The more I watch this, the more I think it was a mistake not making the team option on Mario. Dude is still too young and developing to give up on.

Not sure where this came from.

But then again, Manu entered the league at around 25 years old.

Manu was a late bloomer period. He was just another dude playing hoops in Argentina at 17, his peers did not see him as something special as a player.

Im not bashing Manu, lol. Just saying that Manu entered the league pretty late, and Mario (now) is still like 3 years younger compared to Manu when he entered the league so a lot can happen. But being realistic, the odds of having another late bloomer like Manu is probably one in a million or something.

You don't even need to watch it to know it was a mistake.

he barely looked like an NBA player last year. as was mentioned, very few people at all called the decision bad when it was made in the off season.

anyone who based the decision on his performance last year clearly forgot he actually had a good showing as a rookie.

it was obvious that something was wrong with him last year, he didn't have the bounce or wasn't trying to make chasedown blocks, like he did during his rookie year. Now he is back to doing some of those.

I for one was pissed!!

Only saving grace was that it was per agent request. Otherwise this would have been the worst decision WeHam made in their tenure. Still a blemish as of now.... that hopefully they can rectify!

i truly believe the FO made the decision based on Vogel's input, which says a lot about him. He seems to only play him when forced.

I'm going to have to believe that it has to do with a personal request as this was happening during a "season of evaluation".... and they decline his option at the end of October.... the month that he only played 13 mpg.... but was shooting 50% from the field and 63% from the 3... in a small sample size of 7 games. The part that still perplexes me is that in november he took a sudden nose dive and was given the yoyo treatment and only 7 mpg. Then something happened and he rebounded amazingly from december on. :-/

Orlando Magic 2017-18 Third Quarter MVP: Mario Hezonja

It is hard to argue against this. Over the last ~20 games, has Orlando had a more consistent presence ?

Hezonja is getting offer from Kings. It's a done deal. Croatian media already broke a story today.
Vlade was big fan of Mario from gates, Mario is buddy with Bogdan.

It's just matter of time when he becomes regular starter of " Magic exes" - Dipo-Mario-Tobias-Sabonis-Dedmon. That 5 would probably smash current starters by 30

if there was a kernel of truth to this (that the offer is known, not just guessed), Sacramento would be getting a very large fine. As of right now, Mario is under contract with Orlando, so Sacramento cannot even talk publicly about giving him an offer.

and Sabonis was never a "Magic"

like it would be first under a table deal in nba... just like how Nike somehow knew where LEbron is going in April of 2014 so they bought land in Clevland where they later posted all " Hold on ,i'm going home" advertisements ;)

pretty much every buyout player knows where he will sign before he leaves.

you just saw Magic Johnson get a huge fine for talking about Giannis. And Nike could know and say what they want, they arent another NBA team

Lol, that's just a speculation about Kings.

I've been going through teams that have cap space and need a guy like Mario and guess what, Pelicans intrigued me the most. They'll most likely compete for Mario. Same goes for Kings and probably few more teams.

Say what you want about the Magic organization (if your only reference are the RealGM boards, they've never done anything right) but the Kings are absolutely a dismal environment for young talent...Pelicans are interesting, Bulls too...pretty much anybody in the league with $6m would have to consider such a versatile young guy if they thought his recent success is not a fluke. I for one, think his floor is now solid 6th man and his ceiling is much much higher in the right environment. I'm not conceding until he's gone, but him staying for $5m doesn't add up.

Even teams without cap space can still offer him 8.8mill

It suck, now he’s just a guy on our team helping to derail the tank while being very unlikely to return next year
