The problem here is that we are allowing 2 players to be picked with 1 pick. As I mentioned if this were the prospect draft, you would have had to forfeit the next pick, but no such option with the FA draft.

Anyway, here is what we are going to do
1. Ohtani is ineligible to be drafted in the prospect draft
2. Whoever picks him in the FA draft will need to drop 2 players to make room.
3. From that point on, for trades or drops, both players will need to be included/dropped.

If anyone has any objections or thoughts, now is the time to speak up.

In my opinion we should consider Ohtani a prospect. He is below the limit of 50 IP or 130 AB. I also believe it's more fair for someone to get him by winning the lottery instead of being inactive for most of last season and get the #1 pick in FA draft basically for free.

With dinamo in this. The player is a prospect should be given out random with loto system. Being inactive most season and hence having top waiver(I mean if u not competing u have 0reason to use waiver) shouldn’t lead u to get the best prospect of the offseason.

It really isn't for free. People have avoided waiver wire transactions all last season in order to have a high pick (ME). Darvish was in the FA draft too.

Yeah, that's true and I'm sure that affected a lot of decisions for OldNo7 too.

I have no problems in making Ohtani eligible to be picked in the FA draft. The only point where I'm balking is how to allow someone to pick 2 players with 1 pick.

How about this - whoever picks Ohtani in the FA draft forfeits their first round prospect pick as well. I know it is kind of arbitrary, but we have not had a situation like this in the past.

As second in the draft, I have no problem with oldno7 getting both of him with just that one pick. Yahoo is the one that botched the handle of this case.

It’s yahoo fault as Ty said. None of the other international signings were prospects. That said I have no issue with him counting as two roster spots while being held to compensate for Yahoo weirdness.

And to the previous posts. I didn’t lose by being inactive and falling into a good pick. I’ve been around the block.

Also I think it’s more fair I forfeit a second round FA pick or later prospect pick. First round prospect pick for a last place team seeks a steep price.

Well, it would be a disadvantage if Ohtani the hitter or Ohtani the pitcher were not plus options. So whoever drafts him gets a gifted 23 year old hitter & a pitcher.
