Let's say Pels pick makes it into the lottery and Pels miss the playoffs...

What can that pick (12-14) and Portis or Denzel get us?

Thinking a more established youngish player that can grow with the 3 and our top pick this season. Thinking a breakout candidate ala Oladipo

I don't think it would get us much. Maybe if a team wants to move on from a contract like say Harrison Barnes, but I doubt that the Mavs want to do that.

Or some other player like Dennis Schroder if Atlanta doesn't see him as a future PG for them.

If we draft a center/another big, many mock drafts seem to think we could take wendal carter Jr, at around 6th, if the pelicans pick gets as high as 12-14 I think a move to make would be offering that portis, lopez to minny for andrew wiggins. Report just came out he not happy and it's not going to be easy to unload that deal.
Read on Twitter

So minny just might say yes to that kind of package just to get from under that deal understanding Jimmy deal is approaching. Word is wiggins has not been happy since his boy lavine left, so let's reunite them.

he not the best choice but he imo is best available. Still young and has a pretty high ceiling. His deal is not ideal but we have the money and can deal with it.

Why would we want Wiggins with his contract that is, to my understanding, considered one of the worst in the NBA? What would he bring that a) is worth the contract and b) we don't already have?

There is not going to be much better options for a 3 than Wiggins. This is with the understanding that we will compete next season. Paul George I doubt is a option and wiggins is still a great prospect, he would want to reunite with lavine, and his deal works in our favor in the sense we wouldn't have to give up the world to get him

That option is better than adding another low ceiling player to the roster who could just be eating up minutes at the 12-14 pick.

I'd rather have another low ceiling player than Wiggins and his grotesque contract.

Wiggins is a perfect example of what I fear about signing Lavine to a monster deal. Like it or not, Lavine's up-and-down play may be saving us from a similar fate. That said, I think that Jimmy's style of play makes it harder for a second option to succeed, much less a third.

Dunn, LaVine, and Wiggins did nothing together in Minny so why would we want to repeat that here? I don't think you'll find much support for this trade.

Different system, different conference , if we are going to give lavine a max, might as well compete and wiggins would be best available

We don't have the assets to land a superstar and we about to be in some mediocre spots in the draft. If you want to compete next season using a 12-14 pick to take a flier on a ex #1 draft pick with a very high ceiling who could very well blossom is the way you go. But what happens around here is, we will see wiggins go to another situati9n blossom then we want him, but instead of being able to get him for a mid 1st Rd pick and lopez, we will have to give up the world to get him.

I’d do that trade but no way am I throwing in Pels pick. I’d throw in Denzel though.

Portis and Denzel for Isaac. Isaac next to Lauri. Draft Mikal Bridges and Jontay Porter to replace Portis.

Dunn\Payne
LaVine/Nwaba
Bridges/Chuck Holiday
Lauri/Porter
Isaac/RoLo

We avoid paying Denzel and Portis.

If I want to compete next year I'd rather have the rookie and spend that money on a couple of quality free agents rather than put all my eggs in the LaVine/Wiggins max contracts basket.

Tbh i think that guy has the right idea with wiggins.
But no to wiggins. Even in his good season he was not efficient based on a sub 50% eFg.

Actually id be inclined to trade the higher pick or both for a star. If i could choose right now it would be Giannis to play the 3 but open to other young star players attainable with that package.
Included in that package would be Holiday,Rolo or Bobby, Grant/2nd rounder.

And then add a max FA.

Intriguing choice. Many ppl were high on Issac entering the draft. I would make that deal.

What about LaVine and Pels pick (14) for Kings pick (6-7) and Bogdanovic or Hield?

Sure, if it were possible, but I don't think you can trade a RFA.
