Wow, never seen that before, Melky hits a ground rule double off the pitcher... hard liner off the pitchers foot, rebounds directly into the stands over the Yankees dugout for a ground rule double.

5-1 Yankees

Thank god for Wang. This rotation would be atrocious without him.

Who says Cano is a bad 2B? That he has no range?

 Funny you say that, I JUST posted in the Cano/Pedrioa thread for everybody to watch Baseball Tonight for Cano's web gem. As impressive as his range was on that play, I think I'm more impressed with his ability to throw accross his body like that. And it's not just this time, he always seems to do that flawlessly somehow.

Phil at 1 PM today.

I am hoping for a good 5 inning performance from him. I don't expect him to be that sharp today. But I'm so excited, I've been waiting for this moment for 3 months.

:wavefinger: Phil will NOT use up 100 pitches in 5 innings

I can't wait to see what kind of performance Hughes will put up today, even though it's against the Royals.

Good luck for the WC race guys.

Everytime this kid takes the mound it's an event. It's strange to be this excited about a Yanks/Royals game.

I keep thinking of Prior, but the person he reminds me of most is Mussina (when he was good).

Most of the comparisons coming up through the minors were Prior, but either one is a damn good comparison.

The most amazing thing is that usually a 20 or 21 year old pitcher coming into Yankees Stadium faces some real growing pains. But he is so damn advanced both mentally and physically, he may not even face them. It makes those lofty expectations by us Yankee fans seem like a real possibility to be achieved right away, although we don't want to get ahead of ourselves.
