Time to trade all assets and rebuild...
We won't be winning with any of the crew here now.
Find out what you can trade them for, get some draft picks, sign guys that have some upside that won't cost much. (i.e. mario henzonja has some upside)
We need a point guard, no rj will never be the pg we need.
Maybe we give kennard a chance unless we can scrap our cap hits off the team.
Dre, is a monster boarder, but most teams bigs have their way with him and their stats make you wonder wtf he is doing.
Maybe in 2 years Blake will be close enough to the end of his contract we can trade his expiring deal for some decent talent.
Done, toast, finished, cooked, put a fork in it, the fat lady has sung and vince carter said it... It's over, it's ova.

Quality post.
Comments to rationalize bad contracts -
1) It's less than the MLE
2) He can be traded later
3) It's only __% of the cap
4) The cap is going up
5) It's only __ years
6) He's a good mentor/locker room guy

So, let's hear it. For what? And whos getting traded? I want details not just random suggestions with no answers. Don't just say trade everyone for draft picks. Pretend your Billups and make this team great again

Yeah I don't think teams will be lining up to give up quality picks/prospects for our guys outside of Drummond. It's going to take a lot of salesmanship especially since our vets are overpaid and our young guys aren't progressing...

What assets? Even Drummond doesn't have a great deal of value. The NBA values elite point guards and wings over centers, the free agent market has tons of centers, and the draft has tons of big men.

Re: Time to trade all assets and rebuild...
Honestly our team doesn't have much trade value. The two guys most teams would likely want over everyone else would be Luke (good shooter with potential on cheap rookie deal) and Bullock (elite shooter with solid defense on a bargain deal). Like others have said, even Dre isn't going to have a great trade value. You'll be able to see that this year when DeAndre Jordan gets much less money than a max deal. Tobias Harris probably had/has more trade value than anyone on our team right now considering what NBA teams are looking for and what his contract has value wise and we traded him AND a 1st pick for Blake who likely has less trade value than Harris given his contract.

We traded our best assets (Tobias and our 1st round pick in a loaded draft)

Re: Time to trade all assets and rebuild...
Just get rid of the team... get them off the cap if you can and sign other people. This team doesn't work. Trash trash trash. Kennard is the only one I might keep....everyone else....sell for a pack of depends.

Basically this.
We've got Kennard.
Maybe get a little something something for Dummond but its going to be tough to find a taker for him. Why? Hes got a big contract and theirs quite a few free agent centers this season in his mold. On top of that this draft is going to have a influx of bigs coming. Its being called the best big man draft in over a decade.
We were the market for Blake. His value can only be lower now and people gotta know were desperate if we try to move him.
The play was to stand pat or make a small move at the deadline. We went with the worst play we could of.

Dre has good value... a team like the Celts would love to have his board/mop up skills to compliment their perimeter talent.

The celts have Al Horford. If they want another big for some reason they can go after DAJ,Favors,Nurk,Kanter,Lopez and Cousins without giving up valuable assets. Ainge isnt going to start shipping off assets for no reason.
This is not the year to trade Drummond with the draft being stacked with bigs and tons of free agent bigs. Teams are moving into the smaller direction as well.

Re: Time to trade all assets and rebuild...
As much as he's improved and as talented as he is trading Dre seems silly barring a can't-miss offer. Reggie is a pretty average PG, and to upgrade from him it would take assets we probably don't have.
And of course Blake's contract is going to be really tough to move. Like sfballa said, we had two really good assets and we got rid of them.

Re: Time to trade all assets and rebuild...
The Pistons have needed to rebuild since 2010, they should have started in 2008.
Gores is too stupid to see the big picture and play the long game. And, I really don't think he cares about this team ever competing for anything more than a bottom playoff seed.

The true goal of our trade deadline was to use our draft pick in order to get rid of bad contracts (Boban, Galloway, Leuer)
Instead we gave our pick away, our arguably 1st or 2nd best player, and took on a SHEET ton of more money

Re: Time to trade all assets and rebuild...
There is nothing this team can do that makes any real difference. Ride out the next couple/few years as is then see where the team is at. There is no reason whatsoever to try to rush any moves or trades right now. What do you think teams will offer for Drummond if it's clear the Pistons are just trying to dump him for as much as they can get? I'll tell you what I'd take--draft picks in 2020 and beyond.

Re: Time to trade all assets and rebuild...
Long time Clippers fan here. My apologies guys, and thanks, for the Blake trade. The Clippers woke up and realized that they were never going to contend with BG as the foundation. That, combined with the contract, the injuries and the style of play screamed "trade him to someone who thinks he's a superstar".
After the trade, the Clippers have about the same level of talent overall, which leaves us stuck in the 7th or 8th PO spot. But we now have huge payroll flexibility, draft picks and a decent front office now that Doc is just the coach again.
The lesson here is that decent coaches (SVG, Doc) usually make crappy GMs, especially if they have both roles.

Our best hope that somewhere out there in the NBA world, there's another GM and/or owner as foolish as ours, and that they'll take on Griffin. It's a possibility. Our own are living proof of the existence of such managerial incompetence.

I’d beg Brooklyn to take Blake for Mozgov, Carrol and a future 1st or just Lin and Carrol.

Post of the year. Have been saying this all along. Trade both Blake and Andre for athletic young up and comers this summer. Also need to look to trade RJ he's on an expiring soon enough and we could lose him for nothing. Besides he's basically been injured for the most of 2 seasons. I don't see his knee issues going away.
The longer we delay, the less value they'll have because their salary keeps going up year on year.
