Maybe we can use Lamb to move up in the draft a couple slots.

Cho definitely should’ve been fired 2 years ago. He might’ve sabotaged the team to be in this position on purpose for when he exited lol.
He sure left his luggage. And it's pretty damn heavy. I've hated his ass the whole time.
Me and you both. We’ve been talking about his pu pu platters since 2015.

No team is going to do that. There’s legit talent all the way up to #12. I doubt a team will miss out on the opportunity to draft a quintessential two-way player like Mikal Bridges to fall in the draft and take Miles Bridges.

Lamb is one of the few guys on the roster I'd hold onto just b/c we should value him more (and rightly so) than other teams probably do. But I wouldn't be surprised if he gets traded with the pick for somebody like Ilyasova for some stupid reason.

Re: Fake Trade Thread
Lamb has consistently gave us double figure scoring in limited minutes through the season. His consistency is in his playing time. The more playing time he get the more he produce and it’s been that way for a while, not just this season. If we would’ve started Lamb for this entire season he likely would’ve averaged around 18 ppg and could’ve netted us a good trade for this so called “#2 option that should be anybody but who we already have even if it’s a lesser player” but we didn’t.

Re: Fake Trade Thread
It’s going to be interesting to see what we do this offseason. Will we make lateral to backwards moves? Will we give into trading Kemba to blow the team up? Will we relatively keep the team the same? Will we make surprisingly great moves that enhance our ability to win? We shall see.

Re: Fake Trade Thread
If Lamb is worth no more than a late first or early second, then his value is lower than I thought. I'd assume Cody would be similar, though I suspect he could net a mid-first-round pick given his injury history (should be higher). All teams want to draft the next use-plus player, especially if they have a two-way skill. Why not just trade for one in Lamb or Zeller?
I'm just perplexed by this year's team makeup. We debated structure before in another thread, and I think it merits sticking in here. Batum is NOT a shooting guard. Let's please move on from that horrible experiment, okay? So, if we assume a new coaching staff is smart enough to understand fundamental basketball and moves Batum to his real position at the three, then the real need is a 2 guard and a legit backup point.
Let's dream a little and say the Hornets draft, oh, I don't know, Mikal Bridges and trade Lamb or Zeller for a pick in the late teens. Gary Trent, Jr. would be a nice get in that area. I think Trae Young may drop, too, because I don't trust him as a lottery pick.
Considering the structural fix, the addition of the lottery pick and cap relief with the departure of Lamb, Zeller or Frank (a 2019 first round pick, plus a 2018 second?), what under-appreciated, under-utilized backup point guard would you pursue either via trade or free agency?

Man I hope we can land Mikal Bridges.
As for you question regarding backup PGs, I really like Tim Frazier or Shabazz Napier. I think Frazier will be the cheaper of the two.

I’d take Brian Roberts back before I’d advocate for us to sign Tim Frazier. Nah I’m lying, Frazier is younger but tomāto tomäto.
I’m 100% behind going after Shabazz Napier but I don’t think we’ll have the resources to get him. Could we use the MLE on him?

Losing Lamb + Cody for cap space? That might be what we're facing.

Re: Fake Trade Thread
Guards that I suspect the Hornets could potentially try to go after in the trade market in the summer:
Gorge Hill - he simply hasn't fit well in Cleveland and has done much better this year in Sac as a bench player.
Matthew Dellavedova - contract isn't great and he hasn't looked himself this year.
Patrick Beverley - but probably only as part of a bigger deal
Brandon Knight - much depends on his recovery and if Phoenix manages to get another PG
Jeremy Lin - but only if he looks much recovered.

My picks:
2020 Draft (3rd pick) - Tyrese Haliburton, Devin Vassell, or Onyeka Okongwu

We had Napier. Thankfully Cho immediately flipped him for YMCA-PJ, adding an integral portion to his pu pu platter.

HA, fair enough. Just my personal preference really. I’d rather have Shabazz between the two, just think...nay...know he’ll cost more than Tim.
Really though, let’s just find a point forward. We’d probably be better off than whatever backup PG we would get.

Re: Fake Trade Thread
And people need to stop advocating for us to trade for Andrew Wiggins. He’s holding the T’Wolves back and is a less impactful player than Harrison Barnes. Minnesota is going to dupe somebody into taking his contract based on raw numbers. I just hope it’s not us.

Smells like the time we signed Ramon Sessions.

Wiggins vs Batum though? Young guy with a bad contract seems more palatable than an old guy with a bad contract.

I'm not high on Wiggins, but I would probably trade Batum for him if we didn't have to give up anything else of value, just on the small chance that he decides he actually wants to reach his potential. I don't feel like we have much to lose in that scenario. We are already wasting a nearly as huge chunk of cap through 2021 on Batum.

Re: Fake Trade Thread
I wouldn’t even trade our 2018 late lottery 1st rounder for Wiggins for two reasons. One being that he’s severely overpaid on a max contract for the next 5 years and the other being that he has zero impact as a player despite decent raw numbers.

I dunno, I've never been impressed with the coaches Wiggins has played under. I'm definitely not impressed with ours either so I think I just made Catch's argument for him, lol.

You don’t like Thibs? I know he’s flawed in his approach to play his starters almost 40 minutes a night but he get the most out of his teams. I’d like to think if they had somebody more worthy to pay a max contract to than Wiggins to that they’d be in conversations with the Warriors and Rockets as championship contenders.
