What are everyone’s thoughts on Bam Adebayo this season, and his future?

Sometimes the lowlights and the highlights gloss over important aspects of a player's game. This applies to all rookies.

This is the type of thing that people try to explain about Marcus Smart and everyone trashes on it as being overstated, but when you actually watch it in the flow of the game you can see just how important that type of play is.
That's 2 extra possessions (steal and the offensive rebound), but it's also a big momentum shift more often than not. It's plays like that that can kickstart a run or push you out of a slump.
The most interesting thing about those kind of plays is the fact that there are select guys you see that from very frequently even though they're mostly predicated on hustle. But that shows to me that there is an instinct involved as well. It's not like 99% of the guys aren't out there hustling, but for certain guys that hustle mixed in with a natural ability to put themselves in the right spots results in big plays.

Simmons becomes just the third player in history to have 1000 points, 500 rebounds and 500 assists in their rookie season. Magic and Oscar are the other two.

And now adds another triple double in consecutive games, his eight, to pass Magic Johnson for 2nd most triple doubles all time as a rookie, behind Oscar Robertson.

Ben Simmons tonight: 13/10/12. Once he gets an outside shot he will have the potential to be the best player in the NBA.

And fixes his free throw shooting. 3/8 tonight from the line.

What's funny is that it wasn't a particularly good game for him, though he turned it in on in the 4th and helped pull the Sixers back from the brink. It's clearly a lot easier for him to take over a game against a team like the Knicks that isn't that sharp defensively, but it's still pretty cool that a guy can get a triple double in a pretty blah game for him.
I'm looking forward to him after another year of seasoning, when he gets his angles to the basket down better and learns how to draw fouls every time he gets into the lane. The FT% might not be pretty but he should be making a nice living at the line before long.

Ad 50 blocks and 50 steals and he is the only rookie in NBA history.
It took Westbrook 439 games to notch his 8th triple double.
Simmons....65 games.

But he only has to improve his FT% by 10%.
Simmons is a .573 free-throw shooter.
LeBron shot .674 in the 2016-17 season and .698 in the 2017 playoffs, and .661 in the 2016 playoffs.
I don't think there is any doubt that Simmons will be able to do that.
Actual perimeter shooting whereas, a legit challenge to improve (although his 3-point-shot looks smooth and consistent in training, so maybe its just a confidence challenge).

RIght now I think he will almost certainly improve his shooting numbers and end up a HOF level player. (barring injury)
"Thibs called back and wanted more picks," said Jorge Sedano. "And Pat Riley, literally, I was told, called him a mother-bleeper and hung up the phone."

Yes certainly improve.
Just a matter of by how much.
And if he never improves and retires with averages of 16ppg 8rpg 8apg after 15 years, that should be HOF worthy already.

Why is Big Ben taking shots at Mitchell, though? #whack

Just so we're clear, you're referring to him describing their games, right? He said they're two different types of players, he was obviously implying Mitchell is primarily a scorer (by citing him being such) while he is more of a do everything kind of player (score, assist, rebound). I don't think that's any different then how just about everyone has been describing them in this thread.
Unless you're referring to something else that I haven't seen, took me a moment to come up with what you could be referring to, so perhaps.

Where you get them stats from?
I got, 21/8/12 and 3 steals on %58.8 shooting.
Just 2 rebounds off getting his 3rd triple double in a row.

NBA.com, but I guess I was quicker than the final update, your stats are correct.
