Hamels had a great July but maybe he can return to his season stats a little bit. If you can get ahead of the count on him, the splits are 3-4 times more favorable. Good luck, team, hope you can make some good contact swinging at strike 1. If I remember right, Bush has really sucked bouncing back to starting after relieving. Hope he's got that under control too. Is it just me or is he way overdue for a complete game?

Weeks was 1-3 with a walk and 2 strikeouts tonight or yesterday or whatever you want to call it.

Hammels is filthy. It will be tough to get a win.

Who would you guys rather have Hammels or Yo?

I'm gonna be there, so hopefully it'll be a good one.
I should warn everyone though, if we blow a lead in the late innings, I'm gonna be extra ornery when I get back home to Madison, so maybe certain people who don't like to hear me criticize Yost should just avoid visiting this board between the hours of, say, 1 am-4am Sunday morning.
I'll even make this game more interesting for those certain people by pledging that if the Brewers win I will refrain from criticizing Yost for a week. Sound good? :D

Man, that is though. I guess I would say Yo by a hair just because he is 2 yrs and 2 months younger, but Hamels' stuff + him being left handed makes the decision almost impossible. I think I will defer to Ayt on this one.

Isn't Cole Hamels a power pitcher meaning his arm will go out faster.

Gallardo is a command pitcher who doesn;t really have any power. Though he can get it up to 92 if he has too. So his arm will last longer.

Someone can correct me if I'm wrong, but I believe that Hamels' fastball tops out in the low nineties just like YoGo's. When Novak008 and I refer to Hamels nice "stuff" we are talking about his filthy change up and his dynamite curveball (although maybe I shouldn't speak for anyone other than myself).

From what I've seen of Hamels, I take him. No doubt Yo will be a stud, but a stud lefty has more value in my opinion.

Tonight will be tough. Cole owned the Crew in Philly.

Yeah 1-3 with a walk is horrible. Imagine if he did that everyday he'd only end up with a .333 batting average and .500 OBP. Horrible.

Actually, his change is his killer pitch. Guys can't hit the damn thing and he can throw it whenever he wants.

I'd definitely take Yo over Hamels though. Given the fact that he's only 21 and already dominant, I don't think there is any pitching prospect I'd take over Yo.

Yo's fastball may not be in the high 90's, but it is a phenomenal pitch because of his command. A fastball that is always on the black is the toughest pitch in baseball to hit.

Yeah, but he struck out twice. A .333 average and a .500 OBP is worse if you strikeout instead of ground out or pop out when you make outs.

A better comparison may be Parra vs Hamels. Hamels certainly had the better numbers throughout the minors but Parra was no slouch either. Both are big lefties with a low to mid-90s fastball. Both throw a nice deuce. Hamels has the wicked change while Parra has a nice cutter that's nasty to either lefties or righties. Obviously, anyone with a brain would take Hamels right now and probably will in the future. He's a legit #1 pitcher and kicking ass in his second season. But I think Parra has the stuff to do similar things. I'm gonna love watching him over the next few years.

How sweet would our rotation look with Sheets, Gallardo, and Parra at the top? Even if Parra doesn't pan out, Sheets and Gallardo will be sick next year.
