No Playoffs+No Lottery Pick+No Cap Space=No Hope for Future
This team has nothing to be hopeful right now. SVG isn't even playing the young guys like Luke Kenard to try to develop them. How he still has a job at this point is beyond me.
This is the most discouraging time to be a Pistons fan in my lifetime because there is no hope for anything given what we're seeing and our lack of flexibility for anything to change. Even after overpaying for players like CV, Ben Gordon, and Josh Smith there was never this much discouraging lack of future because we always had a pick or FA cap space money or something to look forward to but now there is just nothing.

I suppose that is the one thing we as fans have something to look forward to. I wouldn't mind if tomorrow Tim Hardaway was named the interim coach for the remainder of the season.

I'm starting to get aboard the trade everybody train. I dont want another season of this chase 8 seed crap. Were going to be chasing 8 seeds for the next 5 years if we dont blow it up.

Gores needs to get some balls and fire him. The Van Gundy era is over. Losing the draft pick hurts, but this team has enough talent to make the playoffs. Van Gundy has lost the team, they don't play for him. Blake was never this bad in LA either. Every morning I wake up hoping he's been fires and Gores does nothing.

Just go full Hinkie. Trade everyone for picks and 2nd rounders.

I'm looking forward to Chauncey taking over. All previous will be forgiven if that happens.

Tom Gores' Securus faced a class action lawsuit in 2024. The company engaged in a "quid pro quo kickback scheme" with county jails in Michigan which banned in-person visits in order to maximize revenue from voice and video calls.

This precisely. We have a lot of talent. It's pretty simple. SVG has lost the team and I don't blame them. He needs to get fired asap

really think you guys are overreacting. If we keep losing we might be in play for that top 4 pick. this team is underperforming because we haven't had time to get their game right. we traded two-staters, and two more people who would play starter minutes are injured, plus you added two additional people that are new to the system. that's 4 people in a 9 man rotation, and the only starter from the beginning of the season that's on the floor right now is Drummond, it called growing pains. the offseason still has hope, just have a seat and be patient.

Almost no chance for a top 4 pick. We've already got 29 wins and these teams will all finish with less than 30 wins.

Our absolute floor is the 10th worst team which leaves us with a 4% chance (AT BEST of getting a top 3 draft pick). Hoping for the best case of a 1 in 25 thing to happen is just a sad sad way to end your season. Pick should have had top 10 protection this year because if we weren't making the playoffs we clearly overpaid for Blake.

On the flip side 14-4 is the realistic number of wins needed to make the playoffs, but even that might not be good enough we might have to finish 15-3 to make the playoffs. The Bucks are currently the 8th seed 5 full games ahead of us.

anything is possible if Cleveland can win 4 lotteries in about 10 years. we literally tried winning the right way by trading for a star and never tanking, we deserve to be lucky once.

Possible sure. Likely no.
This isn’t a rational way of looking at lottery bounces. Our lack of recent luck means nothing. Our odds will be long.
And yeah, this is as hopeless as I’ve felt.

Sounds kinda Homebush, but Trey Burke is killing it in N.Y. Bring him in, ship RJ out for a wing or guard.

SVg put us in a position where tanking is the only way to actually change the team, this year or next year.
Hinkie could be the right move.
I'd still prefer Chauncey personally though. I want to feel like this is the Detroit Pistons again.

You need 2-way wings, 2-way shooting bigs, and you can't allow low iq players on the court. Assist/turnover ratio is crucial. Shooting point guards are icing on the cake IF they are plus defenders.

Re: No Playoffs+No Lottery Pick+No Cap Space=No Hope for Future
I disagree that we have a lot of talent. Or rather we have talent that would be nice pieces in different places but there's no way we can have everyone all play their best together. Drummond is a stud in the paint and became an adept face-up passer, griffin while older tends to occupy the middle and while reggie's worked well with drummond in the past he has an injury that might hamper him and his jumper was already shaky. We miss Tobias' spacing because point blank we probably have 2 other reliable AND respected 3 point shooters on the team and only now are teams starting to respect bullock. There's not just one quick fix even if Pop showed up tomorrow.
I came here to do two things: get lost and slice **** up & I'm all out of directions.

Hindsight is 20/20 but was lotto protection a showstopper on the trade?
The Van Gundy brothers always talk about a fair shot. Stan got his. He screwed it up. He’ll finally have to take responsibility. He was done before the trade, and while the roster might work next year, he didn’t make it work this year.

How at risk are the Pistons from leaving? Terrible attendance at a new arena, no chance Detroit tax payers would back a standalone basketball venue any time soon. No hope for next 4-5 years means **** crowds and no excitement around the team - Gores on paper lost 60M+ last season and will surely lose more this season.
