Get Jameer Nelson a clipboard and a suit... NOW!
Free Buycks. He's the clear better backup PG option. He can actually get in the lane, actually hit a contact layup, is more athletic and has a much better handle. Jameer can't even score anymore unless he gets an open 3 or mid range, and isn't quick enough to be a playmaker.
I understand SVG gave him a shot to revive his career a bit, but the experiment has failed. Get this man a suit and clipboard. He's had a good career.
If Jameer plays over Buycks for 2 or 3 more games I'm done with the Pistons this year. I can deal with watching development, but I can't deal with watching the coach play the wrong guys when it's so obvious and us suffering because of it.

Agreed... it's not even close.
As radical as it sounds, I'd start Buykes and let Ish keep his role off the bench so it's easier to reintroduce Reggie once he's healthy.

Can't believe we had to add incentive of any kind in a trade to get this dude.
I'd rather have any G-League starting PG.

The fact that Jameer Nelson is on this team and actually getting minutes is the nail in SVGs GM and Coaching coffins. I refuse to even tune into a game when Jameer Nelson is on the floor.
Dwight Buycks fits so much better into the starting lineup, he actually plays more like RJ than anybody on the team. Stevie Wonder can see how he fits in the first unit. Gm/Coach trainwreck

You need 2-way wings, 2-way shooting bigs, and you can't allow low iq players on the court. Assist/turnover ratio is crucial. Shooting point guards are icing on the cake IF they are plus defenders.

whatever. We don't have a starting pg. Nelson is toast, but Buycks isn't the answer either. We're starting 3 guys that might not even be in the rotation on most playoff teams.

Meanwhile in New York, my boy Mudiay puts up 23pts 7ass 2rb 2stl 1blk on 9-15fg and 4-6 from 3 in 31 mins. All it took to get him was McDermott and a 2nd round pick, that’s virtually a dump.
I’ve always liked this guy and while not ever putting it together in Denver, I always thought he could still become something. Give me Mudiay over Ish, Byucks or Nelson any day!

Mudiay might make it somewhere, but it wasn't going to be here. With our frontcourt, we need our perimeter players to be able shoot from distance.

Mudiay could easily have made it here, he was shooting 37% from 3 this season before getting traded to NYK. He’s athletic, and for all of SVG’s flaws he usually does an alright job with point guards.
It’s hilarious that you are quick to strike down a low risk high reward prospect that would have only taken a neutral salary and 2nd round pick to obtain due to shooting but defend our $160m “star” power forward who can’t shoot and blame it on the coach.

Blake was shooting 34%. So what. Neither are shooters.
And no, he's not high reward. If he actually played well for us, he would have walked. We aren't going to be signing any big free agent deals.

Yeah on 5.7 attempts per game, he was hurting his tram by taking so many. Mudiay is 21 years old and has improved his % each season. Griffin is turning 29 in a couple weeks and is who he is.

Progress! NO NELSON TONIGHT!
Lowry refused to miss... had a few pivotal turnovers vs. the #1 team in the East... not a bad loss. We looked a lot better.

I dont get why we didnt trade for either Mudiay or Payton. Payton was had for a high 2nd round pick right. So id imagine 2 detroit 2nds would of got the job done. I mean we were already all in for the playoffs why wouldnt u go after him?

Because we couldn't afford to keep him as a free agent. It would have been a couple month rental. 2nd round picks aren't great assets, but we really don't need to give up any assets on a rental right now. We're going to have a hard time filling out the roster with blake, dre and rj signed long term.

I get their rentals but if the plan was to go for the playoffs this season then getting one of these guys makes alot of sense. We gave up a future 2nd rounder to get Ennis on a rental deal so clearly SVG was fine giving up 2nd round picks for rentals. Getting either Payton or Mudiay would of been way more useful then getting Ennis
You cant tell me that SVG values 2nd round picks highly or something. He doesnt even seem to value 1st rounders much. He tried trading a top 8 protected 1st for a banged up Donatas Motiejunas when we were under 500 a few years ago. Shipped out another for Blake.
I guess its just SVG thought Nelson was good enough to fill the void until R.jax was back.

I don't think ennis is a rental. I think SVG thinks he can resign him pretty cheaply to fill out the bench. Payton and Mudiay both still want to be starters, so they aren't going to sign cheap deals to compete with ish for backup pg minutes.
But yeah, i think SCG undervalues first round picks. Of course, with his drafting record, that isn't surprising.
