Game Thread 03/17: Pacers vs. Wizards

Post#1 » by boomershadow » Sat Mar 17, 2018 1:41 pm

While Sabonis has already been ruled out for Saturday's tie-breaking road matchup with Bradley Beal and the Washington Wizards (39-30), Myles Turner expressed some optimism during Friday's practice, explaining to reporters that the swelling was not as severe as anticipated.

If Turner is unable to go, Al Jefferson — who posted one of his best games of the season with a 20-point, 12-rebound effort on Thursday night — will likely be the starting center for Indiana, matching up against Marcin Gortat of the Wizards.

Coming off of the bench for the Pacers would be Booker, who despite being listed at 6-foot, 8-inches, might be needed to play the role of backup center for the Pacers while Turner and Sabonis recover.

Jefferson certainly gave everything he had in the Raptors game, but we really need for Turner to be healthy and playing. Here's to hoping for that.

EDIT: Just noticed Thad listed as questionable with some illness? Any clue about that?
The only illness I've seen with him is his tendency to think he is a ball handler. I cringe when he does that, and many times it ends with a turnover.

Domas - out, Turner - questionable, Young???

If Turner is out - Pacers are bleeped. Sad. Such important game...

if Booker has to back up Big Al and Thad is limited, Leaf is next man up. Small ball a possibility but is Poythress at 4 better than Ike at 5???

If I recall, our numbers when playing Bojan at the 4 were pretty good.

Where is Ike? Put the kid in let him play. This is the problem with drafting guys that are not NBA ready. Leaf and Ike are not ready to play, they're taking up 2 roster spots now we have 2 centers down and Thad sick, it would be nice to have players who can play.

harder to play rookies when playoff positioning instead of ping pong balls at stake.

If it wasn't for the signing of Booker we'd be screwed right now.

My point was: Collins drafted 19, Jarret Allen 22, Anunoby at 23, Caleb Swanigan 26 and Kuzma at 27. All able and ready to play and playing.

Our defense doesn't look ageless lol.

I'd roll with Young/Bojan/GR3/Vic/CoJo and just try to run them off the floor.

Swanigan was my guy so I can't argue even though I have hopes for Leaf.

Yeah we can all hope Leaf matures and becomes a great shooter, and no one thought the Pacers were gonna be a playoff team. I liked Swanigan a lot, I would like to have taken Collins but I'm betting it was the fact his agent was Aaron Mintz that stopped any thought of that, or traded the pick down for more picks.

I feel like the reserves could have made it a game if they'd been given a bit more time. Or if that BS call on Lance's dribble hadn't happened.

Off topic: I can't PM you back Boom, as it reckons you have pm's disabled.
