Nashty & Cactus: Game 62 vs Pelicans

Post#1 » by bwgood77 » Tue Feb 27, 2018 3:36 am

Standings

How it works
Spoiler:
After each Suns game, an MVP thread will be opened for you to vote for your top 3 players. These threads can be created by anyone, as long as there isn't currently a thread for that game.

Anyone can vote for the 3-2-1 (including other fans from other forums) but you can only vote for the Suns players (or coach).

3 votes to who you think was a the best Suns player.
2 for the second best
and 1 for the 3rd best.

**EDIT: as of January something-or-other 2017, you can now distribute votes for the Nashty and Cactus however you please. You have a total of 6 votes to give out, but now you have the freedom to do what you want with those 6. The only condition which applies is no more than 3 votes can be given to one player (or coach) in either award. **

In the event of a Suns loss, you are also encouraged to vote for the Cactus of the game:

-3 votes for the player most responsible for the loss
-2 votes for the second most responsible
-1 for the third most responsible

Any votes with more than 3 players listed and not in the required format will not count. Voting will close before the start of the next Suns game.

After the thread closes, the votes will be tallied. The highest scoring total Sun gets 3 points, the next 2, and the third gets 1 point towards their season total. In the event of a tie in a count for a game, if the result of the game is a Suns win, a maximum of 4 players will be awarded points. A tie in the event of a loss will only result in a maximum of 3 players getting awarded points.

The player with the highest total at season's end wins the award!

The same applies for the Cactus of the Year, although of course the lowest tally at year's end takes it.

This is a tough one because they all played hard.

Bender gets -3 ( I know he's better than that, he started off okay )

Payton had a decent game and again passes were mishandled, but lol at the -22 which is insane. He was out a lot of the time where booker came in and got insanely hot but still lol, gotta give a -1.5 to him

-1.5 to Len , but it could have been Chriss too.....They played hard though, and Chriss got a bad call on that screen.

+3 Booker - efficient 40/10/7 games always get a +3 from me
+1.5 JJ - not the most efficient shooting game but he did get to the line 11 times, htiting on 8. Also JJ's first career 20/10 game!
+1.5 TJ - OK game. Put up his standard 20+points on so-so percentages

-2 Daniels - 2 3PTA's, hitting none. Logged a -9 in 21 min of action. Largely forgetable
-2 Chriss - for his standard dumb ass mistakes. Nice blocks and decent rebounding but man, the kid's gotta work on his fundamentals
-1 Payton - didn't want to give him one but when you're -22 for the game with as many TO's as assists, you gotta get a dishonorable mention in the Cactus column
-1 Len - 2 rebounds and fouling out in 21min is gonna get you in here.

HM: Bender had his typical marshmallow soft game but gets an HM for the 7 assist (career high) on 1 turnover.

That was a good game by Bender imo...7 assists to 1 to, 6 boards and 50% from 3 (hitting 3 of them). He always can be better but I think his contributions were pretty good tonight.

True im focusing on the negatives to much for a young player. 6 fouls in 25 minutes. Then i think he missed the rest of his shots after making his first 3.

Davis went to town on pretty much our entire front line and comparatively, Bender had a good game. That's why I couldn't give him a Cactus but I couldn't put him in the Nashty column either. He wasn't great but 9/6/7 would be a decent stat line for most 20 year olds.

Honorable mention to Bender. Wish he could have stayed out there.
