My other target would be Thon Maker.
I think he’s be ideal as a placeholder until KP returns and the hope then could be they grow together. I don’t know how this all happens but Tim, Lee, Lance, (and in my opinion) Burke and Dotson are all expendable if we are truly rebuilding. I would include Kanter but chances are he opts in and we make a decision on him come next trade deadline.

On the cheap free agent front I’d look at Pat McCaw or David Nwaba. Especially if we move Lee and/or Tim.

Draft Miles Bridges and Isaac Bonga.

Resign Kyle if it’s reasonable and I think it will be.
Resign Troy Williams.

Sign Christian Wood and Xavier Mumford to two way deals.

Trade Noah and Dot for Chandler Parsons and a future second round pick.

Sign a babysitter OG pg in the Jack mold just to tick us off, somebody like CJ Watson off the scrap heap.

Enes/Thon/Kyle
Parsons/Wood/Lance (nobody really wants him)
Bridges/TWill/Bonga (let him stew cross seas for a year)
Mudiay/Monk/McCaw
Frank/CJ/Mumford

Won’t win much but we’re young, athletic, long (cheap) and exciting while we wait for KP.

The tank squad of Mudiay and Monk with Thon up front would be EPIC
Monk, if he is lucky, will blossom into Jamal Crawford. Right now, he looks more like Austin Rivers with worse defense...

Ahh. This guy gets it.
I think eventually Monk just like our two young guards finds his way.

I know we have a glut of Pg's now, but Fred Van Fleet will be a FA, and is really solid for the raps

Hey dummy, I wasn’t implying that we’d be a complete team after just these two trades.

You can’t ignore 2019 free agency and the types of stars that both Simmons and Mitchell would attract.

Kanter, Lance, Jack, Baker, Beasley, O’Quinn, Mudiay, and Noah (buyout or stretch) will all be gone after either this season or next season. With the savings between Simmons and KP’s salaries (KP is a RFA) we’d have even more $ to offer. Add dumping CLee for an expiring and a pick and we’re sitting pretty.

2019 class has Kawhi, JButler, Kyrie, Jokic, Klay, Kemba, Whiteside, MGasol, Horford, Middleton, HBarnes, etc... plus I’m sure Durant and Lebron will opt out as usual too. If this hypothetical scenario even had the slightest chance of happening (which it obviously doesn’t), I’m sure we’d be able to land at least 1 of those guys, and other smaller tier players... like a Terry Rozier for example (prob slightly overpay to discourage Boston from matching ala THJr/ATL).

Terry Rozier
Donovan Mitchell
Joe Ingles
Ben Simmons
Nikola Jokic

Is more in line with what I was thinking for this plan.

They said that about many players before they went on to win championships somewhere. Billups, Chandler, Iguodala. That brings me to Tayshaun Prince who all of a sudden reminds me very much of Frank Ntilikina.

Huh? Rozier ain’t a max. Ingles ain’t a max. Jokic is a max in 2019, Simmons in 2020, and Mitchell not til 2022.

I'm sure Rozier will command insane money. He should be our target no matter what.

Rozier, Frank backcourt sounds real nice to me.

Let Kanter walk and Trade Lee for a pick 18-32. Offer julius randle like 18 million day 1 of free agency. See if you can force the Lakers to made a decision on him quickly since they've got bigger plans.
I'm apart of a Knicks podcast! You Should check it out!

I've made the Prince/Frank comp before.

Something is seriously up with Noel. I wouldn't buy.

Julius Randle

Post#1679 » by GettinitDone » Thu Mar 15, 2018 9:06 am

He's improving, perfect inside-outside combo with KP? Poor man's Charles Barkley, but could be an All Star one day. Young, hungry player, and potentially cheap, and good player to build around. Should we target him in FA?
