Dealing with Certain Posters

Post#1 » by NuggetsWY » Thu Feb 22, 2018 4:23 pm

I would like to thank our regular Nuggets' Posters for being here and for being good citizens.

Upon occasion, we have had some "problem" posters and I would like to make some suggestions on how you can assist in dealing with them. Derailing, trolling, baiting, and personal attacks - are the biggest issues we must all deal with.

1. Be familiar with the rules: https://forums.realgm.com/boards/viewforum.php?f=191 . Do not break the rules yourself while dealing with "problem" posters. Personal attacks often result from debates with certain types of posters.
2. Do click on the exclamation mark on an individual post. This will flag that post with a warning and all Nuggets moderators will see that post and then decide what needs to be done.
3. Do not engage "problem" posters in debates. Your best option might be to click on their name and select "Add foe". This will block their posts from your vision. When someone else quotes them, you will still see they were involved as a "spoiler" and you will then be able to click on that to see the full discussion.
4. Please be patient. Moderators try to exercise some patience (most anyway  ) and some posters simply need a little education.

This HAS to be a read made for me. I’ve see a lot of people start a new job and come in thinking they’re going to change the way things have always been to make improvements. I laugh then get irrated at the arrogance behind their notions, insistence and blind stupidity. Maybe that’s where my short-temper dealing with a few of these certain posters . While this can explains the underlying ire I have expressed, WY is correct in how they [i] should [/] be dealt with. I for one will try to be more tolerant but I will always keep my Nuggets in high regard and not let them be stomped on !

I'd like to think we are all in this together. One thing I didn't realize when I agreed to be a moderator is that I need to temper some of what I say or I can be called for bias. I can be patient, but I am not afraid to take the necessary action.

I do hope everyone here understands that I have extremely limited powers, but I also have access to the people who have more power. 8-)

I'm a mod at a tennis forum and I can definitely relate to all that/+1 on everything you said so far in the topic, pretty much the same approach we use over there. :)
