2. Alvan Adams
3. David Robinson
4. Chris Paul
5. Bill Walton
6. Arvydas Sabonis
7. Tim Duncan

Mitchell is the key cog to a playoff team in the loaded west. 76ers have mostly been a disappointment and Simmons just gets his easy stats but doesn’t have much impact on w/L

I just dont get the argument from either side when they say stuff like this. Mitchell is as much of a key cog to Utah as Simmons is to Philly. I think most people would agree both guys are the 2nd best players on their team. Utah is in the 8th place in the West and has only a 1 game lead, so you cant really say its a lock that Utah is a playoff team (I do think they make it). Then Philly is a disappointment? If you want to call Utah a playoff team then someone can say Philly is going to have home court for the 1st round since theyre currently sitting at 4th place right now in the East, no way anyone would call that a disappointment.
Also Simmons doesnt have an impact on winning? The dude leads all rookies in RPM. Has a 4.0 BPM, 3.7 VORP and .147 WS/48 and an on/off of +8.1, again on a team that is currently sitting at 4th in their conference. All of those numbers are superior to Mitchell's.
Ask anyone Im far from being a Simmons fan boy, majority of people call me a Simmons hater. I think the race between the two of them are close, but to say Simmons isnt a key cog to a playoff team and doesnt have much of an impact on winning just makes 0 sense and there isnt a single stat that would back that up.

This is like the Westbrook / Harden debate last year, where Simmons is to Westbrook as Mitchell is to Harden.
We saw how that one ended up.

The only fact here is your profinity for making stuff up. Mitchell has a TS% of 54, which is about league average for a shootkng guard. Thats a tremendous feat for a rookie with a high-volume work load.
Yup, both teams have similar records, and Donovan has to be the leading scorer on the team since Hayward left, and Hood couldn't hack it consistently. Now when you have to be the leading scorer, naturally you have to take a lot more shots, and you become the focal point of the oppositions defense. So ofcourse you should expect Donovan to be less efficient than Simmons. In history, there have only been 8 players who at 21yrs old age or under, have been able to average 21.9ppg (PER36),and Donovan is 4th in TS% among these, with only the following players above him: MJ, Shaq, and Cummings. Donovan was more efficient than Rick Barry and Bernard King, among others. PER36 Simmons averages 5.1 less ppg, want to know the difference in TS% between the two? .551 vs .540. That's it. Donovan is shooting shots at the end of shot clocks, heaves, go to guy in the 4th (his among league leaders in 4th quarter scoring), and so on. All this drives your percentages down. As time goes on Donovan will improve his 3pt% without a doubt, he hasn't had the luxury of working with NBA trainers an extra year to improve his shot.

He is already so good at controlling the tempo of a game and making smart basketball plays that you almost don't notice him, as nothing is forced and everything comes within the flow. You almost can't double/trap him either because he sees things like that so early, and is surrounded by good shooters.
Against the Magic he only took six shots, yet his fingerprints were all over that game.
I agree with your overall point, but just wanted to point out that Simmons is not ridiculously efficient— in fact, hes league average. However, for a rookie, thats a trememdous feat.
Assuming he was referring to his overall productivity, efficiency metrics and the such, which his statement then would be true.
A better word would have been effortlessness... my point was more that everything comes so easy to him that you don't always realise his full impact on a game.

ben simmons is unbelievable. he's at 10 points, 12 rebounds, 13 assists right now and there's 3 minutes to go in the 3rd quarter
sixers have a 27 point lead on the twolves and he's been impacting the game with his passing and defense.

25 min triple double in a 26pt lead against the T Wolves. This guy is generational.

Just had a look, he would've had 6 Triple Doubles in a row if he didn't sit out the entire 4th quarter of the previous 2 games. Incredible!!!

Interesting thing about Simmons tonight is that he simply decided to score when in sight of a triple dub
I've no doubt whatsoever that he'd easily average 20 ppg if that was his main priority
