly's premier restaurants.

He's a good tipper, but the guy is a straight up alcoholic who drinks multiple bottles of wine to the face plus shots throughout and then does it the next day again.

Dude probably has his neurons crossed in that video. My friend said that he's the worst regular alcoholic the restaurant has had in his time there (he's been there a few years now). I doubt his brain is in good shape and we'll probably hear some bad stuff about him down the road if he keeps at the bottle like that.

Yes indeed...

That 4th quarter defense was fun to watch....It was show time early on though...The game got better as everyone settled in......

Say want you want about LBJ....but I thought it was great that he used that platform to show his disgust for what is going on in this country....The man stood up for what is right!......For that reason alone, he deserves his MVP Award!

That's crazy and sad. It makes you wonder how many pro athletes have skeletons like that in their closet.

That being said, it doesn't make him a racist. Sure he slipped up and said something he shouldn't have. I just don't buy it that he had racist intent.

How many times has Charles Barkley made disparaging comments about white people on air? The sad part is he is or at least used to be married to a white woman. Yet no one calls him racist.

What about Chris Rock. I haven't watched him lately but his whole shtick used to be degrading whites.

Racism is not acceptable in any fashion but JJ is not a racist because of a slip in an interview.

No TV revenue was lost. This is often stated and couldn't be more wrong. The NBA was already paid in full by the various networks long before the season even started. They have no vested interest in how long series go.

The networks themselves? Sure. They want longer series. But it would take years, YEARS of short series for it to negatively impact the TV contracts. Even then, as long as the games that are watched are rating bonanzas, which most were last year, they aren't likely to want to walk away. Live sports is one of the few cash cows left for networks. That is why the NFL just got billions more recentlyfor their TV deals.

2019 draft will be the right time AD being in last year of his deal (opting out in 2020)...

And we will have

- sac top 5
- Mem ( let's hope late loterry)
- lac ( let's hope they just make playoffs)

Brown
Tatum
Rozier
Smart (probably on new 10 mill contract)

We will have the best rebuilding package to offer.

We will be close...

"Davis was asked how he feels when he hears about players like Kevin Garnett who regretted not seeking a trade to improve his title chances earlier in his career.

“It makes you think," said Davis. "I’m not going to lie, it makes you think because you wonder if you’re following on that same path. But then again, you be like, this year could be the year. You don’t know. So you just gotta take it year-by-year and just see. See where the team is going, what direction they want to go to, and just see where their head is.”

Davis also said it's not good enough for the Pelicans to simply reach the playoffs."

Sorry AD, but you might not even get the playoffs this year. Feel free to come join us in Boston and have a chance at the finals for years to come.

I'd assume he knew. Crazy to think he didn't.

Idk how to save this situation or make it better? But hopefully he jumps out & handles it.

I like Cuban & hope this news doesn't start a new trend in the NBA.

That's crazy and sad. It makes you wonder how many pro athletes have skeletons like that in their closet.

That being said, it doesn't make him a racist. Sure he slipped up and said something he shouldn't have. I just don't buy it that he had racist intent.

Racism is not acceptable in any fashion but JJ is not a racist because of a slip in an interview.

Racism isn't black and white, it's a spectrum. I'll give you an example. My grandma demands I do not date outside of my ethnicity. Then there are other Asian parents who are only willing to allow interracial dating with White people. Now, what can't be said is both these people are equally racist.

JJ did not mean to use a slur and that's not what I'm accusing him of doing. What I'm saying is that he has used the slur enough in his lifetime to blurt it out. One does not use different sounding words (chahy-neez and chingk) without the two words having an association in their perspective. Does this mean JJ hates Chinese people? No, not necessarily. None of us can read his mind, but it doesn't mean I'm going to group JJ with the KKK or the Nazis.

And yes, people of all races can be racist and it is true White people get much more flak for racism than minorities when they shouldn't if we want to promote real equality. Charles Barkley himself even admitted Black people can be racist:

However, that doesn't mean Barkley isn't racist to a degree himself. I'm willing to bet Charles has made multiple racial comments in his life and I'd make the same bet for almost every single person on this planet.

Chris Rock's standup largely poked fun at Black people and Black culture. He definitely makes jokes at White people's expense, but that's not his main material. Rock had a joke about how as a Black person, there is more respect for time spent in jail than educational degrees and that was a part of a whole bit about ignorance among certain groups of Black people.
