I think Maryland will lose their first game in the B1G Tournament to Wisconsin.

They will be one and done in my opinion.

(Maryland sucks....)

Duke lost to Virginia Tech!

Grayson Allen has not been good IMO. I enjoy it when Duke McDonald's AA five star players lose.

They're IMO cheating to get those players.

I hate Duke but they don't have to cheat to get players.

Already looking towards next season. It looks real good assuming everyone stays - which may be a bad assumption. But if everyone does return, we got:

PG: Anthony Cowan and Eric Ayala
SG: Kevin Huerter and Dion Wiley
SF: Justin Jackson and Aaron Wiggins
PF: Jalen Smith and Ivan Bender
C: Bruno Fernando and Schnider Herard

And Darryl Morsell certainly figures to get some playing time - and perhaps Josh Tomaic. That could be a helluva team. The entire starting 5 have NBA hopes - and Wiggins could be special. Ayala might be a bit of a weak spot, but he's the backup PG the team was lacking.

I don't think Jackson and Fernando stay (maybe one does), but I did hear Jackson feels he needs one more year and his parents are pushing him to get a paycheck, which means G-League. If they both stay, Maryland is in very good shape. If they both leave, unless Jalen Smith is freakin' amazing right away with that slender frame, it's hard to believe they'll be much better than this season. I'm not even sure Bender returns with all his health issues. They need to add at least one juco big man and another combo guard that can back up Cowan. Also don't forget about Morsell at the 3/2 unless you think he's a one-and-doner. :D

Can't disagree with your takes, but I think the G League would be a bad choice for Jackson. G League doesn't pay much, and if they really need money now, there are companies that will advance athletes money in exchange for a percentage of future earnings. I know Jonathon Schoop of the Orioles used one of those companies when he was coming up. It's gonna end up costing him millions, because he's making nice money now even before he's eligible for free agency.

Fernando's not even close to being ready, but yeah - it's possible someone guarantees him he'll be picked in the first round. Next year's draft though - wow, it looks horrific, and ordinary players are projected to be top 10 picks. He could hit a gold mine if he stays 1 more year. Btw, they've already got a center transfer in Shnider Herard with 2 years of eligibility left. Yes, I mentioned Morsell - somebody's gotta lock him up for a few months in a gym with a good shooting coach. Aside from shooting, he's a talented player.

Sorry for not getting excited about Schmider Herard, who did nothing at Miss. State but he's big. Sounds a little like Shaq Cleare, who was big and that was about it. Fernando has the body, the athleticism, the motor. Just needs another year and he'll be a monster. But Maryland rarely gets those breaks of young big players with talent returning.

Not expecting Bruno or Justin to return.

Thanks to DJ Durkin, big Ralph Freidgen will be returning in some capacity.

That's good to hear. Ralph should never have been run out of town, but I like Durkin. The guy in between them was a complete failure.

Not a big fan of the Fridge. Seems like a very bitter man and had issues before that with how he treated people but he is a Md guy and did win when others couldn't. Glad to see he's back on board.

I know this is the Terps thread...
but I wanted to give a shout out to the Retrievers of UMBC. They have advanced to their 2nd ever NCAA tourny with a win over Vermont to secure America East conference title.

Jarius Lyles is better than whoever Maryland recruited.

We discuss Lyles the second-round thread. He won't be drafted but he is worth a second round pick.

As a Towson guy, big ups to UMBC. Lyles is a very good college player. A steal for UMBC as a transfer from VCU. Not sure he's good enough to be a point guard at the next level at 6-2. Very much a combo guard. He'll get an invite to a camp.
