In before the Pistons fan (DUCLER) graphic.

Spurs have won 4 straight to get back into the West postseason race. Aldridge is carrying them. Kawhi Leonard is close to returning.

HUGE game. Wizards need to keep pace with the Pacers. Sixers have easy games every night it seems. Cavs got Love back and will probably be #3. Need to avoid 6th seed. Break this 19 year drought at the Riverwalk. Mitch Richmond was the Bullets' leading scorer in 1999 win at SA. :o

Last game in SA. Otto missed the layup to tie it.

Oh I know. Even old Richmond was a good scorer but its been 18 years. Looking at that lineup. Man, brings me back to childhood.

Was that the Spurs tanking year that landed them Tim Duncan? Don't remember.

No, Spurs tanked in 1996-1997.

Last Wiz win was Dec. 1999 so during the 1999-2000 season. Spurs had just won the championship vs. the Knicks during the lockout season. Ernie Grunfail was fired by the Knicks before that run. :D

IIRC, the team made the run with Ernie's players.

Yes, they did. His big coup was to take a gamble on acquiring Latrell Sprewell on a fire sale after the choking incident involving PJ Carlisimo. Sprewell played very well for the Knicks and was definitely the difference-maker in their playoff run.

Two things:

1. I believe Jahidi White played a big role in that 1999 win.

2. When Mike Scott exhibits ‘flu-like symptoms,’ it could be anything if you catch my waft, I mean drift.

I'm in a real good place with the Wizards.

I don't expect anything. I'm not too disappointed when they lose. In fact I'm rarely disappointed at all when they lose. I do not have unrealistically high expectations of Wall's return. This season anything is possible but I really do not expect the team to do much in the playoffs. With that mindset I can't possibly be disappointed.

A first-round exit will not surprise me. I expect the second round exit. If they get to the Conference Finals it will be considered a success. If they get to the NBA finals, I'll be all on board! They'll be playing with house money. I won't care if they get swept in the NBA finals. In all the years of me being a Wizards fan I think this is the best feeling.

It is not realistic to expect them to do much as long as EG is the GM and Ted Leonsis is the owner. At the same time they are mediocre to good and that appeases most fans. They are generally fun to watch. I believe they execute better than most teams even though they're not as athletic.

One thing is for certain. The Wizards are on national TV a lot more than they used to be. Also, they are one big man away from being a really good team. They have exceeded expectations since Wall went for surgery.
Tre Johnson is the future of the Wizards.

I agree that it's wise not to expect much. There's no reason to believe the Wizards are any better than the other 4 top teams in the East so a 1st round exit is possible and a 2nd round exit is likely.

That said, it's also pretty clear that the separation between the Wizards and the very best team in the East has never been smaller. This is literally their best shot at a Finals run in 40 years. And it's likely that that window of opportunity is going to close pretty fast as Philly and Boston get better and more experienced while the Wizards confront salary cap issues.

Mike Scott need to go to get himself a flu shot. Didn't he already have the flu a couple of months ago, gave it to Morris when they played at Chicago.

Scott and Meeks are out. Oh no, that means Jason Smith at the 4 for a few minutes. A lot more Kieff at the 5. Otto at the 4. Maybe Frazier with Sesh in the backcourt. Not good. Need big game from Oubre with the MASH unit of a bench.

McCullough and Robinson are not active for some reason with Meeks and Scott out.
