It would be great to see the fans give Sean Miller a huge standing ovation next game just to show that no one is in support of the circus that the NCAA has created. A bunch of signs thanking Miller for bringing in talent would be awesome.

And, is it me, or does this seem like something that will blow back on Lauri, too. Like he needs another distraction right now.

I want to see Calipari get busted. He’s worse than Pitino IMO.

Had a HS teammate that was on the coaching staff at tennessee when Bruce Pearl was there. Heard some crazy stories. He told me EVERY Big school bends the rules and sometimes without coaches even knowing. Boosters go directly to families and make donations... Rudy Gay’s Mom received a 250k donation to her daycare... then Rudy signed w UConn.

Even if the NBA removes the one-and-done rule and creates a respectable amateur alternative, college coaches will keep paying players. It's really just a matter of getting caught. This is what college athletics has always been.

Yeah, this is nothing new. There were rumors about how John Wooden used to keep his UCLA teams stocked with all the best talent way back in the 60's.

Now it's worse because the money is so much bigger. It is inevitable that there is going to be corruption when you have that much money at stake. The few 100's of thousands they give to big stars is nothing compared to the money universities make through their basketball programs.

I don't know what the answer is- do you want to have a bidding war among colleges for the services of a guy like Ayton or Bagley? How much would they be worth? 500K a year? A million? Do you have a salary cap for teams then? And wouldn't that make college sports even more unequal, as small schools like Butler would never be able to compete with Duke or Kansas or Kentucky for talent.

Without the revenue that NCAA sports bring in, the university system in this country would collapse. Think about the stakeholders in this insane system: the NCAA, the universities, ESPN and other major networks, advertising agencies, shoe companies, electronic sports games, college fantasy leagues. Holy shite, it's going to be crazy difficult to overcome the entrenched forces at work here.

Perhaps the only solution is to admit that these college athletes need actual money to manage their college year(s). But even with that, how would you stop the side money? It's going to be a struggle.

So Miller has almost 3mil a year salary: wonder if all the professors at the university together have that same amount per year?

"On ESPN’s College GameDay, analyst Jay Bilas said there was “no way” Miller should coach against Oregon and called the payment allegation a “career-ending” development. In a SportsCenter segment, fellow analyst Seth Greenberg – who said he has known Miller for 40 years – said Arizona should put the coach on administrative leave. He added that he would be shocked if Ayton, an All-American candidate, plays another college game."

Doubt this will have any effect at all on Ayton's draft status.

Sounds like Arizona & Miller were well prepared.

Miller's contract provides that even if he is fired with cause, the university would have to pay his base salary. The contract defines his base salary as his salary plus his peripheral salary. That adds up to roughly $10.3 million through May 2022. The only part that Miller wouldn't be entitled to is $1.7 million from Nike and IMG that is due to him if he completes his contract.

In a strange twist, Miller's contract somehow pays him more for getting fired with cause than without cause.

I hope its such a huge scandal that he drops to us!

I bet Miller's goose is cooked. The NCAA must be seething, as is the entire Board at Arizona. I wouldn't be surprised if we've seen Aytons last game as a Wildcat. I really think he is too talented to suffer much, similar to Derrick cheating his way into college didn't mean a thing to NBA teams or most fans.

Ayton was my top choice. Now looking at the strengths of the Bulls an elite passer or two will unlock the offensive potential of this team.

Dunn, Donici, Lavin, Markkenen and Portis will look really good.

My question is can that lineup work to respectability on defense.

No.

Of those players only Dunn is a respectable defender. Markkanen may develop to be one, but is not there yet. Doncic may develop too, but nowadays I think he tries hard but lacks the tools. LaVine's off-ball defence is esxploitable, although he has been a pleasant surprise in on-ball defence. Portis is still struggling on defending pick and rolls, but better with post-ups.

I just saw the news on TV, so I am late to the party. First thing I said to my son was Miller is done immediately and I bet Ayton declares for the NBA draft before the weekend is over. I bet neither one takes the floor again.

I’m not shocked by this at all. I know it goes on and I hate the NCAA system that causes this. So I don’t hold it against Miller or Ayton. And hell, Miller might even be looking at federal time.

But what I do hate is that only Miller and Pitino so far have been busted when I know without question that every major program does it. Every. Single. One.

K, Izzo, Self, Williams, and many, many, many more. I want them all caught, football too, and the whole damn thing burned to the ground.

NCAA isn't going to do anything. Next month they'll make a **** ton of money off March Madness and laugh to the bank. Rinse, wash, repeat.

Miller must've been feeling crazy comfortable to talk about paying a recruit on the phone. At least let one of your lackeys do that.
