The Ray Allen "Bitterness" Tour
So Ray Allen is launching an autobiography in a couple of weeks.
From the tidbits that have come out already, it should provide us with plenty of stabby material to discuss and add into NBA lore.
Bleacher Report is saying that the book claims that Rondo believes he carried the 2008 Celtics to the championship, and said as much to the entire team.
He also reckons that Rondo shut him out and refused to pass the ball to him because of personal beef.
He also claims (this one's juicy) that Doc Rivers vetoed a trade of Rondo for CP3 in 2011, because of his personal relationship with Monty Williams (then Pel's coach) - which would have likely extended their championship window by another year or two against the Lebron led Heat.
Thoughts?

If the Celtics got Chris Paul in 2011 they would've likely beat the Heat in 2012 and maybe even in 2013.

And we could have possibly seen a KG-Duncan Finals toward the tail end of their careers.
That would have been cool (not to mention Parker v. Paul and Manu v. Ray Allen and young Kawhi v. Pierce).

If the CP3 bit is true, that’s huge.

Doc: we shouldn't trade for cp3
Danny: huh?
Doc: monty is my friends and rondo is naughty
Danny: hush your mouth. Just for suggesting that I'm trading you too
Doc: ubuntu?

Re: The Ray Allen "Bitterness" Tour
Doc Rivers was ony the coach in Boston, Ainge was the GM.. why would Ainge not trade for CP3 because of Doc's personal tensions?

Re: The Ray Allen "Bitterness" Tour
Lets look at the facts.
1. Ray Allen was extremely upset in 2012 when he lost his starting spot to Avery Bradley. He blamed Rondo for "freezing him out" of the offense.
2. Ray Allen wanted assurance that Boston would start him during his 2012 contract negotiations but apparently Boston refused to do that.
3. Ray was upset when they signed Jason Terry during his contract negotiations as he thought Boston was already preparing to replace him.
4. Ray Allen then publicly accused Boston of low balling him in 2012 with a contract offer; however, proceeded to sign for even less in Miami to play with the Heat.
5. Ray Allen never discussed his decision to leave with KG or PP before it became public and ended all relationship with them following his exit to Miami.
Bottom line is Ray got overly sensitive that Boston didn't see him as valuable member of the "Big 3". He wanted some type of commit (large contract, guarantee starting position, etc) from the franchise that they wouldn't give him. Everything else is just finger pointing on his part to justify joining Boston's biggest competition at the time.

I still believe that the Celtics organization didn't respect Ray Allen and did him wrong but in the end the dude is a bit of a drama queen.

I don't think Ray needs to justify anything. People(read also Celtic fans) act like he was a career Celtic when he left Boston for Miami. At that point he was a 16 yr vet who had spent 5 of those years in Celtic green. This idea that he should have felt all of this loyalty and everything else to them as an organization or to their fans is such absolute horse****. He doesn't need to justify anything. I'm not sure he feels that way either. I think he just felt like writing a book and putting some stuff in it that has bothered him over the years both relating to the Celtic drama and other things.

If that is true then that would mean the ownership of the celtics were not doing their jobs. No way doc should have been able to turn down a cp3 for weak rondo trade. Rondo is not in the same stratosphere as CP3

I agree that Ray didn't need to justify leaving. I would have been perfectly find for him saying "I have decided to sign in Miami as I believe that is the best decision for me and my family". This isn't what Ray did. He was very public about leaving because he felt Boston didn't value him and "wronged" him. Ray was the person who made up all the excuses to justify his decision

What you are calling excuses to justify his decision may have just been how he honestly felt at the time though. Some guys are more emotional than others and maybe he felt semi betrayed.

Re: The Ray Allen "Bitterness" Tour
That whole 2008 title group is more drama than LeBron/Cavs, KD/Westbrook and Shaq/Kobe combined. They won one championship 10 years ago and still are producing drama on an almost weekly basis today about all their internal conflicts and emotions.
They should all do a multi-location reality series “The Real Celtics of 2008”, or maybe “Keeping up w/ the 2008 Celtics” and follow Ray, Doc, PP, KG, Big Baby, Rondo, etc. around and watch them react to various situations, people, each other...heck, even Austin can be on it.
Honestly that would be a pretty interesting show. Lol! All of them are already on Area 21 all the time always, so what’s one more show.

Re: The Ray Allen "Bitterness" Tour
Ray and Rondo had a beef - there is no doubt about that. Rondo has a history of being a difficult person to deal with. Also, C's were in the rumor mill for quite some time regarding CP3. I'd be really pissed if the CP3 thing were true. I doubt it because honestly it didn't seem Rondo was that well liked in the C's organization. He had history of being a "problem" person and it came up a lot while there were discussions to extend his contract. Didn't seem the organization felt he was THE guy to sign (similar fashion to IT).
I'm really shocked at how many people outside of Boston still think Rondo is an effective player - he's now what around 5 teams in 5 seasons? That means you aren't wanted. You find out after you get the baggage.

If any of you believe that Doc story you're crazy.
Danny Ainge would trade his grandmother to make this team better. If you think he's gonna say agree w. Doc because Doc loves his friend? You are tripppppping.
The guys nickname is Trader Danny. but we're not gonna trade a guy we all hate for the "point god" cause we like Monty Williams?
Lol gtfohhhh. That is the craziest nonsense of today.

The only place Rondo was really bad was Dallas. That was his fault.
He balled out in Sac. If anything George Karl held that team back. 12-12-6 w/ 36% from 3. Rondo was good that year.
He was okay in Chicago. Obviously that team has issues. Every time it was Rondo & Butler they were fine. Wade shoulda been the 6th man & run the 2nd unit like he does now. Once he got hurt that team took off. Hoiberg was still tryna make MCW a thing. Nuff said.
& He's been fine in NO. Not great but solid. Idc what any stat says. A guy who run your offense can hit your 2 bigs with any pass on the money is beneficial. You can see when he's not in during crunch time how sloppy it gets. Not saying he's an all star but he's been fine.
