...Fizdale, though — sources report that he has his eye on the Lakers job, and the feeling is that his strong ties to James can help the Lakers land LeBron when free agency opens on July 1. James didn’t just support Fizdale after his firing. He went on the attack, saying on Twitter, "I need some answers. Feels like my man was a fall guy." That’s how highly he regards Fizdale, an LA native.

The league view is if the Lakers can land James with Fizdale’s help, they’ll have to move on from Luke Walton. (ESPN's Brian Windhorst also reported last month executives and agents around the league anticipated the Lakers might go after Fizdale..)

I really like Luke Walton as HC and it would suck if he lost his job cause of LeBron trying to hire "his guys" on the Lakers.

It would be hilarious if he goes to Philly and gets Brett Brown fired. Thanks for trusting the process Brett but we're getting LeBron now, off on your bike you go.

I'm ok with Fizdale as a ready made assistant coach.

Sort of like a pseudo Sword of Damocles.

I'd like to give Luke a real chance first

I've been on board with Magic from the beginning. Happily supported him, and twice as happy to oust Jimmy. But removing Luke will be the first Major mistake by Magelinka. I would write in every day to Laker offices and call him out. Luke has access and direct knowledge to the style of play that we want to get to as a team. Speed fast paced game. Ball movement. No single man on top, everybody watch and stand around offensive structure. That sh** can't beat the warriors. Luke's ability to adjust has been amazing to me. IT got hot last night, Luke of course read that, and called 4 or 5 different sets to get him the ball. Last year with the Celtics, and similar with lebron, it's everyone watch and you go 1v1. We need to go more everyone touching the ball, and anyone can bring the ball up. Fizdale would be a huge blunder.

Why are you saying Miami like they're a bad team lol.

The others are for sure bad.

Have you guys heard the Quin Snyder talk? Random talking heads saying if Luke sputters with free agent signed team they have Quin who has history with the Lakers in the back stove. They'll keep Luke as long as they are developing their youth though.

They were missing a couple of their guys as well. I mean its still a good road win. Just keeping some things real. Next group of games will tell us more.

This season was about improvement and progress.

The only true stat for that besides the eye test that matters to me is the W-L column.

Check. Mission accomplished. I stick to my number nine in the WC prediction, which would be a serious upswing. If things fall apart for some other teams...

Luke will be a great NBA coach. It would be a huge mistake to lose him now. Just like it would be to lose Lonzo, BI, Kuzma, Randle, Hart in their beginning years of NBA.

Luke stays. Fiz can be his assistant if BronBron wants him around.

Kuzma only averages 5.9 rebounds per game, so is he more of a SF? Randle isn't a beast by any means (just 7.5 per game), but that's better than 5.9. With Ingram, I don't see how Kuzma has a future here. So with Nance and Clarkson gone, I feel like Lakers need to sign some bodies this summer just to have quality depth. Randle should stay IMO, or if they lose him, then Kuzma becomes starting PF?

I agree. I always thought Luke would be fine, but I worried about him learning ropes with a young team. I will admit I wanted Mark Jackson...and still did until recently. I think I am finally ready to concede that Luke has been a great fit, and was the better choice. Luke will also be the better choice down the road. Mark is a bit of a "my way, or the highway" guy. Luke will work better once this team is a contender again.

I think IT has come and fit in great. He's not a mega-star like Lebron (don't tell him that!) but in a way he's worse: he's DESPERATE to prove his worth over the next 20 or so games. Already a bit of a 'me, me, my ball, my shots' player....and yet we've had 5-6 guys in double-figures, and a real seamless integration through ball-movement. <----- guys, this is "Warrior Ball". All those stories about how tight the Warrior locker room is. About how it's just a healthy environment to be in. Your hearing that / seeing that with the Lakers now. I think Luke deserves the lion's share of the credit there. This IT thing could have been a disaster. For a second there, it looked like it was gonna be. But after only 2-3 games, it's been just great.

A) your kinda getting a feel for how it will be with a star player here. B) You see how well it can work with a guy who wants his shots, and yet the team can still have all players playing a part.

This is a young team...I don't want to throw my hands up and scream "mission accomplished" ....as there will be the other side of the coin for a spell sometime soon. But this team has to be looking REALLY REALLY good to top FA's right now.

Barring a disaster....this is an A+ coaching season by Luke.

Randle and Kuzma are both under 30 minutes per game. Add two rebounds each when they are getting ~32 minutes. Now Kuzma is at 7.9 and Randle is at 9.5 rebs

Minutes

SF: Ingram (32) Kuzma (16)
PF: Randle (32) Kuzma (16)

Or we get George, imagine the length

PG: Ball (32)
SG: Ingram (32) Hart (16)
SF: George (32) Kuzma (16)
PF: Randle (32) Kuzma (16)

Or Lebron and George

SG:Ingram (32) George (16)
SF: George (16) Kuzma (32)
PF: Lebron (32) Randle (16)
C: VetMin/ZuBryant (32) Randle (16)

None of those teams have a problem with rebounding

Now that he's settled on a consistent rotation and the right guys (i.e. Randle) are starting, I haven't had a single complaint with Luke. Hope he's with us for a long, long time.

The takeaway for me was that we shot 40% from 3pt in the month of February.

That seems to have rolled over to March.

To put that in perspective, GSW are shooting 39.8% from 3pt on the season.
