Fire SVG
I loved SVG, i was his biggest supporter. I was so happy that a 'great' coach would take over Dumars mess. He is a basketball fanatic, his analysis after the game is excellent. I really enjoy hearing him talk about basketball. But his stubbornness and inability to adjust to the modern NBA has ruined this team. He is an average coach at best. His offense stinks. Bad play calling, bad rotations.
After all Dumars and SVG win now approaches were very similar, both have set back the franchise for years trying to acquire 'star' talent and not worrying about fit. Blake can't shoot well, he is a bad fit next to Drummond and coach SVG has no idea how to utilize Griffin. Starting 2 absolute non-shooters next to Drummond and Griffin in Ish and Stanley is about as mad as it can get. This team is set up to fail and its SVG's fault.
He ruined this teams future flexibility for years to come going all-in for a bad fit. No one wanted Griffin as he hit the trade market, the Pistons overpaid to get him and are probably stuck with him for years to come. PF who can't shoot and can't defend the basket are the most useless type of players in todays NBA. Harris was a 1000 times better fit next to Drummond than Blake is.
SVG needed 3 years to adjust his offense and pick up a more modern playing style, i have no confidence in him anymore to make this mess work.
At this point all i can hope for as a long time Pistons fan is a huge losing streak that gets VanGundy fired and improves the odds to get into the top 3 draft spots and keep the pick.

In two years when the Griffin contract starts to get unbearable, people are gonna be talking about SVG the GM in the way they are talking about Isiah, Kahn and King.

I'd really find some peace if Gores just stripped SVG of his POB title... for now.

Fire SVG before the offseason. Hire Hinkiee and Blatt.
We need to trade Blake THIS offseason. Were going to lose value on him. We need to move him now before he has another injury. He turns 29 in two weeks. If we dont move him ASAP its going to be a ugly 5 years.
Dont give up hope yet. Were not in the 5 year of pits that we could be. We need Gores to wake up and realize how bad of a spot SVG put us in. We need to rebuild the right way its going to take alot of time but it can be done.

This is exactly what I said a couple weeks ago. The Pistons are so inept and hopeless they are tanking while trying to win.
Problem Is, the logo knew that there are 9 other teams with a 10 game head start in tank ing, so it's likely he gets a top 10 pick in one of the deepest drafts in a long time
You need 2-way wings, 2-way shooting bigs, and you can't allow low iq players on the court. Assist/turnover ratio is crucial. Shooting point guards are icing on the cake IF they are plus defenders.

Yeah only SVG would think he could get one over on the nbas logo.
We could of been sitting here not even sweating these losses if we had our 1st rounder. Colin Sexton as a future pg or either Bridges starting on the wing for years to come. Instead we get no hope and the ghost of Blake Griffin for 30-40 mill for the next 4 seasons.

Time might be right for Izzo to move on from MSU after all the negative news coming out of East Lansing lately. I think this could be the year he finally jumps to the NBA.

Re: Fire SVG
You can rip on SVG the PBO and rip on SVG the coach... but I really respect SVG the man, and that makes me hesitant to really tear into him. His comments today on the NCAA (as a governing body) were on point and appropriately condemning.

I respect SVG as a person.
But it's time to move on.

Re: Fire SVG
I kinda get what SVG is doing with the Blake move. He sees the entire league moving to spreading the floor, going small, and 3 pt shooting bigs, they zig he zags. Maybe he could of went on a run for the 8 seed and broken basketball with the twin towers(despite Davis/Cousins not breaking basketball).
Worst comes to worst this off season hits SVG knows how the stretch provision works, waive Blake this off season will only owe him around 16mill-2027.

Re: Fire SVG
Keep Blake as a center and move Andre? There isn't a pretty path out of this. SVG swung for the fences - if we don't get the playoffs, he might start to get his paychecks elsewhere.

Blake at center would suck because he offers no rim protection. Its important for your center to be a rim protector in todays nba. You can get by with the center not being a rim protector if he can shoot the 3pt and you've got a 4 who can make up for your 5s weakness in rim protection. Blake cant shoot the 3pt shot very well nor rim protect.
I was down to move Drummond at last deadline as were alot of people. I guess the market was sour on him. I never dreamed he would improve his free throw % by 25% in one offseason like he has. I'm glad we didnt sell him for pennis at that time.
I was still down to trade him on this deadline. I even proposed deals to the Cleveland board of Drummond for the nets pick +some bad salaries to match. They had no interest . Also thought of a deal of Drummond to the celtics for Brown/lakers pick their board also had no interest. I wanted to go for a real rebuild and thought if we could get 2 lotto picks in a REALLY good draft it would be a genuis play.
Trade Drummond to build around Blake? Whats the point? Were not going to get a mega package back for Drummond. At best we become as good as the current clippers were with Blake with the guys we take back. Yeah we would be better then current Blake/Drummond pistons but thats not saying much at all.
I've enjoyed Drummonds improvements this season. Hes really stepped up. Hes the one good player still on the team we drafted this decade. I'd of shipped him out for a nice lotto pick to go for a real rebuild during the deadline, but not to just build around Blake. Thats gross. We gotta ship Blake out and cut the losses now.

Re: Fire SVG
It's pointless to fire SVG now. He need to be fired as soon as the season is over. We're not going to win a lot of games for the rest of the season, so might as well play the young players and Buycks to see if they're worth anything.
I do believe we have a good team, and they fit really well together, sadly, SVG is lost and is doing everything wrong with his lineups. We need shooters around Andre and Blake, and we have plenty of those in our roster.

Re: Fire SVG
I just threw that out there in the scenario that we can never trade Blake. Agree with most of your points. But what were you worried about selling Drummond for?

Re: Fire SVG
Stan gambled everything on Blake and it now seems clear that it is not going to work out...
And now we’re stuck with this mess. The future looks bleak. There is prob only 2-3 teams I wouldn’t switch situations with: Sac, Orlando and Memphis ...And that’s probably it. Even Brooklyn with that front office and coaching staff seems better poised for the next 5 years than the pistons

I would blow this team up in the off season. But SVG walks away first. He failed with this roster, which he assembled 4 years in.
Trade Andre, Blake and Reggie. Time to bring in a new leadership not LA celebrity wannabe players.
Andre simply doesn’t bring it every night. Give me Andre for Kristaps. Dre hails from New York so Knicks might bite.
Trade Blake this off season for whatever wing we can get.

Realistically, nothing is changing until Gores embraces a true rebuild approach.

Good job fans. Social media day and age you can let the important people know how u feel. SVG has failed hard and everybody outside of the Stan Stans knows it. Fans want blood.
Gores has gotta be considering getting rid of this guy. I'm sure he thought people would be interested in watching the pistons if they got Blake. Instead its got people interested in spamming his instagram.
SVG's seats getting hot. He better do much better job coaching tomorrow then he has the past two games.

He's definitely going into the pantheon of horrible team president/GM's. So many horrible, short sighted moves that ultimately didn't garner short or long term gains.
Shaq's words ring loudly- the master of panic.
