Re: Political Roundtable Part XIX
Such a weird feeling to wake up and hear Trump cite a statistic that is actually true.
https://www.washingtonpost.com/news/fact-checker/wp/2018/03/26/president-trumps-claim-that-china-caused-60000-u-s-factories-to-close/?utm_term=.3c865a0c81ab
Hilarious that China was forced by WTO rules to take steps, like eliminating inefficient, tiny little state-owned enterprises (really community owned enterprises) and eliminate export restrictions, which caused China's exports to explode and essentially cut U.S. manufacturing jobs in half.
Wow. Good for you China! And if it hadn't happened so damn quickly it would be extremely good news for us. But the sheer speed of the change ended up screwing a whole generation of blue collar workers.
Such a mess.

With the amount of confidence I have in this clown, it won't surprise me if his plan to quash the Russia collusion stories is to start a war with Russia. With his history of making deals and screwing everyone else, perhaps the consummate deal maker will refuse to pay off his Russian vendors, bring about another bankruptcy, get the Trump name on the White House, tweet top secret information, and say *its in a speech. My trifecta of predictions can still come true (unlike my Wizards prediction this year). And the makers of Gatorade will become further involved with agribusiness.

President Donald Trump referred to African countries, Haiti and El Salvador as "shithole" nations during a meeting Thursday and asked why the U.S. can't have more immigrants from Norway.

I don't think Stormy Daniels looked great in the interview. But it does look like Cohen paid her hush money which was at the time of the election and if that is true it would constitute as an illegal campaign donation given the timing of the settlement, which exceeds the total amount by over $100,000. There is a precedent for this in the case of John Edwards paying off a woman with campaign funds to not disclose his affair and child with another woman at the time of the Democratic primary which effectively ended his presidential run. Perhaps people are more forgiving of Trump as far as a moral standpoint of committing an affair although Trump could still be in trouble legally as it could potentially come in the Mueller investigation since Cohen may already be under investigation for his dealings for Trump in Russia. Any crimes that are not directly related to Russian investigation but are found can still be prosecuted.

So, as it turns out, Russians have such complete control over Trump that they even micromanage his messages, instructing him to use the word LOSERS as much as possible. I'm waiting for him to use "a big club of losers" in a tweet any day now

No one comes out ahead after that pointless drivel.
Not Stormy.
Not Donald.
Not even Anderson Cooper.
(Shutter at the thought of Trump being spanked by a p0rn star.)
Like I said last week....FAKE NEWS.
Who cares if it happened or not...some things are not worth reporting. CNN and CBS and USA Today spent countless hours and manpower covering stupid, low-brow, national inquirer worthy bull.
If any of the mainstream media thinks they actually damaged Trump's persona, they didn't. They actually emboldened his moronic pompom waiving lunatics (see stilladumbass' post and twitter for proof) and they reinforced the "fake news" narrrative that Trump cast on them.
Bunch of idiots. But I'm not surprised that CNN would stoop so low...they are ran by the producers of fear factor.

The person who probably looked the best on 60 minutes was Stormy Daniels lawyer. I don't think he will win any popularity contests, but he did seem to be arguing strongly for his clients interests. Not sure if he would spend 130k of his own money on a payoff, but not everyone can be like Trump.

I don't care about the affair itself but Cohen might have committed a crime.
Basically, that's money laundering.

I think the winner in the whole Stormy Daniels thing is the sex work industry. There was a long, interesting discussion on NPR today about how workers there are denied basic human rights because some people think what they do is icky. Not a good look for Democracy.

Yup, and since it could cause others to challenge their non disclosure agreements with Trump. Perhaps it doesn't desreve as much coverage as it has been getting on CNN (I haven't been watching this year so I can't speak to it). But it seems like it is what the people want as the 60 minutes interview was it's highest since an interview in 2008 with Barrack Obama. I would also not call it fake news since it appears to be news that is backed by fact; I can understand the claim that there is more important news going around. Although since voters are affected by the personal aspects of a president, then it shouldn't be entirely ignored either.

This seems like the wrong takeaway from all the coverage on the attacks from Russia:
Reuters - Feb 2018U.S. intelligence chief: U.S. 2018 elections 'under attack' by Russia
Leaders of U.S. intelligence agencies warned on Tuesday that Russia will try to interfere in the 2018 U.S. midterm elections by using social media to spread propaganda and misleading reports, much as it did in the 2016 campaign.
Director of National Intelligence Dan Coats told a congressional committee that Russia and other foreign entities were likely to attack U.S. and European elections this year and beyond, adding that Moscow believes similar efforts successfully undermined U.S. democracy two years ago.
Coats, a former senator appointed by President Donald Trump as Washington’s top intelligence official, said he had already seen evidence Russia was targeting U.S. elections in November, when Republican control of the House of Representatives and Senate are at stake, plus a host of positions in state governments.
“Frankly, the United States is under attack,” Coats said at the Senate Intelligence Committee’s annual hearing on worldwide threats.

The expelled "diplomats" is just for show, they will quietly return. Recall what Trump did with the Russian spy houses.

STD with the wrong takeaway. Say it ain't so!
If Dems take the house, this view will help provide cover for having the vote invalidated. If Repubs maintain control, such views will quietly disappear from that side of the aisle. That those in power are expressing such views can be seen as a form of hedging bets with plausible deniability. Call them dirty Russians out now, just in case it's an issue on the campaign trail. The Moscow handlers will understand the games you gotta play to maintain cover. Maybe some day we'll find that Trump was compromised before even the fall of the Soviet Union.

Wait...a porn star is Straight UP TRASH....nawwwww LOL come on dude...you know what she gets paid to do on camera. What did you expect her to sound like? I dont think there is anyway you can interview the avg porn star and sound intelligent. I will be honestly with you...i dont care if trump is sleeping with women that he isnt married to as long as he isnt raping them...the same way i didnt care when Bill did his thing with Monica. Trump doesnt look better or worse because of this to me. The people that look stupid are the trump followers that are saying all these women dont have credibility when his lawyer gave one of them 130000 and had them sign a NDA...and there is audio of him saying he is trying to get at this women. I dont understand why people just dont take Trump at his word...people keep saying trump means something else when he says things in plain English...

Sorry I didn’t read your post before I posted....you are 10000000% right... this actually is fake news. Trump is a billionaire that feels like he owns the world. His followers dont care what he does...and as long as it isn’t illegal i dont care how many women he slept with. He is not follow Bill Clinton and say he didnt sleep with those women under oath.
