Re: Non-threadworthy UFC Events Thread
That was a very fun card!
Godbeer-Sosnovskiy was not a good fight, even for HW standards. Sloppy grappling, and I'm surprised he was able to finish the choke without much of a set up. Godbeer just gave his neck and allowed himself to be mounted.
Kajan-Stevie Ray was a very close fight to call, it could've went either way for me. The third round was the easiest one to call, with Stevie being the clear winner of that particular part of the fight. I think the first two rounds were close, tough one score.
How about two stoppages at 4:59 ? Paul Craig is an a-hole, and I was happy to see him on the verge of leaving the organization after another loss, but to just pull out a win like that, when you were getting pummeled for the whole fight, wow. Amazing comeback. He was a massive underdog too.
The other 4:59 stoppage with Leon Edwards was fine by me, the Darren Till call out fell flat, but I can't blame him for trying to capitalize. Sabotta is a very good fighter, it's a shame the injuries have interrupted his career, but his ground game is top notch, you can see it with how he defends himself in his guard. Survived really well, but impressive showing for Edwards.
Dawodu hype train derailed before it really gathered steam. Exciting finish, same goes for the Danny Roberts fight. Initially thought it was an early stoppage but you cannot fault the ref after a fighter gets knocked down in that position (usually an easy decision to stop the fight). Better that Enkamp didn't take further damage, he was definitely on the verge of being KO'd completely.
I see a lot of people talking about Duquesnoy being a potential contender, but he has ways to go in my opinion. That was another close fight to score, I had Ware winning 29-28 in all honesty.
Co-Main was the clear FON after a frenzy of great finishes. The jabs were executed very nicely, it helped win him that last round which was the deciding one.
Lastly, has age caught up to Werdum? Looked a lot bigger (not a positive either), i'm not sure what he weighed in at, but he is a fighter that is around 235-240, he looked in the 250's, and not in the best shape. SOme slick work in the deep-half guard, his BJJ will always be there as the best of the division, but Volkov picked his opportunities and was just more durable. I liked that he uses his size/reach well. At this rate he'll get the winner of Overeem/Blaydes, and both match-ups are fun. He's only 29, and Blaydes is around 26-27 I Believe, so it would be a fun, fresh matchup between two upcoming HW's

I literally never knew the difference between Volkov and Oleynik. Thought they were the same person until last night when I read that Volkov was on a win streak but I happened to know that Oleynik lost recently. Goes to show how little I care about HW I guess.

If you tap with 1 second left in a fight in a fight you were winning and to a triangle that was just applied, don't know if this is the sport for you, as fun as it would have been to see if I'd have watched the prelims.
Blachowicz took that sledgehammer to the temple for the God's sake and ate it like a tootsie roll. They were making noise he was wobbled, but I didn't even detect it. Pretty enormous discrepancy in durability and ability to fight thru adversity.
I thought Werdum looked the same as he always has. He had gotten thick over the years and he won the title with a similar body type. He was moving well. Flew across with a couple more side kicks again. Really changed levels and jolted into those single leg attempts. Always crafty as f**k to drag you down if he couldn't get on top. Volkov has just gotten savvier on the ground over the years with age and he's long been good. The fighters he lost to in Bellator were good just boring and in 3 round fights. Minakov is a great fighter. May be a titlist in UFC. Ivanov was a big win for Volkov. Not that tough to make sense of him beating Werdum.

That chokehold was on tight, and he may have not known how much time was left. The problem is, it was kind of a quick tap, and even then, if he did know about the clock, I would rather risk getting choked out. IT wasn't like he had a ligament or something being yanked on, there was no real danger of an injury. Just black out and take the win! Hell, he would have still won that round/fight.

Are you the good CanadaGuyRapGo poster? ^^ Please put something in your signature that reflects this. "CBR: It's me, the notable one". Or some other sign. A little gold star, maybe.
Hi love, bye love, I will miss my love.

I have no Idea who any of the people you mistake me for. I rarely see other Canadian/raptor posters here other than the one poster who predicts the fights during the event? Lol.
Whatever the case is, the majority of you seem to be from the midwest so I should easily stand out. Isn’t there like 4 guys from Milwaukee here?

Don't blame you, if I was able to survive 30+ (?) years in Chicago, I would want full street cred for that too!

There are 3 types of people on this board: GSP fanboys, Pettis fanboys, and me. Choose your side quick, or I’ll choose it for you.

That said, oh ****, another loss to TJ would be a huge hit to Cody at this point in his career. He had not put up nearly enough of a resume to just walk off back-to-back losses.

Because WME and Dana suck. We severely miss Joe Silva.

Re: Non-threadworthy UFC Events Thread
I love how the UFC is just straight up vengeful. They were going to make TJ/Mouse. Then Holloway fell out of the UFC 222 main event and they tried to make Garbrandt/Dillashaw. Garbrandt said yes but TJ turned it down and that really pissed the UFC off. Talks of Mouse/TJ really cooled off and Ariel said at the time that it felt like the UFC was punishing TJ for turning down that fight and was now planning on taking the Mouse fight away.
TJ, scumbag that he is, was damned if he did and damned if he didn't in this situation, all due to Max Holloway injuring his ankle. LOL.

Because he tries to hurt his training partners and then is like “good sesh bro!”

To be fare I dont think Mouse ever really wanted that fight. I honestly think Mouse is more then happy chilling at 125 and just picking apart weaker fighters. If he wants to make bigger money he would have to jump up to 135, but it seems like hes choosing the easy fights over the money.
With that said, I have a hard time ever feeling bad for whatever situation TJ finds himself in. The dude truly is a scumbag for the crap he pulls in training and has always just come off as so fake to me. He's always bugged me and has been very unlikable to me.
