Early on this year we won when the iso ball shots fell. Tonight was the opposite. Russ and George werent great but the effort was there. Adams, Ferguson and brewer were great.

Brewer just shows that Melo isn’t a great fit with Russ. Russ needs players that can run the court and Melo slows down the pace. It’s not that Melo isn’t trying, but he’s admitted that it’s hard to keep up with Russ.

Every win matters. Big to defeat who’s trying to get in. Keep grinding and don’t take your foot off the pedal. Finish this season strong and if they get in, carry the momentum into the postseason.

I was cautiously optimistic when we got Brewer but hoped for the best. I don’t think anyone could have reasonably expected this. He has been a revelation between the steals, defensive hustle, and cutting. Such a pleasant surprise.

I’m also very happy with how Ferg has come along this season. I used to dread when he would come into the game even though I really like his potential. Now he has shown the ability to have a positive impact when he gets minutes. He is starting to understand defense more and his shot is becoming more consistent.

Brewer completely changes the dynamic of this team and it shows the number of wide open, easy looks that the starting shooting guard gets with this team. Brewer isn't even a 2 and is clearly towards the end of his career and has been playing really bad this year yet outside of the 1st game where he was just trying to adjust he is averaging around 15 points per game and it's not going to stop happening. 22 points, 3 assists and 6 steals in this game and he was the main reason they won. I'm not going to bash a man when he's down and I hope Roberson heals up well but this just goes to prove beyond any shadow of a doubt what I've been saying for over 4 years now that he never belonged in that starting lineup and OKC needs a viable two way player in that starting slot at the 2. Heck it looks like Brewer might very be that guy for the next few years. Roberson can now take the role where he belongs coming off the bench playing maybe 12-14 minutes which is all he ever should have been doing in the first place. It's becoming fun to watch this team play again because they're much more efficient now offensively playing 5 against 5 starting every game and their defense hasn't dropped off much since Brewer is doing a pretty good job. This gives them a much better chance in the playoffs...

But man oh man, this is SO MUCH better. :roll:

On a factor basis, the Brewers starters are doing three things really well: Shot making (60.2 eFG% because they are shooting 46 % from 3), keeping people off the line and forcing turnovers while keeping players off the boards. Their opp eFG% would rank last in the league. Their own free throw attempt rate is below league average; so is their own turnover ratio.

We'll see how this works out once they stop making 3s like this. Anthony is shooting 47 %. George 44 % and Brewer 58 %. That will not continue. They really need to do a better job of actually defending guys.

Yes, let's talk about that. I don't have a horse in this race: Ideally, a guy like Huestis should not be on a self-proclaimed contender. Desipte his obvious shortcomings, lineups he's been a part of have worked out really well, across the team.

Now Brewer has played very well. If that continues, one can feel confident about the Playoffs. Odds are tho, at some point the law of averages will probably get him. If he still cuts and gives effort on defense, he will be a contributor.

Brewer should have been playing with Russ his whole career. They really compliment each other well.

corey brewer is is 20-21 from the line and 10-24 from three. unless you believe that donovan and westbrook have imbued corey brewer with shooting prowess he has been unable to find his first 11 seasons in the nba, he's probably going to crash hard barring some miraculous luck.

his shot distribution (.400+ 3Pr) is idiotic given his skillset. it's fun that he's making them-- however, given his career percentages on current distribution you're looking at a 50-52 ts player.

this kinda reminds me of when dion waiters shot 45% from three to start the year once.

I think we can count ourselves lucky if he just continues to defend and run the floor while actually finishing drives to the rim once his shot goes.

Brewer's only taken 2 midrange shots so far in his Thunder career. That's great since he is extremely bad at them. His 3 point percentage will come down but he'll still be a decent offensive player if he keeps running the floor hard and makign good cuts.

nobody else in the starting lineup gets out on the break or brings the consistent energy level like those two, and I think having another guy out there with him who's constantly in motion and hustling all over the court helps Brodie get fired up and focused in a way that none of our other guys can match. Plus Brewer is a good defender with length who understands how to help and is willing to work his ass off on that end of the floor to cover up for Melo and Russ's inconsistent effort, and that unselfishness and hustle is a major boost to the team chemistry.
