This was more blatant than the one against Wesley Johnson.

He hits game winner against Nuggets, pushes Jamal Murray enough that he stumbles backwards and Murray looks at the ref, can't believe Harden was allowed to do that and can't recover to contest the shot.

Yep, obvious, blatant, deliberate, all of the above.

The only way this changes, is if guys start taking techs, or even an ejection. The refs just turn a blind eye for some reason. Maybe they do just miss the call, but it needs to be pointed out and highlighted often against this guy. Make it a thing that the media discuss and point out in a big way. He gets to play the game in an illegal way that benefits him, it’s crap.

If he does it on anyone not named Green or Durant for us, I want the, to take a tech or ejection by going overboard about it.

What's ridiculous is you have former NBA guys like Jalen Rose and others gushing about how bad ass it was, instead of pointing out the blatant infraction.

Hell, they even broke down MJ's move against the Jazz and a lot of people agreed that Michael got away with a push on the Utah defender to free up space to hit that series-clinching jumper.

So why is Harden or Paul not getting criticized when they push off way more than MJ did?

On RealGM, most fans of other teams know about Harden's shenanigans but to the general NBA fans, they're probably watching on ESPN and NBA TV and unless the broadcasters call it out, they think it's some great move.

Hell when the move against Wesley Johnson went viral, they were tweeting the video like it was the greatest thing. Have NBA fans on social media never played basketball or have a slightest familiarity with the rules?

I think players are complaining to the refs when it happens. And occasionally the refs will call it but so far, they're unwilling to call it more often so Harden has nothing to lose by keep doing it.

NBA probably loves it when Harden posts gaudy numbers so the refs probably think they don't want to be the party poopers.

I just want to see if the officiating changes any in the playoffs, especially in the later rounds against other premier teams. They let MJ do it in the clinching game of a Finals series but he was the biggest star in the game. Certainly Harden is a big star but nowhere near the stature that MJ had.

I personally think that it's ridiculous, as Harden clearly shoves and pushes Johnson backwards causes him to fall. Should have been an offensive foul, have no idea how the refs missed that. It wasn't even sneaky like MJ's last Bulls shot on Russell, it was a clear bully shove from Harden.

That is all.

agreed on the move

but the whole stop and stare thing was amazing. Probably the most disrespectful thing Ive seen on a court since Shawn Kemp regularly murdered our dudes on dunks

Rip Chris Gatling or was it come other stuff?

The 2 second stare down by harden dwarfs anything that came before it. Amazing.

The dunk you're almost surely thinking of was Alton Lister. It still gives me nightmares.

The Lister Blister is Shawn's all time best no doubt, but his dunk on Gatling from a standing start was monstrous as well. Love the low 5 after it as well, Gatling knew, respect.

wco81 wrote:Actually, CP3 pushes off a lot too with his offhand, especially when he gets into the paint.

In one of the Warriors games, he was getting away with it all game long until he got called for offensive foul against West of all people.

Announcers were all like "look at him break David West's ankle" but it was a big push off.

In previous years Harden wasn't doing it that much because he was more about getting the defenders arms entangled in order to get cheap fouls on them.

He still does that of course but the step-back jumpers have been huge for him this year and he's shooting better than last season, especially from 3 and a lot of those attempts involve the push off.

So he probably learned it from Paul, or maybe since he wasn't suppose to get as many calls with the tactics he used last year when driving to the hole, he's looking to use the step back more.

No player in the NBA goes around the line of how much one can get away with as Harden. You're absolutely right. He would put his arm around someone and shoot consistently until it got banned, now he's constantly pushing whenever he drives and shoots a 2. Part of the reason he's so deadly in isos is because of the fouls he gets. Look at the comical Brown foul at the 3 point line, sometimes even being near him, he'll move his hand to your hand and get a 3 point play. Drive, push, 2 point jump shot. And then around the rim he can get a foul as well. This is why everyone is terrified of defending him, he can get a foul from any spot on the court, and many times it's by creating contact. People are afraid to play defense on him.

This issue of resting players really is a tricky one. I understand the league's concerns. But the Bulls being told, "Whoa, whoa, whoa. You can't be resting a player like Justin Holiday when he can play" ... I honestly think if you're a rebuilding team, it is not a crazy/tanky decision to rest Justin Holiday to get a better look at young guys.

The idea of telling someone when you can rest sounds completely insane to me. If they tried to implement something like this in European football for example, they would get laughed off and told to **** off. You can't add an insane amount of games and tell people who to play (well apparently you can, but it's nonsensical).

Sure was. Could have been so much worse though. A few inches further under and that could have been in neck/spinal damage zone. Hopefully just a concussion. :-?

Tyronne Lue taking break from coaching. lol

When will Lebron man up and just take the head coach title in name and practice? Instead of using his coaches as scapegoats.

And with multi year guaranteed contracts at stake, why put mileage on a depreciating asset in pointless games?

Just wanted somewhere to say......Carmelo Anthony is a delusional dumbass, doesn't have all of his faculties.

Just retire if you aren't going to even try to understand what it means to be a team and win in this league.

Yeah. Not convinced he’s an elite coach but he got screwed in Memphis. He’s from the Riley tree which is how the Knicks have been successful (Pat and JVG) and instilling defense is probably the most important thing in a young team. Get them playing hard and playing defense they may be ok when they get cap room in a couple years as players seem to like Fizdale. Never seen so many guys speak out on a firing as his.

Mark Jackson working for Dolan in the circus of the NY media would have been very interesting though for those who like to watch the world burn...

I’m now hoping he now gets the job in Toronto if Casey gets fired...would be amazing entertainment.
