Dude, everyone is aware of this stuff. What should we do about it? As long as PACs exist, as long as corporate lobbying exists, political candidates will continue to be imperfect. Some of them will be corrupt. American capitalism has some serious problems. I don't think many people itt disagree on this.

I voted for Bernie and gave money to his campaign. Then Hillary won the primary, so I did the same. The other option was Trump.

You seem to think that everyone supporting Democrats is white knighting for corporate shills because they are stupid and uninformed or because they actually enjoy these traits. You're wrong about both of those assumptions.

Throwing a fit and sitting out is what got us Trump.

Well to be honest the fact that they are minorities is pretty important...considering that is the base of the party.

And fwiw, I'm not a huge Booker fan either.

Apart from the fact that they're minorities, just look at some of the major policies they're pushing.

Both Booker and Harris are making criminal justice reform a key platform (would be a huge issue for African Americans and Hispanic voters). In addition Booker is also pushing for legalization of marijuana (attractive to younger voters). Both Senators have some progressive positions and some centrist positions. There are legit reaons to vote for both other than skin color. But the fact that they committed the sin of taking corporate donations or meeting with Hillary doesn't pass the ideological purity test which is what annoys me. Whether it's Warren, Sanders, Harris or Booker the big focus should be driving out turnout to get Republicans out of office.

I would add two parts to this, though. Yes, sitting out got Trump, bit it takes the actions of others not to move from traditional policies to also result in others sitting out. It's really as simple as that. This isn't a both sides thing, but it's pretty clear that the Ds are only interested in winning their way or not winning at all, and that's tough. Remember back when some Ds thought running Zuckerburg as a candidate might be a good idea? Seems like decades ago, right?

1. Healthy tax break of about 2000.00 per year for millions of middle class families?
2. Kicked isis butt in 6 months (after messing around for 15 years in the Middle East)?
3. A complete expose on how Hillary stole the primary from Bernie and tried to do the same thing on the general election and used the outgoing weaponized DOJ to attempt to steal the election?
4. Record unemployment levels across the board?
5. Record levels of total jobs available?
6. Record stock market levels?
7. All of the above?

Some things the government does extremely well that we tend to take for granted:
1. Defend us against terrorism, bad actions by foreign powers (like Russia), and invasion by Canadians
2. Enforce property rights, including ip
3. Provide and/or regulate basic public infrastructure - roads/ports/airports, electricity, water, internet
4. Provide unemployment insurance
5. Provide schools, police, fire departments

Some things that the government has to provide, or help provide, that they could do better:
1. Social security
2. Health care
3. Urban planning/zoning/business licensing
4. Prosecution of embezzlement/fraud/white collar crime in general. Based on what the Mueller investigation is uncovering, there's a whole class of rich people who apparently are just running amok.

mine - just adding buckets since we don't see to talk about State & Local much...
