Shareef o'neal
I've seen him ranked 20th in 2019 in a mock draft, but he's listed at 6'9 and recent photos with Shaq puts him closer to 7'0. If he is 7'0, his draft stock could rise.
He seems mobile. He can shoot. The athletism seems there. Any insight about his potential in the nba?

Re: Shareef o'neal
He's pretty mobile for his size with decent measurables and a good skill set. He floats on the perimeter like most kids these days but he'll be a big in the league.
Arizona was a great choice for him. Sean Miller gets his freshmen in the weight room immediately and Shareef's future is as a stretch 4 so the added weight will do him good.
Rashard Lewis is the ceiling I see.

Did you see Lewis early before knee injuries? He was a great player. O'Neal is pretty good but I wonder whether he'll have the motivation to be great because he doesn't need the nba to be set for life.

Im not the biggest fan and I think he has gotten a pretty sizable boost because of his name and Dad.

I mean I wouldn't turn him down as a college player but I think he has limited upside. Ceiling Patrick patterson?

I haven't seen a heap of potential in him so far either, but if he's grown more, perhaps that changes.

His dad wont let him fail.. but his game doesnt seem overly impactful or impassioned to me.

All that pouting from his camp or people around him about the MCDonald AA game left a bad impression. He is fluid for his size tho.

Yeah, I didn't think there was much there, but then I saw the picture below and thought : "If he gets to 7'0, he won't be judged by the same standards as a 6'9 guy."

Never trust pictures that can't tell distance and whether they are standing on anything

We have plenty of footage of Shareef though, he's a solid 6'10 right now and I wouldn't be surprised if he ended up at just a shade under 7'0.

Re: Shareef o'neal
^Shaq's hands look amazingly large there..
Honestly it was in big part the name that got Shareef the AU schollie tbh. He really hasn't shone as much as you would think in high school although he clearly has the height now. I can think of 10 better prospects, at least at this point, in SoCal off the top of my head. Maybe his college coaches will motivate him to put in the work to reach his potential. Can a kid that was a son of an all time great really have the passion to make his own mark in the NBA? We shall see.. Good to journeyman type players such as Dell Curry and Mychal Thompson obviously have sons making noise in the NBA but having Shaq as your father is a whole other story. Of course Larry Nance Jr was a late bloomer(yeah I know totally different type of game than Shareef) so obviously the light could really come on for him at Arizona. I seriously don't see him as a one and done as he has alot of work to put in before he could contribute at the NBA level.

Re: Shareef o'neal
Well as of last summer he was 6'8 without shoes so that's a fast growth spurt

But NBA players are always listed with shoes, so it's not that fast. When we talk about him potentially be 7'0 soon, it's with shoes not barefoot.

He signed financial aid papers which is not an LOI so he can leave. Also a silly term for a kid who’s father is worth half a billion dollars.
