Finally have 1. a leader on the team. 2. a go to scorer. Not just someone that can be the top scorer, but a go to guy. - - - We need another guy to go to from the outside and we will be looking somewhat pimp. plus some bench help.

Teams for sure short term better. All SVG trades are short term wins though. Good organizations have long term visions with teams. Were 70% of the cap invested for the next 5 years so its a must that Blake stays healthy and plays at this level for us to have a chance at ever getting off the treadmill now that we wont be in reach of top 10 draft picks.

I've spent alot of time listening to pods and reading articles on this trade. Its really going to take till about year 3 of Blake to see if this was a good move. Many in the nba feared Blakes contract and injury history so his value wasnt all that high. Nobody feels like at this point in his career he isnt still good WHEN hes healthy.

Things im looking at for this trade to really consider it a win.

1.Do we make the playoffs this season? We have a easy schedule the rest of the way. We gave up a chance at a potential future all star player who we could control for 10years in a draft with a strong top 10 this season to make this move.

2.Do we actually make the 2nd round of the playoffs in years 1-3 of Blake? I'm not interested in 1st round playoff losses year and year out. If were not in the position to actually win a playoff series ever the arena will still be empty.

3.Can Blake stay healthy? He hasnt stayed healthy the past 3 years judging him after 4 games is VERY short sighted.

I'll always be in the build through the draft side of things in the nba. Getting a franchise player or two in the draft on low salaries and then trading for a guy like Blake is the the best way to build a team. I look at the trade more then just "winning short term" I think on how it maxes out are cap on a vet and keeps us from having chances at those young franchise changers in the draft.

All that said its been alot of fun watching Blake over the past 4 games. In his current form hes a top 15-20 player ITL. Hes really motivated Drummond to play well. If Blake can be the diff in turning Drummond into a true top 10-15 player then even if Blake isnt much in years 4-5 it will be a win. If he can stay healthy and lead us into the 2nd round of the playoffs this season it will be worth not having a chance at a young all star in the draft.

TLDR-I love watching the Blake pistons today but still fear what we look like a couple season down the road!

We are a better team with Blake though. We lost 8 straight before he got here. Of course there will be an adjustment period, but I think in the long run we’ll be a better team once we clean house within the org.

Yeah, blake isn't the problem on the court. You can bash his contract, but our on court problems are about team defense and the lack of starting quality perimeter players. Blake's got decent range for a PF, but it's just brutal to pair him and Dre with a PG who can't shoot. Teams are just loading up on him. He's a willing passer, but that only gets you so far if the spacing isn't there.

Exactly. They always show the “analysis” that Blake Draws 3 defenders. Part of it is because he’s a good player. The other part is someone is free to roam and leave 26% 3pt shooter Ish
