2 major announcements for the heavyweight division:
- On Friday, Deontay Wilder and Luis Ortiz was made official for March 3 in Brooklyn, NY at the Barclay's Center. Showtime or CBS will broadcast the fight.
- Anthony Joshua and Joseph Parker have agreed to a March 31 unification heavyweight title fight in Cardiff, Wales at Principality Stadium. As for U.S. TV, Joshua has a contract with Showtime, but any American outlet will be able to bid for the fight with Showtime having the right to match.

Look like Arum is trying to prevent Garcia/Lomachenko from taking place. Even after they verbally agreed to fight.

I'm no fan or Arum, but in this case I understand why he's doing it.
First of all, Loma needs to fight at 135 first. I would like to see him fight a tune up and then face Linares at the end of the year. After that it would make sense to match him up with Garcia. It doesn't make sense for Arum to let his star jump two weight classes against a guy that's grown into a natural junior welter weight. Not everyone can do what Pacquiao did and jump weight classes like they simply don't matter.

I understand why he's vetoing it, but I'm still not happy with it. Let the best fight the best. The two guys both said they wanted one another next, for pete's sake.

That fight can still be made a year from now, with both guys still being in their prime. Let him gradually move up in weight. Linares would be a good test for Loma.

How so? Linares' chin won't be able to withstand Loma's punches on a bad day.

Re: Boxing Thread 4.0
Seriously? I love Loma and all, but a heavy puncher he is not. I mean do I really have to spell it out for you? It would be a good test for Loma because Linares is one of the best at 135. He also possesses the quickest hand speed out of anyone that Loma has faced so far. Also, Loma doesn’t have overwhelming punching power, so who’s to say that it’s going to carry up in weight? His opponents quit due to being demoralized and overwhelmed by pure skill. Not because he battered Rigo and Ax Man into submission. If Loma moves up in weight, Linares would be a good test. It's also a fight that would be appealing to both die hard and casual fans.

Re: Boxing Thread 4.0
Oof, what a hook from Danny Garcia to end Brandon Rios's night. Highly suggest looking it up if you didn't watch it live. It was like a Fight Night KO where Garcia was definitely knocked out on his feet with a slow motion fall.
Jim Gray almost looked like he was about to fight Shawn Porter there.

Re: Boxing Thread 4.0
What a farce of a fight. Rios had no business being in there with Garcia. Match making wise it wasn’t as terrible as Salka, but it’s still bad.
One thing is clear, Porter, Garcia and Thurman don’t want anything to do with Spence.
And should we really be respecting Garcia’s night Jim Grey? The guy fought a washed up Rios.

It was a $hit matchup.
Why rely on nuance, facts and logic when you can bludgeon the other side with mindless repetition of "Duuur McDaniel's has potential
and still be treated as if you were reasonable.

Rios wasn't even in great shape. He was softer than usual around his midsection. For Christ sakes, Bradley got a TKO win over him, and Bradley doesn't even hit that hard.

Rios was game enough before that shot. But LOL that was just a forearm worth of force, no torque from anything, but it looked like Rios got hit by Oswald.
Hi love, bye love, I will miss my love.

I second that. 12th round just might be round of the year.

Re: Boxing Thread 4.0
I didn’t have a problem with the decision, just the ONE judge that scored it 117-111. The fight was a lot closer than that. I had it 115-113 Rungvisai.

Wilder/Ortiz on SHO and while Kovalev headlines on HBO, Bivol-Barrera is a much more interesting fight on that broadcast. Looking forward to these 2 fights tonight.
