I'll miss Sherman. Not as much Bennett or Graham. If I had to watch Bennett jump offside one more time I think my head would explode. Graham just never panned out. When we finally started figuring out how to better utilize him, our team started breaking down. Avril was a class act. Wish him only the best. Kam was great, though that dumb holdout cost us early that season. I love Earl. Maybe we extend him and get passed that Dallas thing. He's a HOFer with some good years left.

End of an era.

Man, the Eagles are looking tough. The Chargers will have a battle on their hands in the Super Bowl next year.

If they finally avoid bad luck and have some serious good luck and somehow get to the Super Bowl.

You'll understand that I saw that move coming as sure as August heat. Dude has a bag of nothing and we needed the cap space.

Adios.

Kam will be back. Avril will likely be released. Age 32 & doubtful he can play. With Bennett, Sherm & Avril gone, it clears a lot of cap room for this year. The team is projected to have like 100 million in cap space next year. Assuming they don't extend Earl right away. The plan is to get younger on defense. Build around Wilson going forward.

Mike Silver reported this purge back in late December, and he's also said that he doesnt think Kam plays this year, and has an outside shot at not playing again.

Not that it matters at this point. It makes more sense for the Seahawks to cut bait on everyone with a big name, and that includes Earl Thomas. If they do retain Chancellor, I think it will be because he's healthy enough to play now, and then he gets an 7 game audition to prove his health, so they can deal him.

Yea looks like Seattle has accepted that they won't be able to compete with the Rams for the next few years and are just going to rebuild :D

I wont say for sure yet, but if the Niners draft well enough to my liking and make a good FA move or two, coupled with Foster not being dramatically suspended.. I may take whatever odds they have at winning the division. That's strictly a betting move, though. Rams are a good team and you know I believed in them early, but they are getting the same bump the Raiders got last year and other teams who had a lot of good fortune, that its a given that it will happen again.. I'm not so sure. OL stayed healthy, Gurley stayed healthy.. I'm likely taking the under on the rams this year. Depends what Vegas says tho

Jarvis Landry quickly signs his franchise tender. Because everyone, including the Dolphins, knows he's not worth anywhere near that amount. Not that he had a ton of value before this, but now that he's locked into 16m this year, he has the leverage in negotiations. Fins will get a day 3 pick for him IMO, because this is a guy who turned down 13m/year (16m gtd) because he wanted a deal like Davante Adams (4-58, 20m gtd).

With Sammy Watkins & Allen Robinson out there, teams can go after one of those guys without giving up a pick. And a step below that level are guys like Pryor, M. Lee, Moncrief, Richardson, or Mike Wallace. Bargain bin has John Brown and Jordan Matthews..

Maybe I'm too down on Landry but I just cant see this working out for the Fins. I think they hoped to have some sort of deal worked out before the tender was signed. Since they didn't, it could be all downhill from here. They obviously cant afford him at 16m a year, unless they make some serious cuts, and Landry can now negotiate from the position that he's already guaranteed 16m. Yikes.

The defense should get better, and Goff should improve, but yes the OL is scary. Gurley (knock on wood) hasn't had an issue staying healthy in the NFL thus far, but the OL was just lucky. I was hoping to shore up all the holes and draft some OL early for depth and for the future - doesn't seem likely now but we'll see what FA holds.

The NFC West is a difficult call next year. It wouldn't surprise me to see the Rams plateau, or fall back just a bit next year, see the 49ers take a step forward, the Cards fall back a bit, and the Seahawks...still too up in the air at the moment. This is a division that could beat itself up playing each other. I think out of division play/schedule could be pretty significant in how things turn out. We'll see.

They won't cut or trade Kam. Too much dead money. He still plans on playing.

I know you like to play up our demise. But, you don't rebuild when you have a franchise QB. Also keep in mind, this team still won 9 games even with a massive amount of injuries to key guys. We may not be playing for the Super Bowl next year, but we'll be back a lot sooner than you think!

Well they couldn't before his guarantee date - passing a physical now was an impossibility. But if I'm not mistaken (I might be here) someone who's traded midseason only has a pro-rated part of their salary assigned to dead cap, and it would only affect base salary (not signing bonus or roster bonus). So it would be only roughly 8.4m in dead cap if they dealt him this season. If they dealt him next season or next offseason, the dead money is negligible, so it might be another year before they go that route.

But first they have to see if he gets cleared to play. Mike Silver has nailed this so far and tends to be pretty accurate when he gets this stubborn, so we'll see. I really hope Kam continues to play, I love those hard-hitting throwback safeties.

They better find a good pass rusher in the draft, but with peters and talib the rushers will have a little more time I guess

(I know talib is on the decline and expensive, but I’m a fan)

Thought it was a bit obvious with my smiley face but I was joking. Wilson and Wagner means they will be pretty good. Schotty IMO wasnt a great hire - I remember him all too well - but then Wilson is better than what he had to work with . Trying to remove all bias, i think the Rams are too talented for me to pick Seattle to win the West. But I will probably have them in the playoffs, and as we saw last year, anything can happen.
