I have always been a fan of him, so I would love to have him on the roster next season.

He can be at least a good third string PG, hopefully more than that.

Sorry. Hopes acquired.

Not a week ago I had assumed we would not be picking up that option. Now I'm on the other side.

Ulis's real worry isn't his own play - it's Shaq's. They both look good. Is there really room for us to add a starting PG, while still retaining Ulis, Shaq and Knight?

Shaq can play the 2 as well, and has looked better than Reed overall, but Reed has also been coming back from injury and could be much improved next season. You also can't get rid of Daniels if you want to win next season.

Keep 'em all, and we have 6 guards - before adding, we expect, a starting PG.

Dicey!

Ulis will look good when we start him and/or play him a lot of minutes with starters. I mean he will put up decent numbers. Did last year. Is this year. As a backup with backup players he struggles. I don't expect anyone really wants him in that starter role.

I think we will keep him but he will still be feasted on my good guards.

He got his butt kicked playing with starters throughout the first 60% of the season. He's just playing better now.

I also don't see him as a future starter, but as a back-up, he could be a great change-of-pace PG. Kinda depends on the match-up. You don't want him having to chase three point shooters on the perimeter, obviously.

I think he's a fine player. It will ultimately come down to roster spots. I wish we simply didn't have Chandler, Dudley and Knight on the roster because I think he's a fine 3rd PG if you keep 3 at each position and maybe a 2nd PG. But someone like Shaq probably holds more value, particularly if we drafted a guy like Trae and wanted defensive backups to Trae/Book in Shaq/Reed.

I hadn't thought of that, but you're right. If Trae is the pick, then Ulis probably should be shipped out. That may be especially true if Ulis finishes the season strong, in which case, perhaps he'll have some trade value come draft day.

Here I am daydreaming about players and assets I might be willing to deal, but I can't come up with ideal, realistic targets. If you're talking about something like Chriss/Bender, Ulis, #15 and #32, I struggle to find the player whose value matches that easter basket of young basketball players.

And this is a question for everyone: who would you be willing to deal that package for? I've heard Love and Kemba as potential targets, and we've discussed Blake, Drummond, Jordan and Millsap. I've riffed a bit about other possibilities, but I haven't found an idea I'm in love with. What's out there that we haven't thought of?

... Batum? No way Rozier's available, right? Probably not Portis, either? What are some others??
