Brewer can shoot wide open jump shots and cut when he's ignored. He's a legit NBA wing, this is what it looks like. Putting too much into his percentages in LA, where he was rotting away behind younger players during the tail end of his athletic prime is a mistake.

He shot below 30% from 3 while in Houston, he's been a terrible jump shooter his whole career. In 2015/16 his shooting percentage on wide open threes was 28.3%. In 2014/15 it was 28.1%. And it's not like he is a good midrange shooter either - 33.3% for his career on shots from 16-23 feet. He shot 27% on wide open midrange shots in 2015 and 2016.

By no means is a knock down guy, but he's going to be enjoying some of if not the best consistent looks he's ever had in his career. He's a big upgrade to the guys that have been trying to fill in at that position, who clearly weren't performing with NBA level consistency.

I didn't watch a ton of Houston last year but I feel pretty confident in presuming that Brewer was getting plenty of good looks in that offense with Harden distributing as well. He is what he is.

Well, he can hit his free throws consistently, he can play some D, and can knockdown some shots here and there.

Did we have that on our roster on SG position ?

Please search for when our starting SG spot scored 17 points in a game. (prolly Abrines, but I wont include him cause its obvious what Brewer's role is, Dre lite ...)

Roberson WCF game vs GSW 2016 ?

One, if not two of those guys were almost always on the court. Not the case anymore. Brewer is an NBA level player, who is only beginning to build rapport with the starters. That unit is going to take off. He can consistently make the open jumpers given to the 5th starter as well as get to the rim and in transition. Ferguson/huestis shouldn't see playoff minutes.

mostly agree, though I don't know I'd call his jumper consistent. But he's way savvier with his offensive positioning and cuts than the other wing options, and he's always flying out in transition and stretching the defense, which meshes great with Russ's pace.

and I really like his defensive hustle and overall energy in the starting lineup - it brings a boost of fresh air there and is a good fit for team chemistry. If he continues to gel with the starters and build off this performance I'm cautiously optimistic about the results we might see - the version of Brewer we saw tonight could go a long way towards easing the pain of losing Roberson.

I’d be thrilled with 75% of the Corey Brewer we saw tonight for the rest of the season.

ha, yeah good point

Roberson WCF game vs GSW 2016 ?

Roberson scored 18 in game 1 against Houston in the playoffs last year. If we are only counting regular season then 2/24/17 against the Lakers with 19 points.

The most important thing Brewer brings to the starting lineup is the same thing Robes did. It is the energy and constant movement on both sides of the ball. We have enough people that stand around on offense. 2 of Melo, PG and Russ will also just be standing around. Having a player with constant movement will help so much on that end. He isn't Robes but he is the closest we could have gotten on the buyout market.

How do we know he's not a professional clown and Justin was aware of this fact?

I see the 10,000 plus poster club are teaming together to taunt other posters as if they're the know all be all to Thunder basketball.

I've heard it all, Patterson should start (he scored 0 points last night), Heustis should remain the starter (consistently scores 0 points) and rarely if ever shuts down elite SGs.

Any one not wearing the Roberson/Heustis glasses saw that last night was a major upgrade to the SG spot. You have to really dig deep in research to find some offense from Thunder SGs, because we're accustomed to the 2-6 point average going back to the Sefalosha days.

Last night was a technique that worked, and the tactic should be applied to the next game to see if it works again.

Wait now we've gone to Brewer over Roberson.

It was the Suns. And its Brewer. He sucks, but probably less than Ferguson.

Oh and Ferguson started against the Lakers and had 24 points a few months ago.

No one is denying Brewer brought some good things to the game last night. They are questioning if last nights performance should give us a basis to ignore a decade’s worth of data that says otherwise. I don’t think we need to be in the 10,000 poster club to come to that conclusion.
