This is why the “he’s not a rookie” argument is terrible. Ben is growing leaps and bounds in efficiency as this season is going.

Personally, i think he’s figuring out this point guard thing and zeroing in on his teammates’ strengths and weaknesses, all while improving their skill-sets and games as well. A rare trait for any player, let alone a first year player who has never officially played the point guard position.

Agree 100%. I've seen more and more flashy passes from Ben lately. I think he's finally settling into the offense as point guard. The sky is the limit.

Ben was in my PUBG game today. Saw him lighting up the kill feed early but he died before I ran into him.

Ben is a product of playing team sports in Australia where the team is more important than the individual. Where sharing the ball and finding a teammate in a better position is the priority.

People who say he should shoot more dont understand him.

Sorry, can't really make excuses for that... His lack of shooting, is resulting in Embiid jacking up threes and lowering his efficiency. Our most potent scorer shouldn't be minimized by someone who can't shoot.

Simmons without a jumper, borderline all-star... With a jumper, MVP talent... It's a big if though...

He clearly has the facilitator’s gene. He is a born point guard.

However, you are right that his lack of a jumper is a weakness and hurts the team.

If next year he could turn himself into a shooter like Deearon(sp?) Fox, who is a poor shooter, but can at least hit the shots, it would be great for our team.

Ben simply can’t do it right now. He is currently a non shooter, and next year the goal should be for him to become a bad shooter, like Fox. Then make incremental improvements beyond that.

He just has to be able to shoot well enough to force defenses to guard him.

This culture is also why Australia doesn't produce superstars. The sharing the ball and passing team first mentality is all good and well but the difference between a good and even star player and a superstar player is their ability to score and take over games.

Lebron wouldn't be Lebron is he only scored 16ppg over his career and was limited to driving at the basket. Passing and court vision is a gift that you can only work on with limited improvement. Shooting is something you work on and grow up doing and Ben obviously hardly ever worked on it because he didn't have to in Australia.

If Ben had grown up in the US I have no doubt he would be an even better player than he is now because he would have been forced to shoot and take over games from an early age.... hell they probably would have seen earlier that he should be shooting right handed. I don't think his passing would have been any less effective than what it is now.

So unless he wants to just settle and be an "All-star" level player then keep playing the Australia way. If he wants to be potential hall of famer which he has the talent to do... he needs to start playing like a hall of famer and looking for his shot more. If he doesn't he will end up being a massive waste of talent.

Embiids 3 Point Attempt Rate has actually decreased from.228 last season to .204 this season.

If your main point was that Simmons needs a jumper to really take the step to MVP contention....sure. But let's not act like Embiid's not gona jack up his share of 3's, regardless of Simmons.

more like Australia don't produce superstars because the player pool is so small. it is a minor sport in Australia yet still has a several guy starting in the nba.

there have been times in games where ben looks mvp calibre. he totally dominated the pistons game for example.

being taller and more mobile than almost everyone he has played against throughout juniors probably hasn't help him develop a jumper. he got to the rim throughout his junior career and didn't need one. he also never played point so maybe thats another issue. obviously now he needs to add another string to the bow.

I think Rubio is realizing it this season. He’s been trying to be more of a scorer with the Jazz

The amount of hate that Sixers fans are giving Mitchell, and Jazz fans to Simmons, has been pretty annoying. The ROY clearly doesn’t matter as shown last year. Both players are great and the only thing Sixers fans should be angry about is trading up and not selecting Mitchell at 3.

Haha dont mind them. Media trying to get fanbase to take sides to make them emotional. We all know who's really the better player AT THE SAME AGE

Where are you reading hate from Sixers fans directed towards Mitchell?

I can’t recall reading a single criticism of him, let alone hate of him.

PC

He plays fairly often and is decent. I remember hearing that he wanted to be a Call of Duty pro if not for basketball.

You win some, you lose some. Could still be wrong about him being better than Fultz, although I doubt it.

Hope you are dead wrong on that one.
