Tremaine Edmunds - LB - Hokies
Oakland Raiders GM Reggie McKenzie and Pittsburgh Steelers GM Kevin Colbert and HC Mike Tomlin attended Virginia Tech's pro day workout last week.
Not tough to connect the dots on this one, as both organizations have big linebacking needs and the Hokies boast one of the draft's best LB prospects in Tremaine Edmunds. A possible top-10 pick, Edmunds (6'5/253) has been mocked to the Raiders in a handful of exercises around the industry this month. NFL Media's Lance Zierlein compares him to former Bears star Brian Urlacher.

Jets taking SQBK. Lost Jerick McKinnon in a way too steep bidding war to the niners means they have getting a RB as one of the higher priorities of their team. McCown and Bridgewater are great game managers, so I'm sure everyone in the Jets org is content with letting these QBs prove what they got this season.
This would be even worse to trade all that to move up for a RB?
You think they traded up for random 3rd QB still left on the board? I mean it's a possibility, but it's either Bo Jackson or random 3rd Qb
Josh Allen - QB - Cowboys
The Jets now hold the No. 3 pick in the 2018 NFL Draft after trading with the Colts.
The Jets send two 2018 second round picks (No. 37 and No. 49), a 2019 second-round pick and the No. 6 overall selection to move up a few spots. The timing is the most interesting part of this deal. In the Jared Goff/Carson Wentz draft, those deals were not made until two weeks before the event. We are currently more than a month out. It is clear the Jets are in the market to select a quarterback after missing out on Kirk Cousins, but questions remain. The biggest being: which quarterbacks will still be on the board at No. 3, as other teams will be able to dictate what quarterbacks the Jets can choose from. Regardless, the Jets have tread water at the position for years. They are finally being aggressive, and hopefully it pays off.

James Washington - WR - Cowboys
Updating a previous item, Oklahoma State WR James Washington's second run of the 40-yard during Thursday's pro day came in at 4.49 seconds.
Washington (5'11/213) ran a modest dash of 4.55 seconds on his first pro day run -- a tick slower than his combine run of 4.54 seconds -- but came back to finally break 4.50 seconds with his second sprint. While that's an encouraging time for the wideout, Draft Analyst's Tony Pauline has heard that the receiver largely struggled in his pro day drill work, dropping multiple passes. Washington could potentially sneak into the tail end of Day 1, but there's probably only an outside chance of that. More realistically, he figures to be swept off the board at some point on Day 2 (Rds. 2-3).

Marcell Ateman - WR - Cowboys
Draft Analyst's Tony Pauline passes along that Oklahoma State WR Marcell Ateman was "the big winner" among Cowboys wideouts during Thursday's pro day.
"He ran good routes, caught the ball extremely well and generally looked fluid," Pauline writes, adding that Los Angeles Chargers OC Ken Whisenhunt was impressed with the 6-foot-4, 216-pounder's work. This was a needed performance for Ateman, who largely underwhelmed against expectation in athletic tests at the NFL Scouting Combine. In Indianapolis, Ateman put up a composite athletic score in just the 34th percentile of NFL wideouts.

No one in the sports world actually believes the Jets were in the running for Kirk Cousins. It doesn't just leak that Kirk Cousins wanted to play in Minnesota in the midst of FA. A reporter called it, "The worst kept secret in sports". I doubt everyone BUT the Jets knew of his plan to go to the Vikings.
I still find it hard to wrap my mind around the thinking the Jets traded away the house for a guy that falls into their lap. Whether they go SQBK or QB that's what they just did. With a QB I feel like you NEED that private workout to finalize their grade, which is unlike other positions. (Aldon Smith IIRC did not get that private workout with the 49ers) College demi-gods such as Julio Jones and Ricky Williams were selected by teams trading everything they had and they weren't QBs—how quickly we forget.

