I'll put my hope in Weltman on draft night

I know he wasnt the GM in toronto (except for 1 year), but lets looks at the last few first round picks when Weltman was the Raptors VPOBO and Ujiri right hand man

Jakob Poeltl
Pascal Siakam
Delon Wright
Bruno "2 years away from being 2 years away" Caboclo

Not exactly hitting any home runs there himself.

Well players you mentioned form propably the best second unit in the nba(except bruno)

tbh i only like Siakam from that list.

Actual quote from the Shot Doctor's radio show today:

"Mo Bamba makes Bismack look like Pat Ewing"

He would literally be the forum's worst poster by a mile.

Poeltl actually has been pretty decent. Better than Siakam I think.

Hennigan reworked our scouting department in his time here, and I haven’t seen anything about the FO changing that, so our draft will probably be guided by Hennigan’s people.
Remember when Kobe elbowed Jameer in the chin so hard Jameer was knocked down and sent skidding across the floor?

Minnesota with the wonderful choke job tonight against Memphis! We still have a great chance at a top 3 pick.

Marc Gasol blocks KAT, draws the foul and starts hitting free throws down the final seconds as Memphis is heading towards a win.

To everyone saying only Orlando fails to tank properly... players want to win. Players aren’t going to risk their livelihood for the sake of a rookie who may replace them.

It’s not as simple as “our coach won’t tank!”

Tell me why Bagley rated so high by many. I think he’s very good but I don’t see him ahead of Mikal Bridges (for example). What’s his NBA skillset? I have him more like 4-8. Projects more like Marqueese Chriss or Justise Winslow to me....not a great defender or rim protector, not a great shooter at all. He’s not going to outrun, outjump, and outhustle everyone in the NBA...I’ve read about him and saw a handful of games and clips...what am I missing?

Think more Amare Stoudemire in terms of skill set. Chriss and Winslow are laughable comps and not even close. Chriss is lazy and has terrible work ethic and Winslow is a bulkier wing that is defense oriented.

Bagley is literally the opposite of your last statement. He is going to outrun, out jump, and outhustle everyone, but the main questions are centered around his true position and how it translates.

To me, I’m currently ranking Bagley and Bridges as 2a and 2b on my big board.
Bridges is a more known commodity as a 2/3 3 and D that can perform better than expected.
Bagley Is more questionable positionally, but has all the intangibles and athleticism with defensive concerns. He has his athleticism to fall back on and will be a player regardless of how it all comes together.

Both have the highest floors in the draft IMO.

Isn't this basically how it worked last year as well? I don't mind it honestly - I think we're actually OK at scouting.

Yeah Amare and Bosh are better comparisons, still i dont think he is more than a role player in the NBA, and only if he starts to shoot better. There is huge chance his offense will be inefficient in the NBA and than he dont have anything to fall back to.

Actually nbadraft. Net mocks r pretty good but they only take in consideration team s need after the draft lottery

So no need to watch their mocks now

IMO mock drafts are kind a pointless until lottery is set, especially this year where we don't really have lock for 1# pick.
Lot of teams could turn to fit more than BPA ,because BPA basically doesn't exist within 7 players.
Last year draft was super predictable ( i was expecting opposite and failed brutally in predictions  ) but this year we might see suprises.

Oh, so he IS going to outrun and outjump everybody. Thanks.

Historically, they're getting minimal minutes and are being drafted based on potential (unless they are older guys coming over with lower ceilings). Doncic, at a very young age, is dominating and playing big minutes...Very unusual. Nothing at all like Hezonja, Porzingis, etc situations...if you doubt him, take another look - it's not the same old thing.

What does dominating Euroball mean?

He's play 24 minutes per game and scoring 15ppg at 46% shooting percentage. Is that dominating?
From past experience, only European players that can shoot lights out have excelled in the NBA. I don't see Doncic as that shooter.

Everything keeps on mentioning his age...well, he'll get older ever year. If Doncic is already so good at 19...what level do you expect him to become?
Do you think he's going to become a player like James Harden? What about Steve Nash?

My point is that some players peak early, and that's what I think Doncic has become. I keep on hearing people mentioning his age as a reason to draft him so high...but I honestly feel he's only thought of like this, because he's in Europe.

Even tho he struggles lately, Doncic still has one of the most productive seasons in modern Euroleague history. I believe only Boban Marjanovic and Arvydas Sabonis had higher Player index ratings than him. He is now averaging nearly 17 points in less than 26 minutes, which is super impressive. Even if you disregard his age, there isn't much room for doing much better in Euroleague setting, than what Luka is doing now. If not for Nando De Colo, who is great in his own right, Doncic would be clear favorite to take Euroleague MVP trophy this season.

We need a player that has that it factor! Another player who wants to be great.

Ayton reminds me of Boogie Cousins and less player that plays to his strength like a Dwight or Shaq! Plus his defense is questionable at times!

I like Mo Bamba but is he ready to play NBA minutes at the 5 right now or is he a 4?

My biggest sleeper in the draft is Diallo. I think he will be this years Donovan Mitchell of the draft, he has a ton of ability and great work ethic but needs to put it all together.

I think his draft stock will rise into the lottery range once workouts start!

Why would any GM in the league not take a potential 19 year old Boogie Cuz because they might think he isn't going to be Dwight or Shaq? A boogie level player taken in this draft most likely still end up by far the best player in the draft. Imagine if Dwight played in Sacramento, I bet he would not be the same Dwight who played in Orlando.
