Appearing on the Cover 2 Podcast, ESPN's Chris Mortensen predicted UCLA's Josh Rosen will be the fourth QB selected in April's NFL Draft.

Here's the order of Mortensen's prediction: USC's Sam Darnold, Wyoming's Josh Allen, Oklahoma's Baker Mayfield, then Rosen fourth. We believe an argument can be made for any of the five quarterbacks, as each presents a different skill set and projection. Rosen, however, appears to have the cleanest on-field evaluation as he is a prototypical pocket passer with plenty of the out there.

If that's true, the Niners need to draft him. That's absurd.

Ohio State CB Denzel Ward (illness) opted not to weigh-in during Thursday's pro day.

Ward checked in at 5-foot-10, 183 pounds, at the NFL Scouting Combine earlier this month. While he did measure up for pro day -- actually slightly taller than in Indianapolis -- he decided not to weigh in, as he said that he didn't want to offer a "false weight." The Ohio State corner said that he came down ill with a stomach issue the night before his pro day and that he had been vomiting, which he feared would impact his number if he weighed in. Fair enough concern, as Ward was already considered to be undersized even before he had to tango with the stomach bug. Despite the size concerns, he'll very much be in play for a top-10 selection come April's drama.

I used to be an intern in the sports media, and they all say "stomach bug" or "flu-like symptoms" is code for "hung over" and / or "coming down" like 90% of the time.

I can't imagine a kid would get hammered the night before his pro day. Given Ward's weight, the stomach bug excuse is plausible. He might have weighed in at like 170, which would have hurt his draft stock. To the extent that there could be dishonesty here, I'd think it might be that the 183 was water weight, and he wanted to shed that before running his three-cone and shuttle, or doing more drill work. Did he actually do the quickness tests? I can't find any results for him.

Don't underestimate the stupidity of 20-year-olds who are about to become millionaires.

Josh Allen - QB - Cowboys

Pro Football Focus notes that Wyoming QB Josh Allen had the highest percentage of quality red zone throws of the "big six" quarterbacks.

The big six, as a reminder are Allen, USC's Sam Darnold, UCLA's Josh Rosen, Louisville's Lamar Jackson, Oklahoma's Baker Mayfield and Oklahoma State's Mason Rudolph. Allen had a positive grade on 37.7 of his throws, easily beating Mayfield (33.3) for first place. Keep in mind that red zone throws are often the most difficult because of spacing, so while 37.7 percent may not seem great, it's a solid number.

James Daniels - C - Hawkeyes

Draft Analyst's Tony Pauline reports that the Buccaneers, Eagles and Titans are three teams showing heavy interest in Iowa C James Daniels.

Daniels had his pro day on Monday, and because of a lingering hamstring injury, he didn't run the 40 yard dash. He did participate in position drills, however. The center ranks at or near the top of the group in the 2018 class, and he has a chance to go in the first 32 picks for a team that's looking for immediate production in the middle of the offensive line.

Sam Darnold - QB - Trojans

Former UCLA head coach Jim Mora Jr. said he would select USC QB Skam Darnold No. 1 overall if he were the Cleveland Browns

"Because of fit," Mora explained, adding cliche descriptions like "blue-collar" and "gritty attitude." Darnold, like Rosen, grew up with a solid foundation. However, he was not the high profile recruit like Rosen and even played linebacker until his sophomore year of high school. This statement will and should be picked apart, as Mora was Rosen's coach for three seasons. Have some level of awareness and promote your play.

Josh Allen - QB - Cowboys

ESPN's Chris Mortensen believes that the Cleveland Browns are deciding between USC QB Sam Darnold and Wyoming QB Josh Allen for the first overall selection in the draft.

Mortensen made his comments during Tuesday's airing of NFL Live. It's nothing off the beaten trail. Darnold has seemingly settled more and more into the role of front-runner to land at No. 1, with Allen looking like the only other option for the pick. There's been the occasional rumor that Cleveland might look to swing for Saquon Barkley, but by-and-large, Darnold and Allen -- both of whose pro days were attended by Browns owner Jimmy Haslam -- appear to be separating from the rest of the class. Our favorite quarterback in the class is UCLA's Josh Rosen, but to this juncture, there's been almost no smoke around his being drafted by Cleveland. Even former Bruins HC Jim Mora said this week that the Browns should take Darnold rather than his former pupil.

Courtland Sutton - WR - Mustangs

The Philadelphia Eagles and New Orleans Saints will hold sit-down interviews with SMU WR Cameron Sutton in advance of Thursday's pro day.

While receiver is an area of need for both the Eagles and Saints, it's no sure thing that Sutton will be available for either squad without a trade. New Orleans will not be selecting until No. 27, while the defending champs are working with the No. 32 pick. There were questions about the 6-foot-3, 218-pounder's overall athleticism -- particularly his top-end speed -- entering the NFL Scouting Combine, but he mostly answered those in testing, posting a composite athletic score in the 79th percentile of NFL receivers. Rotoworld's Josh Norris sees Sutton as the second-best wideout in this draft, ranking him just one spot behind Calvin Ridley on his big board, with Norris colleague Thor Nystrom flipping that order on his own positional rankings board. Sutton has been training with former NFL WR Anquan Boldin (who overcame speed questions of his own to put together a 14-year NFL career) in the leadup to the draft.

Lamar Jackson - QB - Cardinals

An AFC personnel executive said that Louisville QB Lamar Jackson "struggled on the board" when his team met with the quarterback at the NFL Scouting Combine.

"You love the talent, but I don't know if he can handle some of the complex scheming and communication that's a part of the job," the executive said. That exec was just one NFL staffer whom NFL Media's Daniel Jeremiah asked about Jackson. Some of the other answers he received were considerably more charitable. One AFC college scouting director noted that the 6-foot-2, 216-pound Jackson is the real-life equivalent of a player created in a video game lab, while an NFC offensive coordinator said that if properly coached, "you could have a superstar on your hands." Splitting the middle between all these assessments, an AFC quarterbacks coach views the former Heisman winner as the definition of a project, saying, "Maybe he could play early as part of a package or as a returner, but I think he will struggle as a pure quarterback to start." Jackson could potentially push to the middle of Day 1 if the board breaks right.

I think every realistic evaluator knows this guy is not an NFL QB. Needs to focus on WR.
