G A M E D A Y: Spurs (43-30) @ Bucks (38-34), 230PM Central

WHERE: BMO Harris Bradley Center, Milwaukee, WI
TV: FOX Sports SW, FOX Sports WI
VEGAS: O/U 202, Spurs -1

The suddenly-hot Spurs are winners of six straight, but they've all come at the AT&T-- we're still riding a three-game road losing streak, so it'll be nice if we can steal one against a Bucks team that's in the driver's seat for the last EC playoff seed but that's looking to get a little traction in moving up in the conference. Giannis sprained his ankle last Wednesday and is day-to-day, but there's no word on his availability for today's game at the time of this writing; maybe we'll get lucky and they'll hold him out, but either way, let's hope for a strong all-hands effort to extend our streak.

Gasol being guarded by Maker and all the post ups for Rudy Gay...I'm tired of Pops offensive schemes this season, it's all LA isos and 3p bricks...
When this account gets more "And1"s than posts written ...then my life will be complete. And maybe it will be the right time to hang it up. (Achieved on 2017-2018 season)...but still here.

Looks like it is our 24th starting line-up of the season that has done so well for us during the longest - and most timely - winning streak of the season, so Murray, Patty, Danny, Kyle, and LMA.

As for who is not on the roster, it is still, "... and then there was one."

We got some help yesterday from teams beating our playoff standings rivals, and can help ourselves even more today by putting some more separation between us.

The first game of a mini road trip where we must get some better results by focusing on the essentials - playing hard for 48 minutes, getting back in transition D, and moving with and without the ball to create a variety of shots.

You go with what the D gives you, and if that means leaving LMA open and getting torched by him when we need scoring, so be it. Obviously the schemes would be different with a full roster.

And in this game, it's Kyle, Murray, and Rudy (not a 3 attempt among them) who are providing the offensive support to LMA.

Our zone D and O rebounding and putbacks are a great help. It's a full team effort to get back from a 13-point deficit and tie the game after 24 minutes.

LA isos right now are the last of our problems...he's great right there, the issues come with all the other stuff, unless Manu or Parker make some magic play, it's all predictable and bad offense generally.

Bah! Missed opportunity to move up in the standings and transfer the pressure to opponents. Just too listless an effort early and often in the first and third, allowing another 41-point quarter for the second game in a row. If we played some semblance of D in the third, perhaps we'd have rewarded ourselves with a better result.

Also, we reverted to losing focus and not protecting the ball:
Read on Twitter

But it's a game of what-is not what-ifs, and we lowered our defensive intensity and they took it to us in a critical time. Our comeback in the fourth was great to see, but it was too little, too late.

We made a concerted effort on the O rebounding once again, and got some critical putbacks in this game as in the last few as well. LMA led us once again with a wonderful effort for 31 points and 7 rebounds, and Pau came alive after some quiet games for a strong 22 points and 13 rebounds. He looked rejuvenated and had more bounce to his step, hustling for rebounds, making deft high-low passes, faking shots and looking to drive aggressively. Rudy (10 points, 7 rebounds) was solid as a scoring option that gave us different looks and challenges for defenses. Danny (13 points, 6 rebounds) and Murray (10 points, 9 rebounds) played very well, too. Murray's last shot mess was a team responsibility. You can isolate any single play, and last shots get magnified, but the game was about every other play that led up to it; in close games, they all count all the more, so while we did well to come back, we got ourselves back too far with bad first and third quarters. A lot of energy was used in getting back fro behind. It's a game of mistakes, but we repeated them and got ourselves too far down.

Patty and Tony didn't round out our PG trifecta as well as they often do. It puts more pressure on other guys to have to do more. Manu made good pays beyond what appeared in the box score, but what also a bit short in what the box score counts. They combined for 3-16 for 8 points.

Pop has shortened and settled in more on the rotation towards the end of the season, but I still hold my breath still when Bryn is in. He's great when there is less pressure, but too deliberate and nervous in his movement and passing on O in tighter games. Seeing as how only Danny and Patty hit 3s, I'd like to have seen whether Bertans could have given us something. Kyle, like Danny, is a Swiss army knife, doing a bit of everything, and while Danny has been consistent in his O role as a 3 shooter, Kyle needs to keep looking for his shots; he can help us with his crafty drives and short Js. Sometimes he's too unselfish and changes his mind mid-shot, so I hope in time - like by next game - he gets a more assertive, decisive streak.

This is another game I've noticed where when we have a fast break we pass up the drive for a 3. Why? It's not as if they were falling for us. Irritating. We have to just keep it simple and stick to fundamentals.

Perhaps the six-game home stretch winning streak took a lot of our gas and focus, perhaps we allowed ourselves to exhale, and our intensity was spotty.

I hope we pick up where we left off here in the next game, with the hunger and drive we showed late, but it has to be for the whole game. Hopefully, lesson learned. I love our team.

I really dont have anything nice to say so I'll try to keep it short.

We just dont matchup with Milwaukee at all. They are too big for us. How many times did we see Parker, Mills, Green, Manu, Forbes drive to the basket when you absolutely knew they weren't going to shoot and turned the ball over because they couldn't shoot and made that same stupid pass to someone outside the three point circle that they do 100 times a game. Its not fooling anyone. This offense is way too predictable and the players in it are not talented enough to score when things dont go well or someone actually defends.

We are going to get destroyed in the playoffs because all teams have to do is double Aldridge and over play everyone else and make them drive to the basket. Defend the passing lanes when we pass it back out after leaving our feet and turn the ball over.

We arent going to win too many games relying on Aldridge scoring 40 points a night.

I disagree, if something kept us alive yesterday was our lenght and bigger line-ups. We absolutely demolished the Bucks in the boards, the problem was that our guards sucked all night long.
Yes, we don't match up well against Bucks, but that is because we aren't a quick and athletic as a team, unlike them.
