Re: Fake Trade Thread
Like didn't his own coaching staff say he had to relearn how to shoot?
I'm not taking shots, I don't know what's going on, but you have to admit that it's objectively a bizarre situation and one I'd rather not roll the dice on.

I think Love would cost pick 10, Kaminsky and Dwight's expiring.

I would be OK with that.
My picks:
2020 Draft (3rd pick) - Tyrese Haliburton, Devin Vassell, or Onyeka Okongwu
2021 Draft (11th pick) - Moses Moody

And the next question should be “where do we sign?”

Kemba/Monk
Lamb/Graham
MKG/Batum
Love/Marv
Cody/Willy
That is actually a good roster in the East with a good coach and health. We upgrade two starting positions with Love incoming and Cody moving to starter. Loves age and injury history are concerns. I'd probably rather keep the pick tbh, but if we are insistent on doing win now moves then that one is actually reasonable. I'd rather move Marv than Frank if we are also giving up a pick that high. Marv is a bit better, but Frank is much younger and should be cheaper. I don't think we would be good enough to justify giving up that much youth (Frank + 10).

I personally would mock Love at C if we make that trade but I wouldn’t argue with that lineup.

i'm not huge on Kevin Love, but sign me up. Desperate times call for desperate measures. I'd pull the trigger, and then look to move Marvin for a good backup PG.

Re: Fake Trade Thread
Kevin Love isn't worth trading number 10 for me. I like his fit with our team but he's only getting older which is moving him away from the direction the league is going in. Sure, maybe we should just go all in with the roster we have, but that doesn't mean giving up a valuable pick for a guy who's barely an all star anymore (and likely only getting worse) is worth it. Maybe I just value the pick a little more than most

Re: Fake Trade Thread
I really think we need to make a move with Kawhi unhappy. I think for a few reasons.
He has history with Jordan Brand.
Kupcheck will have some pull I think.
We have a decent amount of assets.
We could go two routes.
1. Kemba plus frank?
2. 10, Monk and MKG

Based on what I've heard Kawhi's family is trying to get him in LA. I think that any move to Charlotte would be temporary for him.
My picks:
2020 Draft (3rd pick) - Tyrese Haliburton, Devin Vassell, or Onyeka Okongwu
2021 Draft (11th pick) - Moses Moody

They’re definitely trying to push for him to get traded to the Lakers (or Clippers). Otherwise he’ll likely stay in San Antonio until his next free agency.

Re: Fake Trade Thread
I'm wondering if the team tried to move Dwight and failed due to lack of interest or if they were foolishly never a motivated seller... Dwight has been dominant. 30-30 takes a special talent. He's playing near All-Star level basketball. Surely pick 10 + Dwight's expiring is worth a significant addition to build around Kemba. No? At least Dwight is worth a first plus cap space. No?

I think we could get a mid/late first from a playoff team/contender. Obviously no bad team will want him unless its just for an expiring.

Advanced stats show Dwight having bad year. 2nd worst OBPM and BPM of his career. His type of game does not translate well to today's NBA.
He's basically a role player being paid all-star money. In other words, his only value is that it's a large expiring contract. Maybe we could swing a trade at the deadline for teams looking to tank, but honestly, it's probably just best for us to tank next year..

Re: Fake Trade Thread
Trade 1
Utah trades/Charlotte receives: Alec Burks, Thabo Sefelosha, Tony Bradley
Charlotte trades/Utah receives: Nic Batum, 2018 CHA 1st (11 ish)
Trade 2
Utah trades/Charlotte receives: Jonas Jerebko, Ekpe Udoh, Royce O'neale
Charlotte trades/Utah receives: Marvin Williams (or Cody Zeller?)
Charlotte doesn't just move Batum for expirings, they move him for an expiring contract and a contract that is affordable but also non-guaranteed for this coming season, plus a recent first round Utah seems to like. This means that if they so chose they could not Sefelosha and immediately reduce their payroll by $13 million after the first part of the trade. Batum is still good, but horrifically overpaid. The second trade then moves Marvin Williams for completely unguarenteed contracts, opening up more cap space (so about $26 million more than they would have otherwise).
Admittedly I don't know that this is actually worth it for either team, but it seems like the salary savings for Charlotte should at least make thinking about moving on from a lottery pick fairly enticing.

I'd do Trade #1 in a heartbeat. We could probably send you some 2nd rounders too if you interested in those.

Hey if you'd do it without the second trade I'm down, lol. But I also really like Marvin and he was a good fit for us. We are in a position where we can kind of use Donovan's contract situation to offset bad salary. Donovan+Batum get paid cumulatively about $30 million a year and are probably worth that or a bit more - cumulatively. So I really want us to try and take on salary to add some highish picks.

We aren't trading a mid lottery pick just to get rid of Batum's contract...

Trade 2 doesn't seem like something Utah would be interested in. I just don't see a reason for them to go for Marvin's contract. With Trade 1, I don't think Charlotte should give up # 10 or 11 just to shed some of Batum's salary. The deal is more realistic if Utah includes their first this year

Re: Fake Trade Thread
A dream scenario for me would be trading something like Howard + 2nd for Al Faruq Aminu + Evan Turner + Portlands 1st (currently 25th).
Turner and his contract situation is worse than Batums and their pick is going to be in the 20-25 range. Portland gets Nurkic injury insurance for one year (also avoid having to pay Ed Davis) and gets a huge expiring to provide salary relief that could help them get the final piece they need to get over the hump.
We get a SF who can play defense and spread the floor for Kemba/Lamb (Aminu is 40% on 5 attempts from deep). Portland throws in their late 1st as added sweetner since Turners contract is arguably the worst in the league. I really don't like Howard on this team, see no way out of our bad cap situation (we don't get FA interest anyways), and have wanted Aminu for a while, so I would probably do this deal for a couple 2nds instead of the 1st, but that might be questionable.
Kemba/Monk
Lamb/Graham
Aminu/Batum/Bacon
Marv/MKG
Cody/Frank/Willy
+ pick 10/11 (SGA/Mikal?)
+ pick 20-25 (?)