UCLA OT Kolton Miller has a workout scheduled with the San Francisco 49ers and an official visit set with the Dallas Cowboys.
Miller (6'8/310) met with the Seattle Seahawks, Carolina Panthers and Atlanta Falcons at his pro day workout last week. Miller stood on his combine numbers -- no surprise since he tested as the class' most-athletic OL -- but looked good in drills. "He’s a long, lean tackle who moved well about the field," Draft Analyst's Tony Pauline wrote. "I was surprised to find out that many teams feel he’ll stay at left tackle in the NFL, as I’ve always viewed Miller as a right tackle prospect. Scouts love his upside and feel he has the agility to stay on the blind side."

I've watched 3 OTs in this years draft and I find it hard to believe I'll come across a better OT than him in this class.

Bingo_AlphaMan wrote:I want Ward more than anyone on that list. Again, based on your list only my preference would be in this order:
1.) Trade back
2.) Ward
3.) Nelson
4.) Davenport
5.) Hernandez
6.) Wynn
7.) Landry
What you have to give Ward is that he has near HOF potential. However, with that kind of natural ability, I would've expected him to play a LOT better this year. A LOT better. That scares me about him as a prospect. Does he really have the drive to be great???

For me it's:
1. Nelson
2. Trade back (Wynn, Landry, Guice, Mike Hughes in that order)
3. Ward
Don't really want Davenport. He's a project. Good teams can't afford projects.
Need to watch Hernandez more to be honest.

Actually Teams do want to know where prospects play and grow up.
Teams look at guys who are from southern California and they want to see are the kids laid back. do they have good work ethic. do they have the same pedigrees as other star quarterbacks in the region.
You probably wouldn't know but we have a great track record of southern California quarterbacks.
Also they want to see is the guy going to be able to throw in the weather.
I talked to one NFL guy today and he said things keep coming up about Josh Allen Being really rich. they want to see if that guy is motivated. he's going to have the security blanket of money. Manziel was rich.
so I also heard that the Jets really like Josh Allen and that's the guy they want to draft. that's the guy they traded up for. I still think Rosen but maybe it's Allen.
If we have Rosen at 9 we need to just draft the guy best player available. we don't know that Jimmy is going to be a hall of famer after one season. and anyway he gets hurt a lot. I like having a good backup. most important position is backup quarterback. a lot of guys were going down so I want to have Rosen and you can flip him for more value then that pick.
We are loaded we can draft a quarterback and develop him.
Kolton Miller I don't know if he was so good why was Josh Rosen always on his ass?
He can do it all like they said great thrower great pocket poise.

Quenton Nelson - G - Fighting Irish
NFL.com Analyst Bucky Brooks projects the Giants to take Notre Dame G Quenton Nelson with the second pick in his updated mock draft.
USC QB Sam Darnold goes first in the mock. Nelson continues to see his draft stock rise, and is being viewed by many as one of -- if not the -- best guard prospect we've seen in quite some time. "New GM Dave Gettleman is all about the "hog mollies" (big guys), so he could bypass a quarterback of the future and a dynamic runner to add a Pro Bowl-caliber interior blocker to the roster," writes Brooks. This would be one of the more controversial picks in the draft, should it happen, but it could pay big dividends.

49ers have dinner with Temple defensive lineman Jullian Taylor

Dealt with numerous injuries throughout his career and that's a reason for lack of playing time.

I just can't imagine how I'd feel if the 49ers traded all that for a RB.

Derrius Guice - RB - Player
ESPN's Michael Rothstein believes it is "pretty clear" the Lions will address running back "early in the draft."
Detroit brought in LeGarrette Blount in free agency, but he is not the answer for their considerable rushing woes. Rothstein thinks the Lions will attempt to find that answer on the first two days of the draft and left open the possibility they take a runner in the first round. Picking No. 20 overall, Detroit could be in position to nab LSU's Derrius Guice if they decide to go that way.

I'm happy Jalen Samuels isn't getting much hype. I think he'd be a great addition to the offense, mostly at RB / FB in the passing game.
