Once in the make-up rounds the earlier a pick was passed on the less FGAs the make-up costs. If you pass on a pick in Rd 1, your make up pick costs 0 FGAs. If you pass in Rd 2, it's 10%. Rd 3 - 20%, Rd 4 - 30%, Rd 5 - 40%, Rd 6 - 50%, Rd 7 - 60%, Round 8 - 70%.

This is interesting, original concept. But I don't think the percentages should be a straight line - the difference between a first and second round pass should be greatest.
Comments to rationalize bad contracts -
1) It's less than the MLE
2) He can be traded later
3) It's only __% of the cap
4) The cap is going up
5) It's only __ years
6) He's a good mentor/locker room guy

Could we combine it with teammates? Same restrictions but your robins and supporting cast much each be teammates.

This seems a bit much. Didn't the supporting cast consist of five players being picked at once?

What about a game where each franchise can only be represented once on your roster? And when I say "represented", I mean you have a player who played for that franchise at any point in their career. So if you take Duncan, T-Mac and his glorious six-game playoff run for the Spurs are off the table.

How about a tournament of champions? Anyone who ever won a game is eligible. Contact some of the previous players and see if they'd like to do one more. Traditional draft style (80s and forward?) with playoffs?

By my count we have 27 unique winners. If we can get 16 of them to join then we’d be all set!

As far as the draft game itself, I’d rather do an all-time draft, but maybe with some variation of Batman/Robin Draft? Maybe you can only take 1 MVP, 3 All-NBA, and 4 non-All-NBA? Or 1 MVP, 2 All-NBA, 2 All-Stars, and 3 non-All-Stars? Some variation of that. Maybe to limit the talent on each team we could do 1 MVP, 1 All-NBA, 2 All-star, and 4 non-all-star? Just spitballing...

Maybe 2000-now no restrictions? Would the top 8 or so be too overpowered?

Honestly, I wouldn't mind something simple like this one as a change of pace. We tend to favour the more complex ideas (myself included) but sometimes the research and planning is a bit of a pain. I also like actually being familiar with everyone in the player pool for a change.

As far as the top eight being overpowered - who's to say we'll get more than eight drafters the way things are going? :tooth

I agree. And by no restrictions, I mean NO restrictions besides 8 players and 8 minute rule. So no FGA restriction. Would be interesting to see how teams would shape out. Would Iverson be a first round pick? Hmmmmm...

Oh, I don't really like teams with no FGA restrictions. Same reason I was never too big on the auction drafts.

Alright alright, whatever people want works for me! I’d play no matter what

I would also be interested in it literally being a tournament style game

Any other ideas for the 100th game..it's been 2 years in the making haha. It looks like Tournament of Winners is in the lead at this point. I prefer a wider ERA range and FGA restrictions..not sure on the concept yet, but hopefully something creative/unique and undecided on the voting part still.

I just want to do something simple next. Tired of all the research, FGA machinations, etc. Wackbone's 2000s to now idea (with FGA restriction) is the most appealing to me.

Also, I have updated the first post with the most recent ideas..take a look!

I'll start it up when the current draft is close to wrapping up.

What are your guys thoughts for the 100th game, which may be the Tournament of Winners, and you can only select players who have played in the Olympics-the best of the best. Not sure how the pool would look in detail, but maybe we can add some restrictions to make the pool bigger or smaller.

I say no, maybe it would be worth looking into in a future game but prefer not for 100th
