We've seen a lot more of Morris at the 5 lately. Brooks usually brings in Mahinmi late in the 1st quarter and tries to assess how the matchups work. If Mahinmi is getting the job done, we stay with a big lineup. If he's not, Morris comes in for Mahinmi in the 2nd quarter and the team stays small as long as it works out. It has been working out lately.
Interestingly, one of the losers in the arrangement is Gortat. Morris moves to 5 early in the 2nd and 4th quarter because Mahinmi is a bad matchup, and it works so well that Brooks never brings Gortat back in to finish the half, even if he played just fine in the 1st and 3rd quarters.
Against New Orleans, Gortat had 6 points, 8 boards, 2 assists and 2 blocks in just 16 minutes of play. He was playing really well but only got 16 minutes. I'm not saying Brooks is doing the wrong thing, but it does suck for Gortat.
