Alex Gordon is 4-for-46 this spring after two sub-par seasons with the Kansas City Royals.
During an in-game interview on Tuesday, Ned Yost said that Gordon will "go to the minor leagues and get a bunch of at-bats" if he doesn't turn it around at the plate soon.
However, it appears as though the manager misspoke.
Yost was referring to Kansas City's minor league spring training camp, not actually beginning the season in the minor leagues.
Gordon has enough service time to refuse an assignment and remain in the Majors.
