Re: NBA Draft and NCAA Basketball
I wonder if we'll see a ripple effect of this scandal where the next wave of top high schoolers say screw it and go get legit money overseas or even the gleague.
I assume this whole thing will spook programs and there will be far less bag money to go around.

Similar to what happened with Porzingis when he was booed by Knicks fans on draft day.
I'm pretty sure he used that to take his game to another level.

Kinda off topic but I played a lot of oldschool's NCAAB PC games and pretty much all of them had an option to bribe/offer money for prospects.
I always thought this was really odd and I dont know why a game would encourage that kind of behavior.

Looks like that's UA's independent attorney they hired to look into the alleged incident. Did you read the responses to the tweet? Schlabach now taking some heat for his story.

I doubt it. He doesn't do much but score. Shai Gilgeous Alexander with a good game. I have a feeling the Suns end up with a big with their first pick and Alexander with Miami's.
I came across my first mock draft that predicted the Suns would take Knox with the Heat pick.
It had Ayton with our 1st pick and Knox with our 2nd....caught me off guard; I hadnt come across that one yet.

So far it's somewhat dubious reporting with this Ayton stuff. If there was any evidence of money being paid to Ayton, I'm sure there would be criminal charges somewhere, like there were for the assistant coach for more minor stuff.
Who knows what Shaq's son is thinking?
I mean I think it's fair to say that the team is gonna go down fast here, they have a really poor roster for next year already with likely Trier and Alkins leaving and nobody of note coming in, I'd guess Romar might the the HC job? Miles Simon would be a candidate but he is involved in some AAU team that has funneled some of these guys around, so they might want to stay out from him (Romar has been doubious too but nothing proven).
Like the roster might be down to;
Williams-Barcello
Smith
Randolph
Akot
Jeter-Lee
That's it, not sure how much juice they are gonna get from it.
I know it's pipe'ish and insensitive, my condolences Wildcat fans, but with 2 incoming transfers and Taeshon Cherry's recent commitment, ASU's 2018-2019 roster could suit 3 NBA caliber prospects.
If we can somehow manage to redirect a couple of Wildcat recruits to the Maroon and Gold, this incident could be the springboard that catapults our beloved Devils to basketball supremacy in the State of Arizona!
-So how about it Shareef; you'd still be in Arizona?
...alright, well it was worth a shot!

Im guessing it will increase the chances of Silver removing the 'one and done' rule and once again allowing high school prospects the option to go directly to the NBA.
..could make for another interesting draft in 2019! Although, i think the bucks will find a way to give us their pick this year.

Ayton. I want him for the Suns. Period. If we get the #1 pick he is my choice without question.

I was surprised to see Ayton atop your big board...I had been thinking you were wanting Trae Young #1 after mentioning you felt it was destiny, or supposed to happen (or I think something like that)....at least that you think that's who McD wants I think.
Ayton would certainly be hard to pass on.

Jaren Jackson with another Jaren Jackson game - 11 points, 6 rebounds, 2 blocks, 2 steals.

Mark Schlabach starting to look pretty dumb...they are taking him to it in the comments on this tweet....of course the damage is mostly done for AZ though. I won't be surprised if they end up clearing Sean Miller though unless they get some real evidence of something themselves.

I think the story was such a bombshell that it took people a while to start putting together some of the details. Arizona will get in some trouble regardless but Miller may have grounds for a lawsuit later on.

Do you guys think there is a chance that Silver lifts the 1 and done rule in time for this draft class with all the NCAA stuff coming out?

Ayton has been on top for me, I think for the whole time. I just did not figure we would get the top pick. Trae was a little behind, but he is the player that they are most likely to get based upon who they want. Not sure if Payton moves that needle at all for the Suns or for me. If Payton really plays well and meshes with this team, yikes, I am not sure how to respond to that.

Yeah the earliest that change would happen is the 2019 draft.

The NBA wants a thriving NCAA to channel college sports fans to the NBA. It is unlikely that any replacement system for young stars would be nearly as helpful to the ability of the NBA to attract new fans. It would take a remarkable event to get the NBA to drop the 1 year NCAA eligibility requirement.

Re: NBA Draft and NCAA Basketball
If the Miami pick did drop to 12, would we feel comfortable taking Sexton there? I think we probably would and should, but, he has not been the player so far that I hoped he would be. I don't know if even at his optimal outcome that he is the player we want to put next to Booker, unless he can become a lockdown defender. Miles Bridges most likely would never drop that far, but he'd be a great pick. He can be Tobias Harris with better defense.
